‘PLZ explain‘: Woman orders ‘extra vodka sauce’ through Uber Eats. Restaurant gives her a shot of vodka

Woman talking(l+r), Uber Eats(c)

This customer asked for extra vodka sauce in her Uber Eats order but ended up getting a shot of vodka instead.

In a woman’s post on her TikTok account @keepingupwiththeblasters, she explains that she wanted a bit of extra sauce when ordering from a local NYC restaurant. However, the restaurant staff appeared to have misinterpreted her request.

“I ordered through Uber Eats Penne a la vodka, I wrote a little note saying can you please include some extra vodka sauce on the side,” she says. “I did not receive vodka sauce on the side, but I did receive this vodka. A side of vodka. It’s…”

She holds up a small plastic container to the camera and removes the cap. She takes a whiff and then curls up her nose, laughing. “Vodka,” she clarifies.

There were numerous TikTokers who failed to see the issue with the TikToker’s problem.

“A win is a win,” one person wrote.

Someone else said, “That’s actually so nice. was it good?”

“They said ‘I’ll do you one better'” another person penned.

“I’m going to ask for a side of vodka the next time I order,” someone else wrote, thinking that they may’ve found a hack to get a little extra booze with their meal.

When it comes to alcohol delivery and Uber Eats, the application has some clearly defined rules and regulations pertaining to the transportation of alcoholic beverages to app users.

In 2021, Uber mandated that users who utilize Venmo or non-credit card forms of payment must upload an identification card as a means of protecting driver safety.

“…We know from law enforcement and other experts that anonymous payment methods are more often linked to malicious actions or fraud which can put drivers at risk…This new feature requires riders who try to set-up a new account with a prepaid card, gift cards or Venmo to upload a valid ID, such as a driver’s license or passport,” the company’s blog post reads. “The ID then undergoes a series of validity checks. These additional verification requirements can act as a deterrent to those who are trying to use the app to cause harm.”

In the instance of this customer on TikTok, it seems that she just ended up getting a little surprise pick-me-up (or put me down depending on your tolerance level).

According to some Uber Eats drivers, like this Reddit user, the application doesn’t always flag some restaurant orders as containing alcohol, even if they do. One driver wrote that a customer requested a margarita as part of their order, but Uber Eats didn’t recognize that the beverage contained booze. The driver could’ve easily just left the drink at the customer’s doorstep, but, knowing better, they asked the recipient for the identification and made sure to phone Uber Eats to let them know about the issue.

For the second year in a row, Made In America festival will not return to Philadelphia this summer.

Last year’s Made In America festival, during which, SZA and Lizzo were set to headline, was canceled as a result of “severe circumstances outside of production control.” Once again, Made In America announced the news today (April 3) via social media and the festival’s official website that it would not return for 2024.

The announcement came before a 2024 lineup or iteration was even announced. Though the reasoning was rather vague, Made In America says that festival will make a return at some point in the future.

“As purveyors of change, the Made In America executive production team is reimagining a live music experience that affirms our love and dedication to music and the work we do,” read the statement.

You can read the full statement below.

“Made In America will not take place in 2024.

Since its inception, this groundbreaking festival has celebrated music & community – from creating a space for fans to connect, to uplifting local small businesses & shining a light on important causes. It has strived for accessibility, eliminating barriers through affordable tickets and location.

As purveyors of change, the Made In America executive production team is reimagining a live music experience that affirms our love and dedication to music and the work we do.

We promise an exciting return to the festival.”

Why Did The Ellen Show End? Its Complicated Downfall Explored

Did plummeting ratings and toxic workplace allegations lead to the demise of ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’?

Sarah Kester - Author

In May 2022, the long-running talk show The Ellen DeGeneres Show came to an end after 19 historic seasons. For more than two decades, viewers watched as the comedian busted out her best dance moves, charmed celebrity guests, and provided the internet with plenty of viral moments.

These lighthearted moments were darkened when the show became the target of several toxic workplace allegations. At the center of many of these allegations was Ellen herself.

So, why did The Ellen DeGeneres Show end? We trace the complicated ending.

Why Did ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ end?

In a May 2021 episode, Ellen told her viewers why the show’s curtain was closing. “I truly have felt like next season was the right time,” she said, per the BBC. She added, “The truth is, I always trust my instincts. My instinct told me it’s time.”

At the time, the show was also dealing with plummeting ratings.

But Ellen didn’t mention that part in her reasoning, nor did she bring up the toxic workplace allegations that the show began grappling with just 10 months prior.

What were the toxic workplace allegations surrounding ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’?

In July 2020, BuzzFeed published a report that detailed the alleged bullying, racial discrimination, and sexual harassment that reportedly went on behind the scenes of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. They talked to several former employees who all asked to remain anonymous out of fear of retaliation.

One former employee claimed that Ellen’s “be kind” motto was all for the cameras. “That ‘be kind’ bulls–t only happens when the cameras are on. It’s all for show,” they said.

“I know they give money to people and help them out, but it’s for show,” they continued.

Other staffers claimed that they weren’t allowed to speak to Ellen. These allegations echoed what comedian Kevin Porter wrote in a viral X (formerly Twitter) thread in March 2020. He claimed that Ellen is “one of the meanest people alive” and called on others to share their stories of the TV host being mean. The thread received over 2,000 replies.

While it was mainly executive producers and senior managers who were blamed in the BuzzFeed report for the workplace toxicity, former employees believed that Ellen should be held responsible since it’s her show.

Did the toxic work allegations factor into ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ ending?

In a May 2021 interview with Today, Ellen shared that the controversy is not why the show ended.

“If it was why I was quitting, I would have not come back this year,” she said. “I really did think about not coming back, because it was devastating. It started with attacks on me and attacking everything that I stand for and believe in and built my career around … I am a kind person. I am a person who likes to make people happy.”

She also claimed that she didn’t know about the staffers’ complaints until she read about it online. However, she did take some responsibility.

“It’s my name on the show, so clearly it affects me, and I have to be the one to stand up and say this can’t be tolerated,” she said.

The final episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show aired on May 26, 2022. It featured celebrity guests Jennifer Aniston (she was the first guest on the show when it aired in 2003), Pink, and Billie Eilish.

Instacart Subreddit Viral Crab Cake Drama

After having their order canceled by the shopper, u/Dominanttallqueen turned to the r/instacart subreddit to ask who was in the wrong. Over eight thousand people weighed in, and commenters agreed that there was definitely some miscommunication going on, mainly on the customer’s end.

“You’re telling him you said it five times, but you didn’t say ‘behind the counter’ until the fifth time,” u/Infumuz wrote, “Then he understood and told you that they didn’t have any behind the counter. The first four times, you just kept saying ‘from the seafood department,’ and he was telling you that the ones in the pic he sent you were from the seafood department. This, sir, makes you the dickhead. Good day.”

Is There A New Kanye West And Ty Dolla Sign ‘Vultures 2’ Release Date?

Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign plan to release their Vulture series in a trilogy, with Vultures 2 being the next upcoming release. Last month, West revealed the cover art for the album — building fans’ excitement for the project.

However, West’s spokesperson recently told Billboard that there would no longer be listening parties for Vultures 2, despite this being initially announced.

Here’s what fans should know about the Vultures 2 new release date.

Is There A New Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign Vultures 2 Release Date?

Although it was supposed to drop on March 8, as of right now, there is not an updated release date for Vultures 2. The duo plans to sell the album for $20, according to West, as it will be available on the Yeezy website instead of any streaming platform. A few days later, short previews of the songs were available on Instagram and TikTok — so a release could very well be on the horizon.

“We regret to report that due to the time constraints for Ye and Ty Dolla Sign to curate production and meet logistic requirements, the upcoming dates for the VULTURES 1&2 listening experience will need to be revisited at a later date,” Tampa’s Amelie Arena, which was one of the listening locations, shared.

Vultures 1 had been delayed, too, but arrived eventually — meaning it should be the same for the trilogy’s second drop.

Ty Dolla Sign is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Doja Cat’s Deluxe ‘Scarlet’ Album Leaked, But She Absolutely Couldn’t Care Less About It And Explained Why

Doja Cat is gearing up to release the deluxe edition of her album Scarlet soon, but some, it would seem, have already gotten ahold of it via leaks. While some artists get upset about leaks, it looks like Doja doesn’t care even a little bit.

In response to one fan asking Doja to “do something” about the leak, Doja responded, “idk why you guys care so much about leaks.” She added in another tweet, “what does it mean when someone leaks an album why do people get upset?”

Somebody responded, “cuz you lose streams,” and Doja replied, “but i dont care????” Somebody else said, “the album will still be a hit ikdr muva,” and Doja answered, “why does that matter either though?”

One fan, surprised by Doja’s response to this news, tweeted, “Thought you would be cussing out people having a breakdown or sum.” Doja replied, “LMAO nah [crying emoji].” Another user wrote, “I mean it’s lowkey disrespectful if you set a date and people are dropping it early w/o permission.” Doja responded, “No its definitely messed up cuz i wanted to put it out myself but theres nothing i can do about it!! thats just how its gonna be but at least i can just keep being creative and look forward to the awesome things i have coming up!!”

Interactive map of hospital “territory” and who owns…

Interactive map of hospital “territory” and who owns it in Virginia.

by u/wcedmisten

   Interactive version: https://wcedmisten.fyi/project/virginia-hospital-ownership/

Hey everyone! I recently saw an article
about a hospital merger in southwest Virginia (Ballad Health) and how
it increased ER wait times, so I was curious to see who owns the
hospitals in Virginia.

I found every hospital from OpenStreetMap and computed a voronoi
diagram of the points to get “territory” regions (the area that is
closest to any given hospital). Then I color coded the regions by
hospital operator. E.g. the light blue-green in the southwest corner of
VA is Ballad Health.
