37 TikTok-Famous Gifts For Yourself You’ll Actually Use

Note that the the noise-canceling is 95% — ideal for keeping ears out for traffic and kid noises, if need be, but not 100% like the Apple version.

Check out a TikTok of the headphones in action.

Here’s what BuzzFeeder Maitland Quitmeyer has to say about these headphones: “I actually just bought these after featuring them for the first time — I’ve been considering buying AirPods Max, but I am very particular about how headphones fit — and am sensitive to my ears overheating after wearing certain on-ear headphones for too long. So instead of (or before) committing to the $500 version, I thought trying these for a test run would be good. Turns out, I love them so far! They’re super comfortable and do *not* make my ears overheat. The sound quality to my non-expert ears is excellent too! And the noise-canceling is right for me — it blocked out annoying street noise so I could be fully immersed in my tunes.”

Promising review: “These headphones are surprisingly awesome. I was rather impressed with the quality, considering the price. They are easy to pair, came charged, and are super cute. People have actually asked me if they were the AirPods Max I also really like how you can pause/skip and adjust the volume on the headphones (which many headphones lack). Noise canceling is pretty good. I can’t hear very much when I play music. When there’s no music, they still cancel a lot, but not everything, like most headphones. I do wish they could get a little louder, but they still have great sound quality. 4.5/5″ —Amazon Customer

21 Wholesome Celebrity Encounters

“Hands down my best celebrity encounter was Stephanie Beatriz. She came into my clinic with her then fiancé (now husband) to get help with their pup. Both were really sweet and awesome to talk to :). While I was speaking to them and guiding them on how to treat their dog, I couldn’t stop but wonder who she was since her face was familiar. I finally caved in and asked, ‘Miss, I’m so sorry for asking this, but do I know you from somewhere?’ She replied very nicely, ‘Do you watch a show called Brooklyn Nine-Nine?’ I’m pretty sure my whole face lit up and I replied, ‘OMG, you’re Rosa Diaz?!’ She was so happy when she heard my reply and hugged me while I was holding their pup.”

“I continued to talk more about what else they could do to make the treatments more relaxing and fanboying about how much I love that show and her character on it.

I’d see her a few more times at my clinic, and she would always say hi to me while in the lobby and let me know what other work she’d be doing. It is truly a memory I will cherish forever, and still, to this day, I love that show so much. It always brings me joy when I need it (and as the detectives on the show would exclaim as a sign of camaraderie: ‘Nine-Nine!!!’).”

UConn Went Back-To-Back With A Dominant Performance Against Purdue

Getty Image

GLENDALE — On Monday evening at State Farm Stadium, Dan Hurley and the UConn Huskies stayed true to the script they’ve written in 12 consecutive NCAA Tournament games. The Huskies were pushed for one half by the Purdue Boilermakers in the national title game but, in what has become typical fashion, UConn put its foot on the floor after halftime, zooming to a double-digit lead that would never be relinquished. The end result was a 75-60 victory and the 2024 national championship, with UConn becoming the first repeat champion in men’s college basketball since the Florida Gators in 2006 and 2007.

At the outset, both teams were energized and performing well on offense. Despite early jitters, both teams connected on 4-of-7 shots before the first media timeout, with UConn’s Cam Spencer scoring seven quick points to give the Huskies a two-point edge.

Edey flashed his considerable brilliance moments later. First, he finished a lob from Braden Smith in emphatic fashion. Edey then followed it with a pair of monstrous blocked shots on the defensive end, and then got the best of Donovan Clingan in the post for a three-point play to tie the game.

Edey scored 14 of the first 23 points for Purdue. On the other end, UConn’s offense was also flowing beautifully, and the Huskies kept pace as a result. The Huskies scored 1.4 points per possession in the first ten minutes of the game, including a seven-point mini-outburst from reserve guard Hassan Diarra.

Both Edey and Clingan took very brief rests in the first half, with each lasting less than a minute on the bench. Each absence was clearly felt, perhaps prompting the respective coaches to fix things quickly, and it added to the synergy of what was already a tightly-contested half. UConn also inched ahead with a 32-25 lead, partly due to a dry spell that saw Purdue miss six out of seven shots.

With Purdue perhaps teetering a bit, Smith put together a 5-0 mini-run for the Boilermakers, including a tough three-pointer to force a UConn timeout.

Smith’s triple also doubled as Purdue’s first long-range connection of the evening, which was notable for the nation’s second-leading team in three-point accuracy. In fact, the Boilermakers attempted only two three-pointers in the first half, perhaps illustrating the effects of UConn’s pressure. Offensively, the Huskies were led by All-American Tristen Newton, who contributed 11 points before halftime, showcasing his creativity and touch.

UConn landed the first punch out of the locker room, pushing the lead to as many as nine points. Then, an unlikely source produced the most captivating single highlight of the evening when Purdue reserve Cam Heide threw down an earth-shattering putback dunk that also happened to be his first field goal of the Final Four.

That was followed by a potentially pivotal moment in which Clingan picked up his third foul with 15:54 remaining. He went to the bench, perhaps opening the door for Purdue, but backup big man Samson Johnson had other ideas. He finished back-to-back dunks after entering the game and gave UConn a 47-34 lead in the process.

While Purdue was able to keep things in the range of 10-12 points for a few more minutes, the infamous UConn knockout blow was coming. Alex Karaban knocked down a triple and, after a miss by Purdue, the Huskies scored in transition to take a 56-40 lead with fewer than ten minutes to play.

Through the first 11 minutes of the second half, Purdue had only 10 points and three field goals, including the bizarre insistence on avoiding three-point shots. While UConn should be credited for defensive emphasis in that area, it was also clear that the Boilermakers were going to win the math battle and, with Edey cooling off after a hot start, things swung to the reigning champs. In the end, UConn led by as many as 18 points in the second half, and the result was never in doubt once UConn assumed full control.

For Purdue, the end result was not what Matt Painter nor his team wanted, but the Boilermakers enjoyed their best season in more than four decades. The Boilermakers reached the Final Four for the first time since 1980 and the national final for the first time since 1969. Edey was the consensus best player in the sport for two straight years, and that was on display on the biggest stage. While he certainly regressed as the game went along, Edey finished with 37 points and 10 rebounds, completing a tournament run in which he exceeded 20 points and 10 rebounds in all six games.

The Boilermakers simply could not keep up with the Huskies at the other four positions, leading Purdue to fall just one game short of matching Virginia’s turnaround from a first round loss to a No. 16 seed to a national title the following season. Of course, much of that can be traced to the utter dominance of UConn for a second straight tournament. Not only did UConn become the first repeat champion in 17 years, but they’re only the third repeat champion in five decades and the third No. 1 overall seed to win the national title since 2004. UConn was utterly dominant for the lion’s share of both tournaments, winning each game by double figures and covering the spread in all 12 contests, which continued in Monday’s final.

While UConn shot only 6-of-22 from three-point range, the team asserted its offensive will in other ways. Chief among them was the offensive glass, with the Huskies grabbing 14 of their own missed shots. UConn also committed only eight turnovers, flipping the possession battle in its direction, and the Huskies operated with precision to make life miserable for Purdue’s defense. The Huskies certainly had athleticism and physicality advantages on the perimeter, both on paper and in practice, but UConn also executed at an elite level on the defensive end to put its stamp on this victory.

Purdue entered the game shooting more than 40 percent from three-point range on nearly 20 attempts per contest, and that helped to boost the Boilermakers to an elite offensive profile this season. Edey did his part to score in the paint, but the Boilermakers were simply unable to create (or make) quality looks from the perimeter, making only one triple during the 40-minute game. That left Purdue without a “plan B” of sorts, allowing UConn to clamp down and maximize its talent advantage.

During the regular season, three men’s college basketball teams — UConn, Purdue, and Houston — stood above the rest. The Cougars suffered debilitating injuries, including the loss of All-American guard Jamal Shead during the tournament, and while that is unfortunate, Houston was never able to showcase its best. That left only two and, over the course of a 40-minute game on Monday and also over 12 NCAA Tournament games over two years, the UConn Huskies vaulted themselves into a different stratosphere. It was a thoroughly dominant effort on the grandest stage of the sport, and the party will continue in Storrs until practice convenes in the fall.

What Are The Signs That A Relationship Won’t Last? People Love Giving Their Opinions.

Source: Reddit/AskReddit/Unsplash/@candice_picard

Sometimes, you can just tell…

I’m talking about when you see a couple and you know it just ain’t gonna last.

You see it all the time!

And these Reddit users were nice enough to share obvious signs that couples aren’t going to make it.

Let’s take a look.

“I always find couples who post about how much they love each other on social media break up pretty quick.

I’m not talking about like one post but the excessive ones.

Recent example being a girl I know who posted probably every other day about how this guy is her world, she’d be lost without him, she misses him when he’s not there etc. they were together about 3 months total.

I just find it so obvious.”

“Their communication just doesn’t improve over time.

Being in my first real healthy relationship I’ve realized that both people need to be committed to their individual and collective growth to create a fulfilling, healthy relationship.

If one or both people aren’t trying and make a habit of withholding their true thoughts and make no effort to make the small changes to eventually meet the other half way, it’s inevitable.”

“After I was married about 3 years a coworker that had been married for a few months asked how long we lasted before we ran out of stuff to talk about.

I figured that was bad sign.”

“When your arguments always go from what currently happened to attacking each other’s character in general, as well as resentment/contempt.

Once you resent your spouse, it’s done in my experience.”

“They casually show signs that they don’t respect each other.

It can be a lot of eye rolling, mocking, condescending laugh, casually saying “you’re so stupid”, embarrassing in front of friends…”

“I would say no emotional connection. Like the other person cannot trust you and tell you what he feels or what he’s been through or deals with right now.

And here, I understand that some people need their time to open up and find their own words to express their emotions, I’m one of them. But I’m referring to people who don’t even try, even for small stuff.

Just to give an exemple: Normal day. You and your pal sit together. You ask them about some stuff that’s been bothering him, cuz you see him worried and sad. He doesn’t say anything or that’s nothing. This happens over and over again. Or you do sth that your pal doesn’t like, but he’s not telling you.

The only time you will hear what he didnt like in the relationship or what he didnt like about you will be in an argument or at the breaking point.”

“Lack of trust.

Not necessarily about the big stuff (fidelity, money, your real name), but namely in basic, everyday communication.

If one or both partners is constantly questioning what the other person meant, or are constantly looking for reasons to get offended or taken aback by what the other says, it doesn’t bode well for the long-term prospects.

As a witness, you can feel the underlying tension when they interact. The stress of it all usually leads to resentment, and dissolution of the relationship.”

“When they can’t laugh with/at each other and share no inside jokes.

Seriously, I could not imagine having an unfunny partner.

We laugh hard at least once a day, still after 18 years together.. humor is everything as relationships get on in years.”

“The price of the wedding.

Apparently studies have shown an inverse relationship between the cost of the wedding and the duration of the marriage.”

“They move very quickly.

They met just weeks ago and they’re already getting an apartment together and playing house.”

“Constantly digging through each other’s phones and social media because they’re just so certain they’re going to find evidence of that person cheating.

Everyone acts like I’m crazy for calling this a red flag but every single relationship I’ve ever seen where they constantly demand access to the other’s device it always ends in disaster and usually not even because of cheating but because of just a complete lack of trust on either side of the relationship.”

“The most obvious sign to me is whether each individual in the relationship is the exact same person with their partner as they are without.

When I see that someone is funnier, or more relaxed, or any other slight change in personality when they’re not with the partner, I know they aren’t meant for each other.

Think about it.”

It won’t last!

37 Products Under $20 You Won’t Regret Buying

BuzzFeed writer Emma Lord is a BIG fan of this mascara. She said:

“Hello, that is my face above, because I bought into the hype of the positive reviews and now I will never look back!! Putting it on is like giving my eyelashes butterfly wings. It doesn’t get clumpy, it stays put ALL the live long day (I spent all of this ridiculously hot pandemic summer wearing it, so I can speak to that), and you can apply it on very lightly if you don’t want it to look so dramatic, or continue applying for longer lashes each time.”

Promising review: “I have to be honest, for a ‘cheap’ three-pack mascara, I did NOT have high expectations. These, however, exceeded my expectations and went MUCH MUCH farther. I had been buying a certain $25/tube brand (rhymes with truepique) and I like these just as much!! I’m saving a TON of money and like my lashes just as much.” —Liz

Amazon Customer Calls Them Out For Getting Massive Tax Breaks And Paying Zero Taxes In America’s Poorest State

Source: TikTok/@madeline.lillian

It’s nothing new, but that doesn’t make it any easier to swallow.

I’m talking about corporations not paying their fair share of taxes…or ANY taxes, for that matter.

And a woman named Maddie is so fed up with the situation that she decided to talk to TikTok viewers about what’s going on in one state in particular.

Maddie said, “I think it’s gonna be hilarious when all of these mega-corporations get to the point where there is no more demand because people can’t buy things anymore.”

The state Maddie is specifically talking about is Mississippi.

She said, “You know what that means? That means Amazon doesn’t pay taxes. Zero, zero taxes come out of Amazon’s multiple-billion corporation every year.”

Maddie continued, “Oh, and also, they’re gonna give them 44 million dollars to help them keep their business running in Mississippi, which has the highest rate of poverty in America.”

She added, “So what happens when you have all the supply, Amazon, but nobody could afford it anymore? You took all the money and you hoarded it.”

Where Is Jennifer Pan Now? Appealing Her Sentence in Prison

Nearly 15 years after a home invasion killed Jennifer Pan’s mother and injured her father, she was granted a retrial in May 2023.

In the U.S., one of the most well-known cases of parricide is that of the Menendez brothers. Parricide is defined as the killing of one’s parents and is fairly uncommon. This might be why the media latched onto the story of the wealthy siblings who murdered their parents and claimed it was in self-defense due to years of abuse. What resulted from this was a heavily publicized trial that wouldn’t be repeated until the O.J. Simpson trial two years later.

Article continues below advertisement

Despite how rare parricide is, it happens all over the world. In November 2010 in Canada, a young woman named Jennifer Pan was accused of orchestrating a murder-for-hire plot with her folks as the targets. Fortunately, it wasn’t a complete success and one of her parents lived. Why would a daughter do such a thing to her parents and where is Pan now? Here’s what we know.

Where is Jennifer Pan now? She’s behind bars.

Nearly 15 years after a home invasion killed Pan’s mother and injured her father, she was granted a retrial in May 2023, per the CBC. At that point, Pan had been in prison since 2015 after a judge found her guilty of first-degree murder and “sentenced [her] in 2015 to life in prison with no parole for 25 years for first-degree murder, and life for attempted murder.”

Article continues below advertisement

During the appeal process, Pan was represented by Stephanie DiGiuseppe who told the outlet, “It’s a very important day. Her fight is not over.” The three men Pan hired to kill her parents were all convicted of the same charges and also appealed their first-degree murder convictions. The appeal was granted based on the fact that the jury in the original trials was only provided two scenarios for the attack. In both, first-degree murder was the only option. Manslaughter and second-degree murder should have been on the table.

Article continues below advertisement

As of the time of this writing, a new trial date hasn’t been scheduled yet. Pan’s lawyer is confident this is a positive step in the direction of her exoneration.

What did Jennifer Pan do?

The CBC reported that on Nov. 8, 2010, “a woman who was killed in an apparently random home invasion in Markham, Ont. … was shot multiple times along with her husband.” Three men broke into their home and demanded money. Apart from the couple, their then 24-year-old daughter was in the home although she wasn’t injured. Chief Armand La Barge said, “The daughter was tied up and separated from her parents at that time and the suspects spent approximately one half-hour in the house, searching it for cash and valuables.”

Article continues below advertisement

Pan was arrested two weeks later after authorities noted several inconsistencies in her story. After waking up from a coma, her father also informed police that he saw his daughter whispering to one of the home invaders in a manner that seemed quite friendly. Four years later, Pan was found guilty along with the three men she hired.

Article continues below advertisement

During the trial, the prosecution claimed that Pan wanted her parents dead because they didn’t approve of her relationship. Pan had been dating her boyfriend Daniel Wong since high school, via Toronto Life. Eventually, he began dealing drugs, but this was just the tip of the iceberg. Pan’s entire life was also a lie. The pressures of being a successful second-generation Canadian immigrant got to Pan. She lied about graduating high school, attending university, and getting a good internship while in school.

When her parents found out what was happening, Pan was told she had to stop seeing Wong. He was also getting tired of all the sneaking around and broke up with Pan. When he started seeing someone else, Pan concocted another lie to try and get him back. In the end, they did reconcile and decided there was only one way they could be together — if Pan’s parents were dead.

‘Price yourself accordingly’: Customer calls out cocktail menus that start at $18

A customer is calling out cocktail menus with drinks that start at $18.

TikTok user Amanda (@amandatwell) recorded her thoughts on the matter while preparing to go out for “overpriced cocktails” two days ago. “I just need to know when it became the norm for cocktails to just like start at $18,” she says. “I live in Dallas, and there’s a lot of new restaurants and cocktail bars and just places that I wanted to try.”

She says she was preparing to go out for drinks the other night when this occurred to her. “We picked a spot. I go and look at the menu in advance, because I’m one of those people. Every single cocktail on their menu—$18. And it’s not like these are like insane, creative cocktails. It’s like their French 77. Their espresso martini. Their cosmopolitan.”

An $18 drink should be a spectacle, in Amanda’s opinion. “If I’m paying $18 for a cocktail, I want it to spit fire at me. I want it to blow bubbles. I want it to do something,” she says.

“I get it, things are getting more expensive. I don’t like in a cheap city, but like this isn’t New York. Who do we think we are? This is just a random bar in Dallas. It’s not a fancy steakhouse. It’s not a super elite experience, cocktail mixology bar. It’s just a normal bar,” Amanda says.

Amanda says she doesn’t mind paying top dollar for a good drink, but there are principles to consider. “I can validate $12-$15 for a cocktail. It’s still a bit expensive. But when I could buy two bowls at Chipotle for how much you are charging me for an espresso martini? I find that to be a problem. And we wonder why Gen Z just is not going out anymore. It’s because it’s not sustainable,” she says.

“When I got out of college, I go to the bar, my vodka soda was $4. Granted I lived in Amarillo, Texas. But still. I would go out in Fort Worth. My vodka soda? $6-$8,” she says. “At these places, you can get something that’s not on the main cocktail menu. But I can’t validate $15 for a Tito’s and soda, just like I can’t validate $18 for an espresso martini,” she says. “I get it, there’s art that goes into a good craft cocktail. But every single place that opens, I’m sorry, you are not on the top 100 world bars list for craft cocktails. Price yourself accordingly.”

@amandatwell Created as im getting ready to go drink overpriced cocktails #dallas #cocktails ♬ original sound – Amanda Atwell

The video has amassed 14,000 views as of Monday afternoon. In the comments, users weighed in on rising cocktail prices.

“It’s insane. And a beer is $8 or $9. Like, WHAT?!,” wrote one user.

A second user wrote, “We never order drinks out anymore. It’s ridiculous.”

A third user agreed, “i live in vegas and was once charged $25 for a vodka redbull.”

However, some users said that price point is a steal where they live.

“When I lived in nyc I would get SO excited to see an $18 martini,” wrote one user.

“The worst part is how little alcohol they put in the drinks. If they made it well then one $18 drink MIGHT be worth it but it’s like drinking juice,” another user wrote.

According to Bon Appetit, the $20 price tag on good cocktails likely isn’t going away any time soon. That’s attributable to inflation, which makes everything—especially alcohol—more expensive. It’s unlikely the increases are going directly to the bars and restaurants, which notoriously run on thin profit margins.

3D Printing Is Helping To Heal Major Skin Wounds And Could Revolutionize Head And Face Reconstruction

Source: Shutterstock

It’s impossible to wrap our minds around the scale and scope of scientific research that is going on all day, every day.

For every problem humans have there is a scientists somewhere trying to figure out how to leverage technology to fix it.

Now, medical researchers have 3D-printed human skin and placed it over significant wounds on a rat.

The team is out of Penn State and they’re hoping their work will lead to significant improvements in reconstructive surgery and hair treatments in humans.

Source: ShutterstockSource: Shutterstock

Professor Ibrahim Ozbolat was the lead author on the ensuing paper.

“Reconstructive surgery to correct trauma to the face or head from injury or disease is usually imperfect, resulting in scarring or permanent hair loss.”

There have been previous successes with bioprinted layers of skin, and the team out of Penn State built on those, claiming to have seamlessly repaired damaged skin tissue by printing the bottom and middle layers of the skin.

When you replace the hypodermis and middle dermis, the epidermis (top layer) heals itself over time.

“With this work, we demonstrate bioprinted, full thickness skin with the potential to grow hair in rats. That’s a step closer to being able to achieve more natural-looking and aesthetically pleasing head and face reconstruction in humans.”

Their bioink is made of a network of proteins and stem cells and a clotting solution to bind everything together. The proteins and stem cells are extracted from human fat tissue.

“We printed directly into the injury site with the target of forming the hypodermis, which helps with the wound healing, hair follicle generation, temperature regulation, and more.”

Source: ShutterstockSource: Shutterstock

It only took two weeks for the epidermis to form on top of the 3D printed sub-layers – hair follicles included.

“We believe this could be applied in dermatology, hair transplants, and plastic and reconstructive surgeries – it could result in a far more aesthetic outcome.”

They have been awarded a patient for their bioprinting technique, but there is still work to do to prove it will work on human models.

Only time – and some human test subjects – will tell whether or not this technique will revolutionize reconstructive surgery going forward.

‘I start crying’: Albertsons cashier gets overwhelmed at long line. She catches her manager in the back doing this instead of helping

A former Albertsons cashier detailed how a “very angry” manager berated her after leaving her alone to deal with a mounting line of customers.

MK (@mk9unit) captioned in the video that the grocery store chain should “count [their] mf days” in her viral TikTok that raked in over 49,000 views.

“I’ve always worked minimum-wage jobs like from the time I was in high school and legally allowed to work up until I wanna say my senior year of college. Longest jobs that I’ve ever held down were at grocery stores back home, so when I moved out west, and I had to get a job, I decided why not try the grocery store?” MK started. She said she found a job there but only had one “very angry manager” and could tell the grocery store was grossly understaffed.

She said one day, she was the only cashier working. “My line starts to build up. I’m calling for the … manager; I couldn’t even remember the phone code to get the manager in the front of the store,” she recalled. “Dude that I’m checking out is getting angry at me; the manager isn’t coming. [The customer is] yelling at me, ‘You should know how to do this!”

MK said she “needed an override, which you can’t do without a manager’s key.”

“So I start crying,” she said. “I just start bawling. Everyone in that line was dead quiet waiting for the manager to come. I found him in the … break room on his phone. He’s like, ‘What?’ I’m like, ‘I need an override, and you’re not up here.'”

She said the manager yelled at her, which caused her to cry even harder. He said that despite her state, her manager made her continue checking customers out. She said a nice customer, who was in line behind the customer who yelled at her, bought her a candy bar. “He’s like, ‘It’s OK. This happens all the time. He shouldn’t have left you here if it was one of your first days working,'” she recalled the kind customer telling her, letting viewers know she thinks about him and that gesture often.

The TikToker’s experience at the job wasn’t one that she wanted to experience again. She ultimately decided to hand in her pink slips instead. “I quit the same day!” she proclaimed at the end of her video.

Viewers who responded to MK’s post remarked that they, too, have had less than stellar experiences while working at their own grocery store jobs. “When I worked at Safeway I overheard my manager saying she couldn’t believe they raised the wage to $10 & that we didn’t need/deserve that like ok Joan,” one shared.

Another user called out Albertsons, specifically. “Bro I entirely LOATHE that company. I can’t tell you how many times I heard the phrase ‘we’re a family here,'” they wrote.

Progressive Grocer noted that the human response to the implementation of COVID restrictions highlighted many glaring customer-to-employee issues for food retail workers. A number of them reported experiencing burnout at their respective jobs, not to mention poor and rude treatment from customers. Such workers are also often underpaid, receiving an average annual salary of less than $23,000 a year, according to Comparably.
