Texas UPS driver proudly explains why he never helps his wife do any chores

Even though America has come a long way in gender relations over the past few decades men are still far behind women when accepting domestic responsibilities.

A recent study from the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ American Time Use Survey found that women aged 15 and over spend 5.7 hours daily on domestic tasks, whereas men spend 3.6 hours, a 37 percent difference. Women with a 35-hour week devote 4.9 hours daily to home chores and child care, compared to men’s 3.8 hours.

In a world where men still trail behind women when it comes to work on the homefront, a Texas UPS driver is going viral for a TikTok video where he urges men to reconsider how they think about domestic responsibilities.

In a video with over 6 million views, J.R. Minton proudly says he doesn’t “help” his wife with jobs around the house. “I don’t help my wife cook. I don’t help her clean, do laundry, take care of the kids — none of that,” Minton, 32, began his clip.

Warning: Strong language.

@minton__jr

So, why does Minton refuse to help his wife?

“Because I do what I am supposed to do as a father and a husband. I cook. I clean. I do the laundry. I take care of the kids. I can’t help my wife do those things because they are my job, too,” he reveals.

He then urged men to change their perspectives on how they view their relationship to domestic responsibilities and their wives. “Change the way you speak, change the way you think, and grow the f*** up and be a man,” he added.

The video received raves from women in the comments. Sadly, many used the video to share that their husbands have fallen short of Minton’s level of understanding. “My husband sometimes doesn’t even flush the toilet,” Human Robot wrote. “I am sending this straight to my man he needs to see this,” JJsMom added.

“Yep! My husband and I recognize it’s BOTH our kids and BOTH our house, therefore BOTH our responsibility,” Sweetheart wrote.

Minton is an equal partner to his wife because he was raised much differently and wants to right the wrongs of his past. “Pretty much everything about my parenting style is in spite of what I saw when I was growing up,” he told Today.com

Minton knew that his philosophy on marriage was necessary when a woman at Target praised him for doing the “bare minimum.” “I was wearing the baby, and I had two kids in the cart, and this lady comes up to Brittany, and she’s like, ‘Oh my God. Is this your husband!? Look at him. You should take a picture of him,’” Minton said. “I get so much credit for doing nothing. How low is the bar?”

Minton responded to his viral video with a heartfelt follow-up to everyone who loved how he cared for his wife and family. “I’m truly humbled at how far my message has gone,” he said. “However, I’d like to take a second to say: I am not special. I am no ‘unicorn.’ I am normal.”

“Nothing about my parenting style or my commitment to my wife is unique. Although it may seem out of the ordinary, it is far from extraordinary,” he continued. “Every father and husband we know (that seems to come up short) is fully-capable — yet unwilling.” He added that there was one thing that separates dads who do their part and dads who don’t: “Effort.”

Her entire squad quit before the state cheerleading competition. She cheered anyway.

Cheerleading is supposed to be a team activity. Most squads have anywhere from 10 to 20 cheerleaders and some have even more than that. But one squad in Nebraska had just four girls, and less than two weeks before the Nebraska State Cheer and Dance Championships, all but one cheerleader had quit.

Most kids would’ve followed suit so close to a big competition and without teammates, but Katrina Kohel, a senior at Morrill High School, decided she was still going to compete—even if it meant she would have to do it alone. Talk about being brave in the face of disappointment. This girl decided she was going to cheer in the competition and she did, without much care for what others thought.

The competition wasn’t just the next town over. It was five hours away, so Kohel and her coach, April Ott, really had to mull it over before committing to making that drive, according to Business Insider. In the end, the teen decided that she didn’t want to just sit in the crowd or stay home; she wanted to perform the routine she spent so much time learning. But the routine required the entire squad, so before they could make the trip, they had to figure out how to make it a one-person routine.

“I’ve put a lot of time into cheer. It’s just always been a part of who I am, so I didn’t want to end on that note. I wanted to go out on a high one. For that to come true, I didn’t want to end it just by going to watch state. I wanted to compete.” Kohel told Business Insider. So the lone cheerleader and her coach got to work redoing the routine so it made sense with just one person cheering.

The pair told the Omaha World-Herald that they had to rework the whole performance in a week and a half. It was really a battle of sheer will since Kohel was determined to do her best on the mat without her team. Kohel admitted to the outlet that she was nervous, but no one would have known it.

“She was completely confident the whole week that we practiced,” Ott told Business Insider. “It was just 100% confidence, and she just owned it.”

This cheerleader was absolutely unstoppable and she had her family’s full support. Even Ott’s daughter, who was previously a cheerleader at the same high school, tagged along to cheer her on. Kohel’s grandparents stood in for her parents because her brother had a state wrestling tournament and her parents are the coaches. But don’t worry, they were able to see her cheer through Facebook Live.

Support didn’t only come from her family and coach, as other cheerleaders piled into her section and cheered for the brave solo cheerleader. Darin Boysen, executive director of the Nebraska Coaches Association, told the Omaha World-Herald that this was the first time a cheerleader competed alone.

But she didn’t just compete—she placed 8th out of 12 squads, which is the highest Morrill High School has placed in the last three years.

“It’s almost overwhelming, the amount of support I got from all of them,” Kohel explained to Business Insider. “The whole arena was cheering me on. It wasn’t just one little section—it was the whole arena.”

Who Are Chance the Rapper’s Kids? Meet His Daughters

“They make me laugh so often,” Chance said.

Jamie Lerner - Author

As we grow older, we learn more and more about “The Highs & the Lows” of life, something Chance the Rapper explores in his music. The three-time Grammy Award winner is not just a genre-breaking musician, but he’s also a father.

During his marriage to Kirsten Corley (the two announced their divorce in April 2024 after five years of marriage and 10 years together), they welcomed two daughters.

Chance’s relationship with his kids has positively superseded his career. In his more recent albums and songs, he references his family throughout his lyrics and even talks about his kids in various interviews. So although they’re not quite old enough to have their own careers, there’s plenty he’s said about them over the years for us to get a better understanding of who they are.

Chance the Rapper has two kids, Kensli and Marli.

While we all know him as Chance the Rapper, the legal system recognizes Chance as Chancelor Bennett, making his daughters Kensli Bennett and Marli Bennett. Kensli was born in September 2015, while Marli was born in August 2019, shortly after Chance’s marriage to Kirsten.

The girls are both the spitting image of their father, and they appear regularly in ads for BOBY, Kirsten’s “lifestyle childrenswear brand designed to empower kids, build community, and support parents,” according to the brand’s Instagram bio. But Kensli and Marli aren’t just photogenic — they’re also talented and intelligent, according to stories told by Chance himself.

Chance has shared that both his daughters have an interest in music, among other things.

Since he started his career in music, Chance has become quite the family man. In fact, when he won his 2017 Grammy awards, he added his then-2-year-old daughter, Kensli, to his acceptance speech. But she’s grown a bunch since then. In 2020, he shared with People how he was enjoying the extra time with his daughters during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“They make me laugh so often,” he said. “Kensli says really funny stuff and she’s very, very advanced for her age. I know all parents say that about their kids, but it’s ridiculous. She’s so intelligent and she just speaks. She’s very opinionated too. She says exactly how she feels about stuff. She’s 4, but she acts like a 7-year-old that’s acting like she’s 13.”

In fact, she graduated kindergarten a year early with an accelerated learning program and in the 99th and 97th in reading and math, respectively, which Chance shared proudly in an Instagram post. In addition, she performed onstage with Chance for one of his songs in Mexico. On the other hand, Chance’s younger daughter, Marli, also has musical chops, which he shared in a post for her 4th birthday in which she sings “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid.

But it hasn’t always been easy. When Kensli was first born, there were some complications. “When Kensli was born she had a heart arrhythmia that kept her in NICU for a week and a half and [the Ronald McDonald House] provided my fiancée and I with a place to stay,” Chance tweeted a couple of years later.

When will we see Kensli and Marli become stars in their own right? It doesn’t seem like fame is at the top of their to-do list, but if they follow in their father’s footsteps, we wouldn’t be surprised.

Gen X mom can’t understand why her Millenial and Gen Z kids watch TV with closed captions

If you’re a Gen Xer or older, one surprising habit the younger generations developed is their love of subtitles or closed-captioning while watching TV. To older generations, closed-captioning was only for grandparents, the hearing impaired, or when watching the news in a restaurant or gym.

But these days, studies show that Millenials and Gen Z are big fans of captions and regularly turn them on when watching their favorite streaming platforms. A recent study found that more than half of Gen Z and Millenials prefer captions on when watching television.

It’s believed that their preference for subtitles stems from the ubiquity of captioning on social media sites such as TikTok or Instagram.

This generational change perplexed TikTokker, teacher and Gen X mother, Kelly Gibson.

Always leaning! #genx #millennial #caption #learning

“I have three daughters, and they were here. Two of them are young millennials; the other one is an older Gen Z,” Gibson explained in a video with over 400,000 views. “All of them were like, ‘Why don’t you have the captions on?’”

The mother couldn’t believe that her young kids preferred to watch TV like her grandparents. It just did not compute.

“My Gen X butt was shocked to find out that these young people have decided it’s absolutely OK to watch movies with the captions going the whole time,” she said jokingly.

But like a good mother, Gibson asked her girls why they preferred to watch TV with captioning, and their reason was straightforward. With subtitles, it’s easier not to lose track of the dialog if people in the room start talking.

“They get more out of it,” Gibson explained. “If somebody talks to them in the middle of the show, they can still read and get what’s going on even if they can’t hear clearly. Why are young people so much smarter than us?”

At the end of the video, Gibson asked her followers whether they watch TV with subtitles on or off. “How many of you out there that are Millennials actually do this? And how many of you Gen Xers are so excited that this is potentially an option?” she asked.

Gibson received over 8,400 responses to her question, and people have a lot of different reasons for preferring to watch TV with captions.

“Millennial here. I have ADHD along with the occasional audio processing issues. I love captions. Also, sometimes I like crunchy movie snacks,” Jessileemorgan wrote. “We use the captions because I (GenX) hate the inability of the movie makers to keep sound consistent. Ex: explosions too loud conversation to quiet,” Lara Lytle added.

“My kids do this and since we can’t figure out how to turn it off when they leave, it’s become a staple. GenX here!” Kelly Piller wrote.

The interesting takeaway from the debate is that anti-caption people often believe that having writing on the screen distracts them from the movie. They’re too busy reading the bottom of the screen to feel the film’s emotional impact or enjoy the acting and cinematography. However, those who are pro-caption say that it makes the film easier to understand and helps them stay involved with the film when there are distractions.

So who’s right? The person holding the remote.

Julius Randle Will Have Season-Ending Shoulder Surgery

julius randle

The New York Knicks currently sit in fifth in the East, a half-game behind Orlando for fourth and one game behind Cleveland for third, slipping down the standings amid a three-game losing streak. Ever since the All-Star break, the Knicks have just been trying to hang on until they got healthy again, with Jalen Brunson carrying an immense load with Julius Randle and OG Anunoby sidelined with injuries.

Anunoby briefly returned from his elbow injury, but has missed the last eight games as it continues to bother him and the Knicks remain vague on what exactly is going on. Randle, meanwhile, has been rehabbing from a dislocated shoulder and hoped to return soon to give the team a boost going into the playoffs, but was not able to fully recover and will now have season-ending surgery.

Per Woj, specialists warned Randle that not having surgery and returning to the court could cause permanent damage to his shoulder.

The Knicks were hopeful to get healthy at the right time after Randle and Anunoby suffered their injuries at the end of January and beginning of February, but will now at least be without their All-Star forward for a playoff run and no one is quite sure when their big trade acquisition will be back in the lineup. It’s disappointing news for a Knicks team that certainly would’ve had a chance at a run to the conference finals if they were fully healthy, particularly given the shakiness of the teams around them in the East below the Celtics.

Now, the path to a deep playoff run gets much more difficult, but they can hold out hope Anunoby is able to return and play every day in the postseason and that will give them enough to challenge for a series win (or two).

‘This has happened to me so many times’: Kroger customer catches online order pickers lying about unavailable items

Woman talking(l), Krogers(c), Basket with toothpaste(r)

A customer said that Kroger online order pickers tried to deter her from using her couponing skills to get several items for nearly free, so she took matters into her own hands.

In the viral video, which has more than a million views and hundreds of comments, extreme couponer Brodie (@brodiesaves) explained that she placed an order for pickup that would be nearly free, but Kroger canceled the order.

Now Brodie is true to the extreme couponing game. Her page is full of couponing content, and she has more than 350,000 followers on TikTok. One of her pinned posts shows some of her major hauls, including boxes of O-Cedar mops and dozens of glass cleaner packs.

While Kroger claimed not to have the item in stock, Brodie suspected that they just didn’t want her to take advantage of the good deal, so she took matters into her own hands.

Brodie drove herself down to Kroger to see for herself, and lo and behold, the shelf was full of the toothpaste she was trying to buy.

She ended up grabbing what looked like six Crest toothpastes. At $4.39 each, the total first came out to $26.34, but the magic happened when she put in several coupon codes that first brought her total down by $10, but by the end of it, she only had to pay $0.34—just over a quarter.

As she left holding up her haul, Brodie seemed quite happy about the couponing feat she was able to pull off.

“You can do pick up or instore pay only a few cents out of pocket for over $26 worth,” the caption read.

Commenters were divided about Brodie’s couponing.

“Ok, why all that toothpaste?” a person asked.

“Walgreens always did this to me. Like is it coming out of your pocket ????? Relax and fulfill,” another said.

“This has happened to me so many times, call the store manager or report the store! Otherwise they do nothing and repeat the same issue,” a commenter wrote.

One former Kroger shopper claimed that they weren’t intentionally lying about the toothpaste being in stock. “I worked clicklist, depends when it was picked. if we pick it at 8 am and you pick up at 3 pm, it could be restocked by then and we can’t go back in and change it. if we have time we’ll relook for out,” they said.

A Walmart employee also previously took to TikTok to call out inconsistencies in the store’s stocking. He clapped back at online order pickers who claimed they weren’t able to find items that were “out of stock.” He found the items himself.

Cory Wharton and Taylor Selfridge’s relationship timeline has included many ups and downs.

As of March 2024, Taylor admitted to Us Weekly about her relationship with Cory, “We both have our deep-rooted issues with different things that kind of play a part in our relationship.”

Backing up a bit, the couple first met in 2017 while filming Season 1 of the show Ex on the Beach.

In 2019, Cory told People, “Taylor and I never really stopped talking after Ex On The Beach. We’re going on almost a year and a half. We took about two to three months off and other than that, that’s who I’ve been with.”

During the Teen Mom: Family Reunion episode on March 27, Cory admitted to cheating on Taylor early in their relationship. Understandably, she has struggled to trust him throughout their relationship.

Cory was already a dad to a child named Ryder with his ex, Cheyenne Floyd.

“It’s definitely tricky,” he told the outlet about co-parenting while dating Taylor. “It’s not the easiest on Taylor, but I just do the best that I can to make her comfortable and let her know that, ‘Hey I’m only here for you.'”

In April 2020, reality show staple Cory became a dad again, this time to a daughter with Taylor. Mila was later joined by Maya in 2022.

Meanwhile, in 2020, Taylor planned to star in an MTV special about having her first child, but it was canceled upon the revelation that she had previously shared racist tweets.

But the couple weathered that storm and has seemingly been together ever since, with Taylor paying tribute to her partner on Instagram when he celebrated his birthday in March 2024.

“Thank you for always loving me no matter what, being the best daddy our kids could ask for, and working as hard as you do for our family. I love you babe forever and always,” she wrote in the post.
