Teen Refuses To Talk To Mom Because She Sold Fallen Marine Dad’s Beloved Car, Or So He Thinks

Marine Sgt. Nick Walsh was so in love with his 1991 Ford Bronco that he vowed to pass it down to his own son one day. But those dreams were seemingly shattered.

In 2007, Sgt. Walsh was on deployment in Iraq when he was killed by sniper fire. He was only 26. His son, Triston, was just four years old at the time.

Though Triston’s mom kept the car, it began to fall apart as years passed by. Julie eventually took to Facebook to explain the situation and ask for some advice. Should she hold onto the car, knowing how much it meant to Triston and his late father, despite its totally unusable condition?

The community took note and it wasn’t long before local businesses, mechanics and dealerships were chipping in to restore the Bronco at no cost.

Triston, who was nearing his 16th birthday, had no clue what was to come. In fact, his mom told him she sold the Bronco (since it was such a clunker, anyway) and said she planned to use the money to buy him a different car instead — one that actually worked.

But the teen, who had gotten his hopes so high and desperately wanted to drive his dad’s car, was so angry and disappointed that he refused to speak to his mom for weeks! He knew that having this car would make him feel close to his father, the fallen hero who died way too early.

In this clip, watch as Triston’s mom brings him to the car dealership under false pretenses — and the curtain peels back to reveals his true birthday surprise.

Doctor Explains Why He Checks Dead Patient's Facebook Before Notifying Their Parents

image

Losing a loved one is easily the worst moments you’ll face in your life. But it can also affect the doctors who have to break it to a patient’s friends and family. Louis M. Profeta MD, an Emergency Physician at St. Vincent Emergency Physicians in Indianapolis, Indiana, recently took to LinkedIn to share the reason he looks at a patient’s Facebook page before telling their parents they’ve passed.

The post, titled “I’ll Look at Your Facebook Profile Before I Tell Your Mother You’re Dead,” has attracted thousands of likes and comments.

“It kind of keeps me human,” Profeta starts. “You see, I’m about to change their lives — your mom and dad, that is. In about five minutes, they will never be the same, they will never be happy again. ”

“Right now, to be honest, you’re just a nameless dead body that feels like a wet bag of newspapers that we have been pounding on, sticking IV lines and tubes and needles in, trying desperately to save you. There’s no motion, no life, nothing to tell me you once had dreams or aspirations. I owe it to them to learn just a bit about you before I go in.”

“Because right now… all I am is mad at you, for what you did to yourself and what you are about to do to them. I know nothing about you. I owe it to your mom to peek inside of your once-living world.”

image

Profeta explains that the death of a patient makes him angry:

“Maybe you were texting instead of watching the road, or you were drunk when you should have Ubered. Perhaps you snorted heroin or Xanax for the first time or a line of coke, tried meth or popped a Vicodin at the campus party and did a couple shots.”

“Maybe you just rode your bike without a helmet or didn’t heed your parents’ warning when they asked you not to hang out with that “friend,” or to be more cautious when coming to a four-way stop. Maybe you just gave up.”

“Maybe it was just your time, but chances are . . . it wasn’t.”

image

Profeta goes on to explain why he checks a patient’s Facebook page:

“So I pick up your faded picture of your driver’s license and click on my iPhone, flip to Facebook and search your name. Chances are we’ll have one mutual friend somewhere. I know a lot of people.”

“I see you wearing the same necklace and earrings that now sit in a specimen cup on the counter, the same ball cap or jacket that has been split open with trauma scissors and pulled under the backboard, the lining stained with blood. Looks like you were wearing it to the U2 concert. I heard it was great.”

“I see your smile, how it should be, the color of eyes when they are filled with life, your time on the beach, blowing out candles, Christmas at Grandma’s; oh you have a Maltese, too. I see that. I see you standing with your mom and dad in front of the sign to your college. Good, I’ll know exactly who they are when I walk into the room. It makes it that much easier for me, one less question I need to ask.”

“You’re kind of lucky that you don’t have to see it. Dad screaming your name over and over, mom pulling her hair out, curled up on the floor with her hand over her head as if she’s trying to protect herself from unseen blows.”

“I check your Facebook page before I tell them you’re dead because it reminds me that I am talking about a person, someone they love—it quiets the voice in my head that is screaming at you right now shouting: ‘You mother f—-r, how could you do this to them, to people you are supposed to love!”http://www.distractify.com/”

Homeless Man Reunited With His Missing Dog After One Grueling Week Of Searching

What an incredibly happy ending for a homeless man named Lee and his beloved pup, Crystal!

Toni Mella Sweeney, who is associated with a volunteer group in Leeds, England called Helping Hands, told Caters News that Crystal had run off after an argument broke out in the underpass where she and her owner, Lee, were sleeping. Toni said Crystal got spooked because of the noisy racket and took off into the unknown.

How heartbreaking!

Although Toni said she received news of multiple sightings, no one could find Crystal.

“For two days we had sightings, then nothing,” she said. “Someone was rumoured to be seen with her, but we never confirmed that. I contacted Murphy’s Army for help and they swiftly put a team in place, people from all over the Country sent well wishes, and followers were doing all the posters.”

Thankfully, after an extensive and grueling week-long search, Crystal was found and reunited with Lee.

It was awesome when I received the call. The whole event was a whole week of panic and broken emotions, Lee and I spent time together whilst I consoled him and reassured him,” Toni said. “The morning I received the call I immediately went to find Lee. I covered half of Leeds and eventually found him by the coin exchange. We went for food to calm down and then I took him to be reunited with his baby. As you can see from the video, it was altogether mind-blowing.”

Wow, what an amazingly emotional reunion. We’re so happy for Lee and Crystal!

Baby Feeds Mom French Fries At The Exact Same Time She’s Breastfeeding Him In Restaurant

When new moms decide to take on breastfeeding, it’s not always what they think it will be. Moms are so flooded with information about the benefits of breastfeeding that they don’t often think about the trade-offs. The process doesn’t always come easily to mom or baby. It sometimes requires a lot of dedication. It can also be painful for mom. We also live in a world where people are still made uncomfortable by breastfeeding. That means that the need to feed or pump can be met with opinions, policy, and other barriers.

Yet, as mothers learn all the hardships that can come along with the natural process, they still put their babies first. It’s what moms have done since the beginning of time. The bond between mom and child makes it so worth it for these women, who are at the beginning of the selfless journey that is parenting. Paula Goodwin was breastfeeding her son out at a restaurant when little Zachary decided to take care of mama while she was taking care of him in a genuine, sweet moment caught on camera. The result is a precious video that went viral.

Nervous Woman With Severe Cystic Acne Goes Out In Public Without Makeup For The First Time

Grace Nesbitt has suffered from severe cystic acne ever since high school. The condition causes painful red bumps and tender blackheads to form underneath the skin and can be very difficult to treat. She’s often left unable to open her mouth to smile or chew food without wincing in pain.

Grace was prescribed Accutane during her senior year of high school, but the prescription only worked for a short amount of time. She’s now 23 and things have gotten increasingly worse, despite the fact she’s overhauled her lifestyle to try and fix the issue. She cleared her diet of gluten and dairy, she increased her amount of exercise and she was tested for every allergy and hormone imbalance in the book… but nothing has solved her acne problems.

For Grace, the hardest part of living with cystic acne is going out in public. While her friends were enjoying their twenties and embracing their busy social lives, Grace found herself feeling isolated with her confidence at an all-time low. It got to a point where she hardly went out in public at all… and when she did, she covered her acne and scars with makeup.

But now, the young woman from Philadelphia is trying to “change the narrative of acne not making you ugly.”

In this clip, Grace agrees to go out in public to a local pub with her friends — completely bare-faced for the first time ever.

The camera was there to capture the surprising and inspiring results.

Neighbor’s Tip About ‘Voices In The Woods’ Leads Police To Boy Who’s Been Missing For Days

Casey Lynn Hathaway, 3, was playing outside at his great-grandmother’s house in North Carolina when he failed to return back inside with the other kids.

After 45 frantic minutes, Casey’s great-grandma called 911. By this point it was clear that Casey had gone missing outside — and the temperature was quickly dropping.

Hundreds of volunteers joined members of the FBI, NCIS and US Marine Corps in the tireless search to find little Casey. Hours passed and night fell, bringing bouts of heavy rain and wind.

Casey was somewhere out there, all alone, without any food or water.

Then came the tip that broke the case wide open. Someone reported hearing the sound of a child crying in the woods. It sounded like he was calling out for his mother.

Two days after Casey went missing, just before 9:30 p.m., Chocowinity EMS Cpt. Shane Grier ventured out about 50 yards into the woods where the voices were heard and found Casey, half a mile from where he disappeared. He was tangled up in the thick brush with bruises and scrapes on his body, but was otherwise in good health. Rescuers were stunned. “Even a trained professional would have difficulty in that environment,” Shane told WLOS.

Shane praised the community for their efforts and support and believes a higher power was at play. “Somebody looked after him. That was God at work.”

And in a surprising twist, it turns out Casey may not have been alone the whole time…

“He told us that his best friend the bear was with him to keep him safe.”

Lady Gaga Brings Bradley Cooper Onstage To Perform ‘Shallow’ Live For The First Time Ever

Lady Gaga is currently in the middle of “Enigma,” her new Las Vegas residency. At her most recent concert, she treated her audience to a huge surprise — by bringing out Bradley Cooper for their live onstage debut.

“So a really good friend of mine… I don’t know if you know him but his name is Bradley. So I’m gonna be a little chance-y… Yo Bradley, you wanna come up and do this one?”

The crowd went nuts while Bradley made his way from the packed house and all the way up to the stage.

Before breaking into their first-ever live performance of “Shallow” from “A Star is Born,” Bradley warned the crowd that he’d never used in-ear monitors before. Gaga, meanwhile, sat at the piano and accompanied her co-star and director while he crooned the first verse. At one point in a true show of support, Gaga knelt down in front of Bradley and gazed up at him while he sang.

Then, she belted out her verse while Bradley watched her in amazement.

Bradley and Gaga are nominated for seven Oscar awards in the upcoming 91st Academy Awards, including best actor and best actress. “Shallow” already won a Golden Globe for best song in a movie, and it looks like the pair may appear together at the Oscars once again.

These two clearly have a very special bond.

Kryeqyteti Abdylhamid – Episodi 21 – Titra shqip

‘Payitaht Abdülhamid’ garners great interest abroad

Lately, Turkish series have gained large audiences abroad. One particularly popular series nowadays is Turkish state channel TRT’s show “Payitaht Abdülhamid,” which is broadcast via TV, the internet and through media abroad.

The director of the series, Emre Konuk spoke to Anadolu Agency (AA) about the show.

Konuk noted that he was very pleased with the interest shown in the series abroad and said that they are working at a very busy pace and then watch the series on Friday. “We don’t have much idea about what’s going on in the world. We understand from the interest shown to our actors and actresses when they go abroad and the messages we receive that the series is not just loved on our land, but we created something that has spread to the world and is successful. We are naturally very proud,” said Konuk.

He also noted that the shooting is very enjoyable as well and added, “‘Payitaht Abdülhamid’ is an important project for history. We are commemorating the life of a very important person. Sultan Abdülhamid was one of the most important sultans of the Ottoman Empire. His time was a very rough period. The end of the Ottoman Empire. He postponed the collapse of the Ottoman Empire for 30 years and maybe, built the foundation of today’s Turkey. Therefore, it is a project I enjoy. While we do not learn history from such series, they increase attention for our reading history, so we can say that we have reached our goal.”

‘This is our second home’

Bülent İnal, the leading actor of the series who plays Sultan Abdülhamid noted that they visited a film festival in Qatar’s capital Doha and received great reactions. “We were not aware that ‘Payitaht Abdülhamid’ was so eagerly watched in Doha. They have been translating and publishing it on the same day over YouTube or other social media. They welcomed us with great love. We get the same attention and love from other Arab countries over social media. The number of fans of Payitaht is increasing day by day,” said İnal. He added that they continue their job with the same seriousness and the same love.

İnal noted that the series is going on at full speed and said, “It is pleasant. We are like a family now. This is our second home. We are here every day.”

Real history told to new generation

Bahadır Yenişehirlioğlu, who plays “Tahsin Pasha” in the series, noted that “Payitaht Abdülhamid” was not an ordinary series, and they are not doing something for popular culture.

He added that while they work hard, everyone from the actors and producers to anyone who contributed to the series is motivated that “Payitaht Abdülhamid” transcend the borders of Turkey and get great feedback from the world.

“We know that we are watched with great interest despite all the limitations, in all geographies the Grand Ottoman Empire has contacted. We are trying to create a consciousness. It is a very important series since it shows the global powers of the past and who the exploiters were, how they survived until today and that the philosophy still continues even though the states and individuals have changed. My claim as a writer is that it is not possible for a generation that does not know its history, is not aware of its history and one that has not internalized it, to create a future.

“Turkey has believed in a history that was imposed upon it. The Arab world tried to understand us through the history imposed by the British. But the contacts we have established in these geographies show that we are actually delivering our own history, people, culture, religion and history to these geographies. We are telling our real history to younger generations and that is what is important. We are telling what someone, who was defamed for years, was actually doing; what his ideas were along with how he was concerned with the whole of the Islamic geography; how he was alongside the oppressed and what kind of internal and external forces he had to deal with.”

Yenişehirlioğlu also added that the series has a lot to do with today. “It may be perceived as if we are not doing a series about today’s world. Yet this is not the case. What happened yesterday coincides with what happened today. We are expressing a historical consciousness. We are teaching our own history to our generation with high quality cinematography, script and shooting. Being a part of this and interpreting a character that is loved, trusted and can be leaned on is very pleasing for me as well,” added Yenişehirlioğlu.

Yenişehirlioğlu noted that they will continue without any break in season three and that it looks like they will also be shooting a fourth season as well.

‘It sheds light on the present’

Playing Egyptian Khedive Fuat, Hakan Yufkacıgil noted that the excitement increases a little more each week. “It is going pretty good for me as an actor. We are interacting with the audience. Their feedback is great. They support us greatly. I am playing a wicked character in the project and I’m researching about his past. This nation has had a very difficult time; they had to deal with traitors. While ‘Payitaht’ does not have such a mission, we are observing these from the outside. I believe we are shining a light on today. Our series is going very well. We take pleasure in working,” said Yufkacıgil.

He also underlined the interest in the series abroad and added that they are seeing great support from abroad and that people are under the influence of the series.

“Payitaht Abdülhamid” is screened on Fridays on TRT 1.
