When Your Uber/Lyft Driver Won’t Stop Talking About Nuclear

Every time Donald Trump gives a speech, there’s a profoundly uncomfortable feeling that washes over you – a feeling that’s familiar, but hard to place. Is it Deja Vu? Have you been here before? What is he talking about? How is he simultaneously the person who is supposed to be speaking as President of The United States of America, and the person who makes all of these insane claims about nuclear weapons?

You have felt this way before, and it’s your cab driver. The one who won’t shut up about some conspiracy theory he fell into on youtube, and the guy he knows who verified the whole thing. He can’t shut up, and you can’t move. And yet, you also can’t look away. Time has stopped, and for the length of this car ride, you’re stuck in a waking nightmare.

Well now you can relive this pain any time you want, because we’ve taken Trump’s actual words and rendered the scene playing out in your subconscious in beautiful 3D animation! Enjoy!

Peloton Bike Memes Make Fun Of the Luxurious Exercise Machines

Ads for the Peloton bike have been overtaking our televisions—and Twitter is finally pushing back.

Their depiction of the Peloton lifestyle—all spacious windows, beautiful people, and panoramic views—is equal parts enticing and unachievable. For the vast majority of us, at least. This fact was not lost on Twitter users, who took to the platform to mock the ad’s blatant misunderstanding of the average American’s lifestyle.

The vast majority of the tweets come from user Clue Heywood. “Love putting my Peloton bike in the most striking area of my ultra-modern $3 million house,” he began his thread, which quickly went viral this week. It only got better from there, as he shared screenshots of the absurdly expensive homes featured in every Peloton ad.

“When we visited my parents for Christmas I had to put my Peloton bike right in the living room, they didn’t have a home gym or a conservatory or anything ugh,” Heywood wrote alongside a photo of a Peloton user in a somewhat more achievable home.

“I have a Peloton at home, at work, and also one placed by the ocean-facing living room windows of our four bedroom beach cottage,” Heywood wrote.

“This is absolutely unacceptable Peloton placement,” Heywood wrote alongside a photo of a Peloton in a normal-looking basement. “This appears to be a basement and not a solarium, conservatory, grotto, inglenook, or rumpus room.”

“Our architect suggested a Peloton nook for our pied-à-terre,” Heywood wrote toward the end of his mid-afternoon Twitter storm. “They do not belong in nooks. They belong where an observatory would be, if you didn’t own a Peloton. We fired him.”

One user responded with a photo of a gorgeous, empty living room large enough to house my entire apartment two times over. “I believe I found the perfect room for my Peloton,” they wrote. Other users got in on the fun too. “I am so wealthy that I pay someone to ride my @onepeloton,” @TMcG1972 wrote.

This convenient workout machine is perfect for anyone with an empty veranda or grand foyer just begging to be repurposed for your daily workout. Just make sure the bay windows look out over your rose garden—or at least the New York City skyline. The Peloton bike starts at $2,200.

Simon Tells Audience He Hated Singer’s Performance Only To Fake Her Out With Golden Buzzer Slam

In 2005, Kechi Okwuchi was one of only two survivors of a horrific plane crash that killed 107 people. She was 16 years old at the time.

Kechi sustained third degree burns across her body and underwent over 100 reconstructive surgeries.

Four years after the crash, Kechi returned to college and graduated with honors. By this point, she had turned to music and singing as a way to cope with the trauma.

In 2017, Kechi first appeared on “America’s Got Talent” to share her story, and talent, with the world. Though she went on to become a finalist, Simon always wished he could have given her the coveted Golden Buzzer.

Kechi recently returned to the stage for “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” with a newfound sense of purpose and self-confidence. “This is my chance to follow my dream and I know what it means to actually be here right now,” she says. “I didn’t win last time and I feel like I have found my voice. This is my chance to prove I am a champion.”

Judges Howie, Heidi and Mel B absolutely loved Kechi’s rendition of Calum Scott’s “You Are The Reason.”

But Simon, the toughest judge of all, seemed disappointed in her performance. “I’m going to be honest with you,” he admitted. “I didn’t really like it that much.”

The crowd started booing Simon and Kechi looked defeated.

But then he surprised everyone by standing up and reaching for his Golden Buzzer. Within seconds, Kechi was sobbing tears of joy.

Kryeqyteti Abdylhamid – Episodi 22 – Titra shqip

‘Payitaht Abdülhamid’ garners great interest abroad

Lately, Turkish series have gained large audiences abroad. One particularly popular series nowadays is Turkish state channel TRT’s show “Payitaht Abdülhamid,” which is broadcast via TV, the internet and through media abroad.

The director of the series, Emre Konuk spoke to Anadolu Agency (AA) about the show.

Konuk noted that he was very pleased with the interest shown in the series abroad and said that they are working at a very busy pace and then watch the series on Friday. “We don’t have much idea about what’s going on in the world. We understand from the interest shown to our actors and actresses when they go abroad and the messages we receive that the series is not just loved on our land, but we created something that has spread to the world and is successful. We are naturally very proud,” said Konuk.

He also noted that the shooting is very enjoyable as well and added, “‘Payitaht Abdülhamid’ is an important project for history. We are commemorating the life of a very important person. Sultan Abdülhamid was one of the most important sultans of the Ottoman Empire. His time was a very rough period. The end of the Ottoman Empire. He postponed the collapse of the Ottoman Empire for 30 years and maybe, built the foundation of today’s Turkey. Therefore, it is a project I enjoy. While we do not learn history from such series, they increase attention for our reading history, so we can say that we have reached our goal.”

‘This is our second home’

Bülent İnal, the leading actor of the series who plays Sultan Abdülhamid noted that they visited a film festival in Qatar’s capital Doha and received great reactions. “We were not aware that ‘Payitaht Abdülhamid’ was so eagerly watched in Doha. They have been translating and publishing it on the same day over YouTube or other social media. They welcomed us with great love. We get the same attention and love from other Arab countries over social media. The number of fans of Payitaht is increasing day by day,” said İnal. He added that they continue their job with the same seriousness and the same love.

İnal noted that the series is going on at full speed and said, “It is pleasant. We are like a family now. This is our second home. We are here every day.”

Real history told to new generation

Bahadır Yenişehirlioğlu, who plays “Tahsin Pasha” in the series, noted that “Payitaht Abdülhamid” was not an ordinary series, and they are not doing something for popular culture.

He added that while they work hard, everyone from the actors and producers to anyone who contributed to the series is motivated that “Payitaht Abdülhamid” transcend the borders of Turkey and get great feedback from the world.

“We know that we are watched with great interest despite all the limitations, in all geographies the Grand Ottoman Empire has contacted. We are trying to create a consciousness. It is a very important series since it shows the global powers of the past and who the exploiters were, how they survived until today and that the philosophy still continues even though the states and individuals have changed. My claim as a writer is that it is not possible for a generation that does not know its history, is not aware of its history and one that has not internalized it, to create a future.

“Turkey has believed in a history that was imposed upon it. The Arab world tried to understand us through the history imposed by the British. But the contacts we have established in these geographies show that we are actually delivering our own history, people, culture, religion and history to these geographies. We are telling our real history to younger generations and that is what is important. We are telling what someone, who was defamed for years, was actually doing; what his ideas were along with how he was concerned with the whole of the Islamic geography; how he was alongside the oppressed and what kind of internal and external forces he had to deal with.”

Yenişehirlioğlu also added that the series has a lot to do with today. “It may be perceived as if we are not doing a series about today’s world. Yet this is not the case. What happened yesterday coincides with what happened today. We are expressing a historical consciousness. We are teaching our own history to our generation with high quality cinematography, script and shooting. Being a part of this and interpreting a character that is loved, trusted and can be leaned on is very pleasing for me as well,” added Yenişehirlioğlu.

Yenişehirlioğlu noted that they will continue without any break in season three and that it looks like they will also be shooting a fourth season as well.

‘It sheds light on the present’

Playing Egyptian Khedive Fuat, Hakan Yufkacıgil noted that the excitement increases a little more each week. “It is going pretty good for me as an actor. We are interacting with the audience. Their feedback is great. They support us greatly. I am playing a wicked character in the project and I’m researching about his past. This nation has had a very difficult time; they had to deal with traitors. While ‘Payitaht’ does not have such a mission, we are observing these from the outside. I believe we are shining a light on today. Our series is going very well. We take pleasure in working,” said Yufkacıgil.

He also underlined the interest in the series abroad and added that they are seeing great support from abroad and that people are under the influence of the series.

“Payitaht Abdülhamid” is screened on Fridays on TRT 1.

‘Would You Love Me If I Didn’t Have Skin?’: Query Tests Relationships

There are all kinds of ways to measure love, but perhaps this is the greatest test of all: Would you still love your significant other if they didn’t have any skin? When Twitter user @niall_gee apparently said “no,” it led to a domestic squabble.

The hypothetical conundrum is weird, for sure, and even calls to mind an infamous SpongeBob quote about having “glass bones and paper skin.” But many folks inspired by @niall_gee have asked their partners if they would stay loyal even if they did not have skin. (@niall_gee did not immediately respond to the Daily Dot’s request for comment.)

Some are arguing the deathly serious logistics of the very silly question.

Some Twitter users noted that an example of what a skinless human looks like can be found in the anime staple Attack on Titan. The mascot antagonist of the series, the Colossal Titan, defies basic anatomy and exists without skin. Confronted with this situation, it appears that many people would be willing to work through it.

Perhaps the question is just as petty as getting upset with a partner for something they did in a dream. But if they won’t stick around after you become a nightmarish body horror ghoul, is it really true love?

James McAvoy’s SNL Debut Showcases Split Talents

James McAvoy took his chameleon-like talents seen in Split (2016) and Glass (2019) and brought them to the small-screen last weekend for his SNL hosting debut. The sketches gave the Glaswegian actor a chance to really ham up his Scottish accent, as well as return to one of his most beloved family-friendly characters in a Narnia spoof that is anything but family-friendly.

Considering how many different accents we’ve seen McAvoy take on (and totally nail) in various roles throughout his career, listening to the Scottish accent that’s so thick it’s borderline incomprehensible tumble effortlessly out of his mouth is almost a little jarring – and it made for a truly hilarious sketch as he tries to coach Kylie Jenner’s PR team through landing an airplane.

Then, in a linguistic 180, McAvoy revives the gentle, soft-spoken faun Mr. Tumnus from the 2005 adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. This was the first role I remember seeing McAvoy in, and this sketch was wonderfully nostalgic, except of course SNL turned it into a horny parody and I’m going to have to unpack this with my therapist later. Oof, right in the childhood.

To help shake that from your psyche, watch McAvoy deliver a pretty strikingly accurate Philly accent in this toilet paper commercial focus group. Not only does he make a convincing Philadelphian, but his marketing pitches aren’t half bad. I’d watch those commercials.

16 Productive Activities That Are Guaranteed to Make You Feel Un-Bored

image

Social media and well, the internet in general, are testaments to how much we as a culture despise being bored. We’d rather scroll mindlessly through our phones and peer into the lives of people we barely know than sit with ourselves in silence not knowing what to do.

But next time you’re bored — be it at home, at night, or at school — keep these activities in mind. They’ll leave you feeling productive, energized and rejuvenated — and might even instill a lesson or two in your friends or kids.

image

Bored at home?

Try crafting.

Remember how creative you were as a child? There’s no reason to stop your creative pursuits just because art isn’t a class you take once a week at school anymore. When you’re feeling bored at home, why not looking back on your old photos and making a photo collage or wall frame? You could also go extra hard and try scrapbooking with cutouts from your favorite magazine or a postcard from a country you loved visiting.

Pick up a book.

Back in the old days, our information came not from screens but from bound books. Crazy, right? People would read them for hours and dive into the lives and stories of countless characters they’d never met. Think TV, but analog. If you’re bored at home, we guarantee you have some of these ancient relics lying around your house. Open one up and you’ll be surprised how the turning of pages will consume you even more than an endless scroll.

image

Adopt a pet.

There’s no way you’ll ever be bored at home again if you have a furry companion to tend to. Your cat or dog are sources of endless fun. You can watch them play with toys, throw a ball around for a game of fetch, or even give them a bath, if you’ve already exhausted your other pet activities. Bonus points for leaving the house and taking them on a walk, or to the dog park.

Take a bath.

If you’re alone and painfully bored at home, there’s no better moment to indulge in some relaxing self-care. It’s something that doesn’t just feel good in the moment, it’s also quite productive because it’ll give you and your body a reset for the rest of the week. Throw on some music or your favorite guilty pleasure TV show, and run yourself a relaxing bath. The stress of not knowing what to do will evaporate along with your body’s toxins and you’ll be feeling good as new before you know it.

image

Are you bored with a friend?

Start a puzzle.

Even boring activities are less boring when you share them with friends, and puzzling is definitely one of these. If you have a friend over and you guys don’t know what to do, pick up a 500 piece or 1000 piece puzzle. Then, gossip away about your relationship dramas or recount your favorite TV series in excruciating detail while you try to make sense of which pieces go where. Once you put it all together, you’ll feel so accomplished, you’ll want to frame your masterpiece.

Make a cocktail.

Not to advocate for substances, but booze tends to make any boring situation a little less boring. If you and your friend are trying to figure out how to spend your evening together, do something more exciting than just picking up a nondescript bottle of red wine. Instead, choose a cocktail or two (that use the same liquor, unless you’re in the mood for a nasty hangover) and try your hand at your favorite bar recipe. Before you know it, you’ll be a bonafide mixologist who doesn’t have to spend $18 dollars a drink for a night on the town anymore.

image

Practice some yoga.

We’re big fans of self-care, whether alone or in groups. Next time you have a friend over and you guys can’t decide what to do with your time, try some sun salutations. Look on YouTube and you’ll find endless tutorials and free classes for a 30-minute or hour-long practice. We recommend Yoga with Adrienne, or Yoga with Minelli, if you’re feeling 420-friendly. All you guys need is a yoga mat, and you’ll be feeling refreshed and productive faster than ever.

If you’re bored with your kids, try one of these activities.

Bake something.

If you’ve got children running around the house and still manage to be bored, there’s definitely a lot of parents out there who could take a page or two out of your book. We honestly commend you! Next time you find yourself in this enviable pickle, teach your young ones a skill in the kitchen. Baking is a good start as everyone can enjoy fresh chocolate chip cookies when they’re still warm from the oven.

Visit a museum.

What good are children if you can’t teach them culture, art and history so they can grow up like well-rounded individuals who can effect change in the world and leave it a better place than it is today? If you and your kids are bored one weekend, take them to the nearest museum. They’ll be able to take in some history and art and it’ll be a great way to get them away from the TV screen for a day.

image

Give back to the community.

There’s no better way to lead by example than by showing your kids the importance of volunteering. In fact, some workplaces even give employees time off to help others and it’s a lesson you can start instilling in your kids from an early age. Next time you’re not sure what kind of family activity to plan for the weekend, research some local volunteering opportunities in your area. You and your kids can choose to give back in many ways, be it by planting trees or helping women or children in need, and the activity will leave you guys feeling empowered, fulfilled, and like you made an actual change in the lives of the people around you.

Bored at night?

Meal prep.

If you’re looking for something productive to do with your evenings, planning, preparing and portioning your meals for the week is the most effective way to make sure you’re not over-spending on food. Plus, since you have full control over your menu, you’ll make sure you’re keeping your taste buds happy in addition to keeping your budget on track.

image

Clean out your social media.

Throw on your favorite podcast or TV series and scroll through social media, but in a productive way. Instead of mindlessly double tapping, try cleaning out your feeds on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. If there’s someone whose content is repeatedly spamming your page, go ahead and unfollow. This will ensure your feeds are perfectly curated next time you log on.

FaceTime a friend or family member.

If you’re bored on a weeknight, it could be a great time to catch up on your friendships and missed family convos. Though there was a time, not too long ago, when I would have recommended penning postcards or letters to people you haven’t spoken to in a while, these days, a quick FaceTime session will do the trick and leave you feeling like a great friend or family member.

image

Bored at school? Not anymore!

Make a bucket list.

Not to sound like a bossy adult, but there’s no good reason you should be bored at school. After all, this is the best part of your life and you should be absorbing all the information your teacher is throwing at you. But fine, if you’re in some advanced physics class you never agreed to, make a bucket list instead of taking notes. Sure, you’ll probably flunk out of the class, but at least you’ll know all the things you want to get accomplished before you die (or before your parents kill you for failing said class).

Catch up on celebrity gossip.

She’s dating whoooo? Stay up to date on celebrity gossip while at school (just don’t get caught looking at your phone in class) so that you and your girlfriends can compare notes about your favorite crushes and whose picture needs to be taken down from whose locker.

image

Sign up for an extracurricular activity.

Anticipation makes everything more enjoyable. If you’re bored at school, it might be because you don’t have anything super fun to look forward to after the last bell rings. To cope with this kind of boredom, sign up for a sport, school play, or even a non-competitive activity like a cooking club. You’ll pick up some skills, make other kids you can forge an after-school friendship with, and if worst comes to worst, at least identify a kindred spirit you can be bored with alone, together.

Also, we have to recommend scrolling through our site for trending topics, entertainment news, and cringey relationship stories that’ll make you glad you’re still single.

Chris Pratt Revealed He’s Doing A 21-Day Bible Diet Called The ‘Daniel Fast’

Chris Pratt recently announced that he’s undertaking an extreme diet in an attempt to shed excess weight — and his regimen has an unusual religious twist.

People reports that the Guardians of the Galaxy actor took to Instagram to announce that he’s doing the “Daniel Fast” in January.

“OK, hi, Chris Pratt here. Day three of the Daniel Fast, check it out, it’s 21 days of prayer and fasting,” he said in a video posted to his Instagram Story, also warning fans that he might be a little out of it the next time they saw him in person.

“It’s gonna coincide also coincidentally with the Lego Movie 2 junkets, so by the time you see me, I’ll probably be hallucinating. Stay tuned,” he joked.

According to Men’s Health, the extreme (and possibly dangerous) diet promises those who follow it will lose weight and “draw closer to God.” The Daniel Fast lasts 21 days and is so-called because it’s inspired by the Biblical prophet Daniel. In the Old Testament, he went that length of time consuming only water and vegetables. Dieters are expected to follow an extremely restricted eating regimen of only “foods grown from the seed.” It’s essentially a vegan diet, but even more restrictive.

This isn’t the only major life change to come about for the 39-year-old actor. He recently proposed to his girlfriend of less than a year, Katherine Schwarzenegger.

Social Media Influencer | Know Your Meme

About

Social Media Influencer is a social media user who has access to a large audience. In the context of influencer marketing, influence is less about argument and coercion to a particular point of view and more about loose interactions between various parties in a community.

Origin

The term influencer has been used as a marketing term before social media.

In 2009, the Federal Trade Commission ruled that influence marketing is treated as a form of paid endorsement, governed under the rules for native advertising; the agency applies established truth-in-advertising standards to such advertising and establishes requirements for disclosure on the part of endorsers (influencers).

Spread

In November 2017, The first program was introduced to study social media influencing at the college level. The main purpose of the initiative is to teach the correct way to use social media, which focuses on quality content and respect for ethical standards. As a result, once the courses are over, the newly formed professionals will receive certification and will be integrated in Condé Nast’s network of social influencers.

On July 31st 2018, Kylie Jenner was reported to make an estimated $1 million per sponsored post on her Instagram, which makes her the highest paid celebrity influencer on the social media platform, according to the 2018 Instagram Rich List compiled by Hopper HQ, an automated Instagram scheduler. Jenner is followed by singer Selena Gomez, who gets $800,000 per sponsored post, and star soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo, who earns $750,000.

Social Media Douchebag

“Social Media Douchebag” (a.k.a New Media Douchebag) is a media stereotype and a derogatory label used to describe someone who ostensibly engages in social networking and other fashionable online activities for self-promotion. The term may also be used to refer to someone who claims to be an expert in social media marketing. Similar to “hipster”, social media douchebag can often be seen as a self-parody phenomenon.

On October 17th, 2007, blogger Kelly Stewart uploaded the video “New Media Douchebags Explained” to YouTube. The video criticized people who work in the emerging social media industry, characterizing them as people who don’t really work and shameless self promoters. The video has accumulated over 148,000 views as of February 2012.

Palessi

On Oct. 27, 2018, The Media Marketing group DCX and low-cost shoe store Payless took over a former Armani store in Santa Monica, California and invited fashion influencers to shop around the “Palessi” pop-up. “Palessi” was a dressed-up version of Payless and convinced influencers that the shoes were high-end as a publicity stunt. The media marketing company DCX created a fake website for “Palessi” and recorded the launch party for the pop-up on Instagram (shown below).

Influencer Mural

Social Media Influencers Mural refers to a piece of street art in Los Angeles in front of which only people with over 20,000 social media followers may be photographed. It is guarded by a security man to enforce this rule. After being discovered in June of 2018, it was criticized and mocked online for being indicative of the ridiculousness of social media culture. The mural appears to be a viral marketing stunt orchestrated by an upcoming television show by the name Like and Subscribe.

On June 25th, 2018, Twitter user and Vice writer Justin Caffer tweeted his discovery of the mural, gaining over 5,300 retweets and 18,000 likes (shown below).

Fyre Festival

Fyre Festival was meant to be an expensive music festival to take place on a private island in Exumas, Bahamas. However, due to poor planning, many performers backed out and attendees who had arrived early were left stranded with little food and shelter, essentially creating a disaster-zone in which fights and looting broke out over resources.
The event was also highly publicized on social media by high-profile models and influencers including Kendall Jenner, Emily Ratajkowski, and Bella Hadid.
