The Bucks Steamrolled The Pacers In Game 5 Without Giannis Antetokounmpo Or Damian Lillard

No Giannis Antetokounmpo? No Damian Lillard? For the Milwaukee Bucks, this ended up being no problem. Milwaukee played host to the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night with their backs against the wall, as the Bucks needed a win in Game 5 to keep their season alive for another game. Despite going into it without the team’s two best players, Milwaukee managed to dig deep and run Indiana out of their own gym en route to a 115-92 win.

The Bucks rode a dominant effort on the defensive end of the floor to victory. While the Pacers are known for having one of the NBA’s fastest and most explosive offenses, Milwaukee’s defense limited them to only 36-for-81 (44.4 percent) shooting from the field and 12-for-38 (31.6 percent) shooting from three. No one on Indiana scored more than 16 points.

And on the other end of the floor, a pair of gigantic performances lifted the Bucks to a win. Khris Middleton, who has done just about everything he can to keep his team afloat in this series, once again looked like an All-Star. He went for 29 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists on the evening, which marked the third game in a row that he hit at least the 25-point mark.

But the big surprise was the play of Bobby Portis, who bounced back in a big way from his early ejection in Game 4. One of the emotional leaders of the Bucks, Portis seemed to feed off of the home crowd en route to a new playoff career high, as he also went for 29 points and pitched in 10 rebounds for good measure.

All five of Milwaukee’s starters hit double-digit scoring, with Malik Beasley going for 18 points, Brook Lopez putting up 12 points, and Patrick Beverley getting a double-double with 13 points and 12 assists.

The series will now head back to Indiana for Game 6, and one question looms over everything: Will either Antetokounmpo or Lillard be able to go? Antetokounmpo has not played all series due to a calf injury, while Lillard has missed the last two games due to an achilles strain. Both were listed as doubtful heading into Game 5.

While a tip time has yet to be announced, Game 6 will take place on Thursday night on TNT.

‘Timing chains’: Mechanics reveal the most common issues with Mazda cars

Mechanics reveal the most common issues with Mazda cars

Are you in the market for a new or used Mazda? Before you get your “zoom zoom” on, the good folks at Colorado-based Accurate Automotive have a few words to say about what issues you can expect to face if you become a Mazda owner this year.

But their viewers also have a few opinions as well.

On Apr. 24, the team at Accurate Automotive (@accurateautoinc) released a video captioned, “What are common issues with Mazda,” going over some of the issues they claim to have encountered with the make. The video currently has 185,000 views as of Monday.

One of the Accurate mechanics simply chimed in with, “timing chains” but others were more verbose.

“I know the older ones used to have some fuel issues … oil smoking; overheating,” one claimed. Yet another agreed that “timing chains, mostly timing chains” were the most common problem an owner could face.

Accurate Mechanic Dallas stated, “I don’t know. Mazda’s are more of like just normal maintenance stuff here. They’re good cars. Sometimes they have transmission issues but nothing too crazy. They’re good reliable cars.”

Another mechanic, who happened to be working on a Mazda when he was asked his opinion, claimed, “Mazda is basically a Ford. They have a lot of issues.”

Here’s where the video’s viewers’ opinions diverged widely from the staff members.

Nemesisjohn7 (@nemesisjohn7) wrote, “Compare [sic] a Mazda with Ford is insane. Mazda are reliable cars. Just as any mechanical machine all cars may have issues as time passes.”

“Ford used to own 55% of Mazda. not now Mazdas Made in Japan are great,” another viewer commented.

While one viewer added, “All the issues the techs could think of was during the Mazda/Ford partnership. That’s long gone now.”

According to the Cooley Mazda dealership website, “1979, the Ford Motor Company bought shares in the company and owned over 33 percent of the company by 1995. By 2015, the shares were sold and the Ford Motor Company no longer owned part of Mazda.”

The Daily Dot has reached out to Mazda via the company’s Instagram account for a statement.

According to a Medium article, while Mazdas “are generally known for their reliability and low maintenance costs” the vehicles have their fair share of problems.

The most common problem they noted was brake problems, particularly in the Mazda CX-9 model. According to the Medium blog, a 2014 study found the issue was related to “a material defect in the brake booster diaphragms, causing tears that lead to noise and slow performance.”

The author also called out several other problems including clutch failure, emission/electrical issues, and, just as the accurate staff had mentioned, “variable valve timing [issues], leading to loose timing chains.”

“Drivers have reported hearing a loud ticking noise when starting their vehicles, which is indicative of this problem,” they reported.

The Daily Dot has reached out to Accurate Automotive via TikTok messenger for further comment.

His Parents Ask Him To Speak Up During A Tutoring Session, So He Proceeds To Scream Every Answer At Them For The Rest Of The Day

Source: Reddit/AITA/PexelsSource: Reddit/AITA/Pexels

It’s only natural for parents to want their children to do their very best in school, as it sets them up for the rest of their life.

Some moms even play classical music like Bach or Beethoven for their baby in the womb, hoping that they will of give birth to a little genius!

But sometimes that desire for their kids success can actually be harmful to the kid, especially when their parents treat them more as a learning machine than an actual kid.

I know when I was young, the last thing I’d want to do was study all day. I wanted to go outside and play with my friends, you know, kid stuff!

So when this 5 year old’s parents made him study everyday, he resisted by answering quietly. When his Mom told him to speak up, he decided to comply, and yell every answer at her!

Check it out!

My wife and I take turns in tutoring my son who just started school this school year.

He is generally doing well in school but we still tutored him over the weekend to give him the impression that school is serious and that we were intent on him taking it seriously.

My son rarely pays attention whenever we tutor him during the weekend as he just wants to play with his siblings. We have 3 kids and my son is the eldest.

But OP said even when his son was paying attention, the tutoring session was still a struggle.

And whenever he would pay attention, he just stays silent whenever he doesn’t know answers to questions.

Or  he would answer with the most soft voice he could muster, despite the fact that he was very loud when playing or in general.

I would often scold him for this and he still persists on doing this every time (the not answering and answering softly thing).

And this particular way of acting out was how OP said his son’s malicious compliance started!

My wife was tutoring him yesterday afternoon when during tutoring she could barely get and answer out of him or was answering very softly.

My wife had had enough and finally scolded him for answering this way and asked him to answer loudly whenever someone would ask him a question.

Anyone on this subreddit probably knows by now where this story is going, this kid proceeded to scream all the answers to my wife’s questions for the rest of their tutor session.

But instead of being mad, OP thought it was absolutely hilarious!

Where was I the whole time you ask? Rolling on the floor laughing beside them at the fact that my son managed to pull this off.

My wife couldn’t really do anything about it since I was the “strict” parent.

I would like to clarify that this tutoring is only a review of the week’s lesson and would generally last from 10 to 20 minutes only.

And OP assured the comments that his son wasn’t being disrespectful, just mischievous!

Also, what he did was not acting out but just being playful. This is why he was never reprimanded for what he did because we know he is like this.

It wasn’t like full blown shouting or anything more like playful shouting.

We never force the issue because he is still young and needs his space to play, sing, dance and interact with friends (in fact we encourage him to do this more than the reviewing.

Sadly it just needs to be done and the teacher sometimes asks us to do this so there’s that.

Seems like this kid is going places! If he’s still that young and knows how to turn someone’s own request against them, he sounds like a pretty smart cookie!

Reddit thought OP’s son had an amazing case of malicious compliance, but also felt sorry that OP and his wife were pushing him so hard.

Source: Reddit/AITASource: Reddit/AITA

This user suggested that if OP and his wife really want their children to learn, then they should make learning engaging for the boy!

Source: Reddit/AITASource: Reddit/AITA

This user agreed heartily, saying that specifically reading every day will help their kids learn and train their critical thinking skills.

Source: Reddit/AITASource: Reddit/AITA

And this user turned the tables,  asking OP if he would like to have someone forcing him to work on his weekends.

Source: Reddit/AITASource: Reddit/AITA

Finally, this user, whose parents did the same thing to him as a kid, told OP that all it did for him was burn him out!

Source: Reddit/AITASource: Reddit/AITA

Let the kid play outside!

Let him live a little and give him a juice box and a jump rope, not a book and a notepad!

If you liked this post, you might want to read this story about a teacher who taught the school’s administration a lesson after they made a sick kid take a final exam.

Why Did Kristi Noem Shoot Her Dog? Possible VP Candidate

“Given that Cricket had shown aggressive behavior toward people by biting them, I decided what I did,” tweeted Kristi.

South Dakota governor and vice presidential hopeful Kristi Noem is doing the press rounds to promote her upcoming book, No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward.

You know what you can’t go back on? Shooting and killing your dog. Noem wrote about shooting and killing her dog in her upcoming book. So, why exactly did she shoot her dog? Based on public outcry, she likely also killed her future in politics and her chance of becoming a VP candidate.

Kristi Noem explains why she had to shoot her dog.

Cricket, a Wirehaired Pointer, was about 14 months old when Noem shot and killed the dog in a gravel pit. She specifically said that she “had” to shoot the dog. Based on her framing, she had no other choice.

The Guardian first obtained a copy of the book and on April 26, 2024, shared the tale of Noem’s family bringing Cricket on a pheasant hunt. The dog, in Noem’s own words, was “out of her mind with excitement, chasing all those birds, and having the time of her life,” you know, like how a 14-month-old untrained dog would normally behave.

After this normal behavior, Cricket jumped out of the family truck at another friend’s family farm and proceeded to “grab one chicken at a time, crunching it to death with one bite, then dropping it to attack another” — like most 14-month-old untrained dogs would probably behave.

Noem writes in her book, “I hated that dog,” it was “less than worthless
as a hunting dog” and “I realized I had to put her down.”

Kristi Noem shared the information in her new book without anyone asking about it.

Although it may seem unwise to share a tale about killing an innocent 14-month-old dog that was doing what most untrained dogs that age would do, Noem views it as a chance to show that she won’t back down on what needs to be done, even if it’s hard.

Two days later, once it was clear the story wasn’t going anywhere, Noem posted a much longer tweet explaining her action. She once again justified killing an innocent 14-month-old dog. She wrote, “The fact is, South Dakota law states that dogs who attack and kill livestock can be put down. Given that Cricket had shown aggressive behavior toward people by biting them, I decided what I did.”

A PETA representative reacted to what happened to Kristi Noem’s dog.

Although Noem does point out that it’s perfectly legal to kill your dog if your untrained dog does what an untrained dog does, she neglects to mention that obtaining a dog is optional in the state of South Dakota and every state in America. The statement from a PETA representative does a good job of reminding people about options when it comes to pet ownership.

PETA’s Colleen O’Brien wrote, “Most Americans love their dogs, and we suspect that they’ll consider Gov. Noem a psychotic loony for letting this rambunctious puppy loose on chickens and then punishing her by deciding to personally blow her brains out rather than attempting to train her or find a more responsible guardian who could provide her with a proper home. Noem obviously fails to understand the vital political concepts of education, cooperation, compromise, and compassion.”

Why Your Next Mattress Should Be Latex, Not Memory Foam

Do you ever feel like you’re on an eternal quest for good sleep? Have you tried everything from sleep masks and white noise machines to weighted blankets and herbal supplements? If so, it’s probably time to reconsider the most obvious element of good sleep: your mattress. Of course, when it comes to mattresses, for years memory foam has been the top choice for comfort. But today consumers want something that is more sustainable and healthy. And for that reason, more and more are turning to the Peace Lily Latex Mattress, a game-changer in the world of sleep. This 100% organic marvel doesn’t just deliver superior comfort; it does so without using any of the toxic chemicals that are bad for your health and the planet. Want to hear more about how you can get a better night’s sleep and help the planet at the same time? Then let’s talk about why you should choose latex over memory foam.

The Problem with Memory Foam

Memory foam mattresses, while cozy at first cuddle, come with a long list of not-so-cozy problems. Ever wake up in the middle of the night feeling like you’re sleeping on a radiator? That’s heat retention for you, a notorious trait of memory foam that turns your bed into a sauna. Do you often find yourself waking up with the morning sniffles or headaches that just won’t quit? You may assume that this is natural, but it’s often a silent signal of off-gassing—the release of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the synthetic materials memory foam beds are famous for.

But it’s not just about uncomfortable nights or mysterious sniffles. The environmental toll of these synthetic materials is hefty, contributing to our planet’s growing pile of non-biodegradable waste. As we become more aware of our ecological footprint, the choice of mattress becomes more than a personal comfort issue; it’s a health and environmental decision. Switching from memory foam to a more sustainable option like natural latex isn’t just good for your sleep; it’s a step towards a healthier planet.

The Peace Lily Latex Difference

Latex mattresses are in a league of their own when it comes to combining comfort, durability, and health. Unlike their memory foam counterparts, latex doesn’t trap heat. Instead, latex lets you enjoy a cool, serene slumber thanks to its open-cell structure that promotes air circulation. This means you can say goodbye to those sweaty wake-up calls. Plus, the inherent durability of natural latex ensures that your mattress remains supportive and sag-free, offering an unwavering comfort that lasts for decades, not just years.

Of course, while latex is fantastic, not all latex mattresses are created equal. What makes the Peace Lily Latex Mattress stand out is the fact that it is made of 100% sustainable, certified organic, non-toxic materials. We’re talking inner foam layers made from GOLS certified organic latex with sustainably sourced rubber sap; a cover and handles made from high-density organic cotton for a soft, cloud-like feel; and batting made from GOTScertified organic New Zealand wool for plush, breathable luxury.

To top it all off, Peace Lily is embarking on the world’s first regenerative latex program focused on recovering degraded soil using specialized agroforestry practices. With new estimates saying that in 60 years all of the topsoil in the world will disappear, this makes a real difference! Every single element and sourcing process is thoughtfully chosen for its sustainability, lack of off-gassing, and luxury comfort, ensuring you breathe clean air and reduce your carbon footprint while you sleep soundly.

The Greener Option

So what does sustainably sourced latex actually mean? The Peace Lily Latex Mattress is produced by tapping rubber trees in a way that allows them to continue growing, and thus continue absorbing carbon dioxide. In that way, every single mattress becomes part of a larger, greener cycle.

But the environmental benefits of this particular Peace Lily mattress don’t just stop at production. Sleeping on a mattress free from the toxic chemical cocktail found in many non-organic options means you’re resting in a cleaner, healthier space every night. The Peace Lily Latex Mattress boasts non-toxic, antimicrobial, and hypoallergenic properties, thanks to its natural latex and organic wool. These materials naturally resist dust mites, mold, and mildew, ensuring a sneeze-free, breathable sleep environment. With prestigious certifications like GOLS, GOTS, OEKO-TEX, and eco-INSTITUTÂź to back up these claims, you get the assurance that you’re sleeping on a mattress that meets the highest standards of environmental and health safety.

Peace Lily, Here for a Good Time and a Long Time

Worried that the Peace Lily Latex Mattress won’t be right for you? Don’t be. For starters, the Peace Lily Latex Mattress is a flippable mattress with two different firmness levels. One side is medium, the other is firm. And if you want something a little softer or firmer you can add a Peace Lily mattress topper for a fully customized sleep. But even if you try all that and you still don’t like the Peace Lily, that’s cool too, because they offer a zero-risk 100-night trial! Sleep on it, dream on it, and if you don’t absolutely love it, they’ll take it back and give you a full refund.

The Peace Lily Latex Mattress ships free, arriving at your doorstep compressed in a box, ready to expand into the bed of your dreams, all over the United States.
