‘The Diplomat’ Season 2: All The Details You Need To Know For The New Season (Update For April 2024)

The Diplomat Keri Russell
Netflix

TV viewers have made their love of Keri Russell known for decades, which led to six seasons of the former Felicity actress as a force of anxiety-ridden nature on FX’s The Americans. After that espionage-laden series wound down, it became clear, due to the overnight success of The Diplomat in April 2023, that Russell’s presence was missed. Netflix immediately renewed the show, and the cast quickly dove back into following up on that explosive finale.

Hey, audiences will never tire of intrigued-filled stories about government agents, and it’s nice to have a messy lady filling some of those shoes in the 2020s. Let’s get down to business on what we can expect from the dramedy/thriller’s second season, which has been in production in London.

Plot

Part of the appeal of this series is that Russell’s U.S. Ambassador to the U.K. (Kate Wyler) has plenty of at-home complications in addition to the demands of her career. A fitting way to mix that up would be to potentially kill off her husband, fellow diplomat Hal Wyler (portrayed by Rufus Sewell). Granted, we do not know if Hal will actually be (literally) bumped off the radar because the first season finale ended with the cliffhanger explosion.

Should Hal pass away, that will certainly place Kate into a new life dynamic, which would sure be interesting, given that there was finally some light on the horizon that her marriage could work out despite rough patches. No matter what happens to Hal, we do know that Kate’s world will already be somewhat shaken up by The West Wing star Allison Janney arriving on the scene as Vice President Grace Penn, who was previously discussed but never seen onscreen.

Further, we will soon find out whether multiple other characters, including Merritt Grove (Simon Chandler) and Kate’s Deputy Chief of Mission Stuart Hayford (Ato Essandoh), survived that same explosion. Additionally, we should learn whether Prime Minister Trowbridge (Rory Kinnear) truly orchestrated a terrorist attack upon the U.K. and what this will do to the already combative relations between the Russia and the U.K.

Cast

There have been no hints on whether Rufus Sewell’s character survived that explosion in the season finale. We do know that Russell will of course be back as Kate Wyler, who had a hell of a time maneuvering through her personal and professional hurdles at the same time. More possibilities for returns: Ali Ahn as Eidra Graham, David Gyasi as Austin Dennison, and Rory Kinnear as Prime Minister Trowbridge. As already revealed, Allison Janney will be on hand as well.

Release Date

Netflix hasn’t revealed a firm release date, but The Diplomat is expected to return in late 2024.

Trailer

No trailer exists yet, so here’s a behind-the-scene look at Keri Russell’s Kate losing her sh*t.

‘Why do people make this job so hard?’: Flight attendant shares the one thing passengers do that really grinds her gears

Flight attendant shares the one thing passengers do that really grind her gears

A flight attendant went viral on TikTok after sharing a storytime about difficult customers she dealt with during a recent shift.

Destanie (@destanieaaa) posted the nearly three-minute clip to her TikTok late last week. As of Sunday morning, her post had amassed over 292,100 views.

The flight attendant began her story by sharing that the flight she worked on was “completely full.” Due to a number of tight connections, however, she said there was a brief period when only about half of the passengers had successfully boarded.

“So, we are waiting on the tight connections before we shut the aircraft door,” Destanie said. She added that her flight had roughly “15 minutes left of boarding.”

And that’s when problems started to emerge.

Destanie said a woman and her daughter “grabbed” her to ask whether the flight would be full. After informing the pair that it would be, Destanie said the two asked to sit in an empty row across from them.

Destanie said that she told them no. But the pair wouldn’t relent.

“I walk away, and then she tells her daughter to move [to the empty row],” Destanie said. The flight attendant clarified, too, that this duo wasn’t the only pair trying to switch seats because they assumed the plane wouldn’t be full.

“Everyone [was] getting comfortable in seats that were not theirs,” she said.

In an attempt to rectify the situation, Destanie said she asked the mom and daughter to move back to their assigned seats. The flight attendant also said she promised them that they could move if the people meant to sit there missed their connecting flight.

Since a number of people were skirting the rules, however, Destanie said she ended up asking a co-worker to make an announcement encouraging people to sit in their assigned seats. This led the flight attendant to express frustration at the audacity of some of the passengers.

“I’m like, guys, please go sit in your own seats until boarding is finished,” Destanie said. “This isn’t Southwest. You can’t just sit wherever you want.”

She ended her video with a rhetorical question to viewers: “Why do people make this job so hard?”

@destanieaaa

Meanwhile we’re not being paid for any of this lol

In the comments, too, viewers expressed disbelief at the passengers’ actions.

“Who tf doesn’t listen to the flight attendant?” one person questioned.

“Why do people just not follow instructions,” another asked.

“It’s wild to not sit in your seat when you board,” a third person wrote. “Like, check the seating chart while you’re waiting to board if you want to know if the seats will be free.”

According to USA Today, there are dangers associated with leaving your assigned seat. On smaller planes in particular, it said, a seat switch can affect the safety of the aircraft. That’s because, before each flight, the crew ensures the plane is properly balanced. Moving seats could shift the plane’s balance in the wrong direction, making it harder to land. The piece also noted that moving seats can be “disruptive” and lead to an “unnecessary face-off between passengers.”

Create Your Dream Kitchen on a Budget with These 45 Stylish Tips

Kit includes low-VOC, low-odor, water-based acrylic paint and primer in one. Requires a one-day application process that dries in a soft, satin finish. Covers 100 square feet of cabinet surface (40 linear feet), which is typical of most kitchen cabinets. Ideal for use on wood, laminate and primed, or painted metal cabinets. Formulated to cover most existing wood finishes and paint in a single coat.

Promising review: “You can see a before and after in my pictures but this paint was AMAZING and a huge transformation to my outdated kitchen.

The Process:

– I started off by completely cleaning the wooden cabinets with KRUD KUTTER PC32 Prepaint Cleaner/TSP Substitute. I read a lot of reviews on this cleaner and heard that is was great for cleaning off oils and dirt and it really did wonders.

– I sanded down the cabinets.

– I then primed the cabinets with a special wood primer.

– Once the primer dried I used the Nuvo paint on the cabinets. I did four very thin layers of paint. It is vital that you keep each layer very thin because it will dry weird. I found that in the corner of the cabinets where paint puddled even a little bit that it would cracker so make sure that you keep thin layers

– Additionally, I ended up purchasing regular brushes outside of this kit. A few blogs said that they used the foam brushes; however I did not like how the paint laid on the cabinets with them.” —Danielle Joy

Insecure Friend Pestered Her For An Opinion On Plastic Surgery, But When Her Friend Tells The Truth…. She Throws A Fit

Source: Reddit/AITA/PexelsSource: Reddit/AITA/Pexels

There’s nothing wrong with being “touched by an angel.”

A little work here and there is becoming more and more common as procedures like Botox and lip fillers are becoming mainstream.

But plastic surgery, as many people learn, is not a cure-all for poor self-esteem.

If you were unhappy with yourself before, getting work done isn’t going to be a permanent fix. But this user’s friend had to find that out the hard way.

After pestering OP for her opinion on her plastic surgery, OP finally told her that all that matters was if she was happy with the work!

Check it out!

So I 34F, have a childhood best friend Cordelia 32F.

Cordelia was always one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen, but she’s always had severe self esteem issues.

Recently with the buccal fat removal trend , she’s been enamored by it.

She swore up and down she was gonna save up for it because she doesn’t like her “round face” (it wasn’t round or big at all).

So Cordelia saved up her money and went under the knife, much to OP’s chagrin.

She finally saved up the money and flew to LA to get the surgery, and this week she was healed enough to see some results.

Me personally, I think the people who get that procedure look bad.

But my opinion does not matter because if that is what makes them happy that is literally all that matters.

Beauty is subjective and as long as you love yourself, no one else’s opinions are relevant.

But when Cordelia wanted OP’s opinion on the work she had done, things quickly devolved.

Cordelia and I had brunch today and she asked me what I thought of her results.

I told her the Doctor did a good job at the surgery and I’m glad to see her happy.

She continued on and we were chatting, but then she brought it up again asking me how I thought she looked.

I once again told her that the surgery was very well done and that it looks exactly the way she wanted.

Unsatisfied with OP’s pageant answer, Cordelia demanded she tell her the truth.

Cordelia got upset and asked me why I wasn’t “giving her a straight answer” and asked me if I thought it made her prettier.

I told her that she’s always been a beautiful woman , and that the glow she has from the confidence it’s given her is a good look.

She told me to tell her if I thought she was pretty or not and I said:

“Your opinion is the only one that matters. It’s your face and im happy you achieved your goal.”

“I personally don’t like the look of it on anyone, but it’s none of my business because it’s not my face, you were beautiful before doing it.”

But in the immortal words of Jack Nicholson, Cordelia couldn’t handle the truth.

Cordelia threw a fit and poured her mimosa on me and told me I was a “jealous and petty *****.” I didn’t mean to hurt her feelings.

I don’t know why she wanted my opinion so badly, or why she couldn’t accept my answer, but I definitely feel like a jerk.

So, AITA?

Don’t ask questions if you aren’t prepared for the answer!

And OP tried to leave her own opinion out of it so many times, its hard to feel bad for Cordelia.

Reddit was quick to assure OP that the problem wasn’t her honesty, but Cordelia’s insecurity.

And this user who underwent surgery echoed this, saying it wasn’t until she worked on her own insecurity that she actually felt better about herself.

This trans commenter said the only person’s who you should be getting surgery for is yourself.

Another commenter pointed out that its always the most stereotypically beautiful woman who feel the most pressure from society.

And finally, this person echoed that, saying the popularity of celebrities only puts more pressure on women to look perfect.

If getting work done will make YOU happy, then do it. Thank you Dr. Zizmor!

Victor Wembanyama Got His First NBA Fine For Launching The Ball Into The Crowd After Beating The Knicks

Victor Wembanyama’s rookie year has been filled with firsts for the budding superstar on the beginning of his NBA journey. He’s had his first triple-double, first 5×5 game, and on Friday recorded his first 40/20 game in a very impressive overtime win over the New York Knicks, who got a 61-point performance from Jalen Brunson in the loss.

Wemby put on quite a show for the home crowd with that performance and tried to let someone go home with a souvenir, as he launched the game ball into the crowd after stealing the Knicks last gasp attempt at getting the ball down court.

That, of course, is frowned upon by the league, even if it was done in celebration rather than frustration, and on Sunday the league gave Wembanyama another first: his first official fine. The likely Rookie of the Year will fork over $25,000 for chucking the ball into the stands in celebration, learning an expensive lesson in what is and isn’t allowed by the league.

Wembanyama doesn’t seem like the type who will get a ton of fines as his career progresses, but he has now opened his account with the league office. I’m sure he’ll be just fine paying this one, but I doubt we’ll see him duplicate this celebration again this year so as not to have to make another donation.

‘You’ll end up paying more for the car than you should’: Customer exposes the technique car dealers use to ‘confuse you’ when negotiating price

Expert exposes how car dealers try to 'confuse you' when trying to negotiate price

When buying a car, one can quickly become overwhelmed by the mess of jargon, car models, and prices. This, some argue, is intentional—dealerships want to put customers on the back foot so they will be in a worse place when it comes time to negotiate.

Over the years, many internet users have shared advice on how to regain power in this fraught negotiation dynamic. Some have warned about what you should and should not tell a worker at a car dealership; others have simply explained what leading questions a worker at a car dealership may use to try to get you to buy a vehicle. One user even revealed what the sole focus of those shopping for a car should be when entering a dealership.

However, dealerships are aware of shoppers’ methods to try to circumvent their typical sales process. As a result, they’ve developed techniques to attempt to put customers in a place where they will be limited in their arguments and negotiation abilities.

One method for doing this, Reddit user u/SuperSimpleSam writes on the subreddit r/YouShouldNow, is employing what dealerships call a “4 square.”

The user links to an article in Consumer Reports detailing exactly what a 4-square chart is. In short, a worker at a dealership will bring you a sheet divided into four parts: trade-in value, price, down payment, and monthly payment. This, u/SuperSimple says, directs the customer’s attention away from what will hit their pockets most and toward an area where the dealership is more comfortable negotiating.

“Instead of just dealing with the final price of the car they will have you thinking about the other terms like monthly payment,” the Redditor explains.

As the Consumer Reports article notes after speaking with a man named Alan Slone, the 4 square process is designed to be overwhelming, with the customer asked to initial the form before it even begins to provide some idea that what they are doing is official, when in reality such an agreement is not legally binding.

From there, there are several ways that the dealership can manipulate the customer. The first two boxes are trade-in value and price; dealerships can fill these sections out with a low trade-in value and a high price, both areas where they may otherwise negotiate.

This is why the bottom two sections are down payment and monthly payment. By redirecting customers’ attention to these areas, they can pressure the customer into a down payment with which they may not be comfortable, or stress the importance of a lower monthly payment price as opposed to a lower overall price.

“THESE NUMBERS ARE MEANT TO INSULT YOU AND PUT YOU ON THE DEFENSIVE, ESPECIALLY THE LAST TWO,” notes the Consumer Reports article. The article also notes that a salesperson may “fold the four square so that the only figures you see when you’re talking are the down payment and monthly payment.”

Instead of falling for the 4 square, Reddit users say to come into the dealership with a singular focus.

“…Tell them you want an OUT THE DOOR PRICE. All taxes, fees, etc included. Thats all that really matters,” wrote a user. “Once you have it, dont let it go up.”

“30 years ago, I read a Consumer Reports article about haggling for cars, and it said to take that paper and flip it over and say that you are only discussing bottom line price. And that’s what I do,” added another.

Others suggested ways to deflate the salesperson’s power.

“Having worked in sales, I’ve found it’s a wonderful advantage when you can tell a salesman is going into a ‘bit,’ like the 4-square,” detailed a commenter. “When they start into it, you can say, ‘Oh, I know this one. Go ahead, do your thing…’ and it takes a lot of the gas out of their balloon.”

Further users simply advised that shoppers be careful about where they opt to buy cars.

“4 square is a shell game – they just move money around to make the square you’re paying attention to the number you want,” stated a user. “And if they pull this sh*t on you, just walk out – it’s likely they’re scammy across the board.”

China’s Birth Rate Is Dropping Significantly And Is Destined To Cripple Their Population Growth

Source: ShutterstockSource: Shutterstock

Human beings have kind of always treated everything like a race, or a competition, between countries and people.

It must be deep in our nature, which means that hearing that China is struggling with at least one thing probably makes Westerners feel the slightest bit gratified.

The thing is, when it comes to the health of the planet, we’ve all really been in this together.

The bit of data that we’re talking about has to do with their birth rate – and the fact that it made a sharp decline between 2022 and 2023.

Source: ShutterstockSource: Shutterstock

In 2022, 9.56 million babies were born to the 1.4 billion residents of China.

In 2023, that number dropped to 7.88 million.

There’s a dark economic cloud hovering over the country, which is likely why the government scrubbed these figures from the website where they were originally published after just a few minutes.

In the 1970s, the ruling Communist Party in China instituted the famed “one child policy” in an attempt to control their booming population. That policy was revised in 2016, but these numbers suggest numbers are continuing to drop precipitously.

Source: ShutterstockSource: Shutterstock

This is combined with a faltering economy and high unemployment rate, which explains a lot; no one who doesn’t have a good job is going to want to add (more) kids to the mix.

Of course, China is not alone with this startling issue.

Japan has been experiencing population drops for years, and places like Taiwan, Russia, Europe, and even America are contributing to what can only be called a global trend.

University of Maryland professor Philip Cohen has gone on record saying “people, especially women, have more lucrative things to do,” than have babies and raise children.

Other suppositions are that babies are too expensive, the economy is too volatile, climate change is too unpredictable, or they just plain don’t want to.

On the other side of the spectrum, many countries in Africa are on an opposite trajectory.

Source: ShutterstockSource: Shutterstock

Women in Niger are having 6.73 children apiece, and some wonder if Africa could be the new hub of education, entrepreneurship, and cultural importance as these millions of kids come of age.

Could Africa be the new China?

We’re going to have to wait and see, but we have time since there aren’t too many kids around begging for our attention.

If you thought that was interesting, you might like to read a story that reveals Earth’s priciest precious metal isn’t gold or platinum and costs over $10,000 an ounce!

Kodak Black’s Lawyer Responds To The Limo Company Suing The Rapper For Over $618K In Unpaid Services

Kodak Black has had a few unfortunate runs with the law in the last two years. Since his release from prison in February, the “Last Day In” rapper has kept a relatively low profile.

But it appears his alleged past actions are catching up with him. According to HipHopDX (a fellow subsidiary of Warner Music Group), Kodak is being sued by a transportation service company for unpaid services.

In the documents filed on March 27, I&D Concierge, a limo company based in Queens, New York, accused Kodak of supposedly racking up a tab of $618,070.10. A representative for the business alleged that for several months, Kodak would average out six figures in transportation needs.

However, Kodak Black’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, spoke with TMZ. “I&D took full advantage of his client when he was going through a rough patch,” he said. “And capitalized on the situation.”

Cohen alleges that I&D “ran the clock” when Kodak would call for a car. Due to the hour-long wait, Kodak decided to order an Uber instead, forgetting to cancel his initial request with I&D. However, the I&D driver arrived at his home and sat there until Kodak came back; the company went on to bill him for up to 16 hours.

Read the full excerpt listed in the court paperwork below.

Commencing in September 2018, the defendant engaged Plaintiff’s services and began using Plaintiff for its transportation needs on a regular basis. From September 2018 to December 2023, Defendant’s charges with Plaintiff averaged approximately $150,000 to $200,000 per month.

Between January 2023 and December 2023, in accordance with the agreement and terms between the parties, as well their course of dealing, Plaintiff provided Defendants, pursuant to their specific instance, request and confirmed order, the following services totaling $618,070.11 (the “Charges”).
