NC State’s Magical Run Continues To The Final Four Thanks To Another Huge Night From DJ Burns

Three weeks ago, NC State was 17-14, the 10-seed in the ACC Tournament and staring down the potential of a horrific first round loss to lowly Louisville as they trailed the Cardinals at the half.

However, since then they have done nothing but win, rattling off eight straight wins to earn an automatic qualifier into the NCAA Men’s Tournament and reach the Elite Eight in Dallas, facing a familiar foe in the form of their in-state rival Duke. The Wolfpack have become America’s Team in this run, not just because they’re an 11-seed making a run (coming from a power conference, it’s hard to have a true Cinderella tag), but because they have the Big Fella, DJ Burns Jr., leading the charge.

Burns has become everyone’s favorite player during March Madness, as the man built like a left tackle is absolutely cooking opponents. What makes Burns so enjoyable to watch is that he’s so skilled, both as a passer and finisher, and NC State runs everything through him when he’s on the floor, allowing him to make the decisions on where the ball goes — basically acting as their Nikola Jokic.

Against Duke on Sunday evening, Burns put forth his masterpiece, carving up the Blue Devils to lead a second half comeback that saw the Wolfpack not only erase a 6-point halftime deficit but run away to a double-digit win. Burns had the Duke frontcourt in the blender, going to work any time they didn’t double him by steadily backing them down and hitting them with an array of moves and finishes off the dropstep.

It’s not just Burns that leads the charge for the Pack, as another DJ, DJ Horne, gets the job done for NC State from the perimeter, forming a fairly incredible 1-2 punch that has been nothing short of sensational all month long.

Still, it’s Burns that is the breakout star of the Tournament and, fittingly, he was the one that put the exclamation point on the win with an and-1 as they broke the Duke press with two minutes to play — and did it again with a minute to go.

Burns finished with 29 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while Horne added 20 points to lift the Pack to a 76-64 win over the Blue Devils. Next up for Burns and the Wolfpack will be their biggest (literally) test yet, as they face Zach Edey and Purdue in the Final Four in a matchup of big men that would make Big E blush.

37 People Who Uncovered Huge Webs Of Lies

11.

“Very early on in my recently ended seven-year relationship, my now-ex shared with me that she had cancer. Considering the three kids she had and the lack of participation of their fathers in their lives, I entered the relationship knowing full well what could be down the road. Naturally, I developed a very strong sense of responsibility and eventually felt as if her kids were basically my kids, too, and the paternal role I felt seemed to be reciprocated by everyone involved. Ex and I got engaged. In time, unconditional love developed, and within maybe 18 months, I was ‘Dad’ to a 12-year-old girl, her eight-year-old sister, and a two-year-old younger brother. This was a big deal to me, and I took it seriously. I was so happy and proud to be a good father and partner.”

“I was also extremely busy working and oftentimes managed my new family life solo when the ex was struggling to find good days in the unpredictably uncomfortable challenges she/we faced in the landscape of her cancer diagnosis. Difficult as life can become, I persevere for those I care about and carry on I did. I always focused on the happiness and health of my new family.

Maybe three years in, I began to realize how seldom my ex went to the doctor. It seemed like she was going to her pain management appointments regularly, but that was it. I noticed little in the way of actual disease treatment. Eventually, I became concerned my ex wasn’t making any efforts towards therapies that could potentially improve her condition, possibly extending her overall wellness and life expectancy. As we are both still in our thirties, I felt this was an important aspect for everyone involved. It’s bad enough that so many younger kids don’t have one or both parents, so why not do what we can to prevent those kids from unnecessary tragic loss if at all possible, right? Obviously, I’d prefer not to lose my fiancé sooner rather than later. Long story short, my inquiry regarding her lack of treatment beyond pain meds blew up in my face and revealed a very different, very aggressive, and loud response from my ex than I’d known previously. I may have crossed a line. I get that. But the disproportionate response I got raised flags. Flags bordering on verbal and emotional abuse in response to a gently proposed conversation about her long-term health. It seemed kind of like it was a deterrent to prevent me from EVER bringing it up again. So, I didn’t bring it up for three more years. During that time, nothing changed in regard to her health or treatment. She seemed pretty healthy unless she was too high on her meds to stay awake and take care of her/our kids while I was at work.

Turned out she never had cancer. Or any health issues outside of a drug addiction. I myself am a recovering addict, so I didn’t leave her, shame her, or even change what I was doing as a dad to her kids after I came to my conclusion. But when her secret had been discovered, and she knew I knew, the covert narcissist made sure I would regret discovering her well-hidden truth. Within two months of my revelation, I was suddenly receiving every imaginable form of domestic abuse. After just dealing with it for another couple of months, for the kids’ sake, holding out for better times to come, I was summarily told to leave under threat of calling the cops, for some reason. The family I’d given every waking moment of myself to for years is suddenly no longer my own. Like, how can she do that to her kids? I get it now that I got used, hard. Where do we draw the line? How do people disregard kids like that? Still messes me up to this day.”

‘I always get a refund when they do this’: Uber Eats customer orders a Little Caesars pizza, can’t believe what driver ends up delivering

Uber Eats customer orders a pizza, can't believe what driver ends up delivering

In the Wild Wild West that is the internet, where every meal can become a story, a Reddit user named Samantha (u/TG3RL1LY) took to the r/UberEATS thread to share a culinary disaster that left the internet amused and empathetic.

The post, which quickly garnered 11,000 upvotes, was appropriately titled, “My ‘driver’ was on a bike and wore my order on his back…” with a chilling subheader, “It was also cold.” The photograph showcased a pizza that had seen better days: Folded upon itself and crammed to one side of the box.

As is often the case with anything uploaded online, commenters had a lot to say. One user, in an attempt to look on the bright side, remarked, “Respect the hustle bro,” praising the driver’s determination to deliver the goods. Another added a pinch of wit to the discourse, calling the mishap an “‘almost calzone.”

“Hey, at least you got your food,” added a third.

Meanwhile, another user quipped, “This is actually how the pizza comes out of the oven at Little Caesars,” throwing some good old-fashioned shade at the pizza chain.

Many others dogpiled this sentiment, hating the quality of Little Caesars. In contrast, a spirited defense for the pizza emerged with one commenter chipping in, “All the little Caesar’s hate is unwarranted and I will not stand for it, going to get some right now.”

Interestingly, despite the unfortunate delivery tale, Little Caesar’s had recently been in the news for a more positive reason. Their launch of “Crazy Puffs” -puffs filled with cheese, pepperoni, and dough-had been making waves. Described as “pockets of pizza perfection,” these $3.99 treats had influencers and food enthusiasts buzzing, a stark contrast to the Reddit fiasco.

However, Samantha’s post shines a light on a larger issue: The rising costs and challenges of delivery services in bustling urban environments like New York City. With the city raising the minimum wage, delivery platforms such as Uber Eats and DoorDash have responded by increasing their fees, a move that has added an average of $4 to the cost of delivered meals. This price hike has sparked legal action, with both companies suing the city over the increased costs.

Amid this tumultuous mishap, one can’t help but sympathize with the customer’s plight. With delivery fees on the rise, receiving a cold, deformed pizza feels like adding insult to injury. While a refund might offer some consolation, the anticipation and disappointment surrounding what should have been a simple pleasure—enjoying a hot pizza at home—cannot be quickly or easily remedied.

15 Impossible Beauty Standards Women And Girls Are Sick Of

“Opt out? Where are we gonna work? (Particularly, but not limited to when you’re starting out.) Because ‘opting out’ means cutting the pool of jobs to an even smaller number of possibilities.

Black girls learn this very young. It’s why my first few paychecks went to haircare as a teen. You don’t have a choice when you’re literally told your well-maintained natural hair is ‘wild’ and could be more ‘professional.’  It is certainly not unique to me. Most Black women have heard similar things at some point in their lives.

(Women, in general have this problem regarding their looks. I do think it’s heightened for POC who don’t fall within the ‘normal standards’ of beauty, however.)”
