It’s hard to imagine what a person has to do to get banished from a Walmart. This is the store where it’s not unusual to see someone walking around wearing blankets and Snuggies — with nothing on underneath..

But this woman found out that, while Walmart has no problem with people walking around their stores rocking shirts like this, sipping wine from an emptied-out Pringles can at 6:30 am is apparently not kosher in their book. So not kosher, they notified the police of her activity. The cops found the offense serious enough to track her down.

They found the woman at a restaurant not far from the retail superstore and informed her she’s no longer welcome in that particular branch of the Late Sam Walton’s legacy. I don’t know how Walmart bans work, but I’d like to think there’s now a photo of this woman hanging in every single location around the world.

The powers that be at Walmart may have had a problem with the woman because she was drinking alcohol while operating one of their electric carts, but I’d like to think they were just jealous that they didn’t think of concealing their alcoholic beverages with the same ingenuity.

Once the internet caught wind of this woman’s visionary boozing-while-shopping hack, they applauded her efforts.

People even came up with their own wine and Pringles pairings, and tons of people weighed in on the conversation, including celebrities who really didn’t understand what the big deal was. The woman should’ve been allowed to sip wine from an empty chips container while shopping at Walmart, dagnammit! This is America.

If I’m being entirely serious about this: would anyone even want to shop at Walmart while sober anyway? The store is a huge maze, no two stores have the same layout, and the employees are paid so little that it’s hard to fault them for not knowing or caring where anything is in the first place.

Honestly, Jess, I was wondering the same exact thing. They should give that woman a $25 gift card if anything.

Overview

The No Pants Subway Ride is an annual flash mob event in which transit passengers ride trains without wearing pants in January. Organized by New York City-based comedy troupe Improv Everywhere since January 2002, the event has grown into an international holiday observed in over 60 cities around the world, as of January 2014.

Background

The inaugural event began as a small prank by a group of early members of Improv Everywhere on New York City subway train on January 5th, 2002. In this prank, each participant entered the same car without pants for seven consecutive stops on an uptown-bound 6 train, intriguing dozens of other passengers in the same car and even managing to upset a few. The hidden camera footage of the stunt was subsequently uploaded to YouTube.

Precursor

According to the Austin Chronicles, the earliest known “No Pants” holiday has been hosted by the Knighthood of Buh, a collegiate club at the University of Texas in Austin, and observed across the campus on the first Friday of May as an end-of-semester prank since the late 1990s.

2003

The second event was staged by approximately 30 participants on a New York City subway train, with several people assuming characters for the first time. According to the report, the conductor eventually took notice of the prank and warned over the PA that “this train is not a playground.”

2005

The fourth event was staged by around 50 people and filmed by Showtime’s This American Life for a segment on the group.

The fifth event drew around 150 participants and took place on a New York City subway train on January 22nd, 2006. The event was highlighted in the news after it was abruptly halted by a police officer, leading to the arrest of eight participants on the 6 Train’s 59th Street platform. The charges were subsequently dropped in the court.

2007

The sixth event was staged by 300 participants on The event proceeded in a peaceful manner, with three police officers monitoring the assembly, and according to the group, it was the first year that “No Pants really started becoming diverse, with people of all colors, shapes, sizes, and ages participating.”

2008

The seventh annual event drew over 900 participants in New York and took place on three separate train lines. For the first time in its history, the event was observed elsewhere in nine cities, including Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Portland, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Toronto, Washington DC and Adelaide in Australia.

2009

The eighth annual ride drew 1,200 participants in New York and thousands of more in 21 other cities around the world. The event is noted for being the first No Pants day to take place during a winter storm in New York City.

2010

The ninth event was staged by 3,000 participants across six meeting points and ten subway lines in New York alone, while thousands of others took off their pants in 44 cities around the world.

2011

The 10th event drew more than 3,500 participants in New York and thousands more in 48 cities across the globe.

2012

The 11th annual event took place with nearly 4,000 participants in New York and tens of thousands more in 59 cities across 27 countries around the world. Several riders were reportedly arrested in Istanbul, Turkey.

2013

For the 12th annual No Pants Subway Ride, more than 4,000 people participated in New York and tens of thousands more in 60 cities, including debut rides in Shanghai and Hong Kong.

2014

The 13th annual No Pants Subway Ride took place with more than 4,000 participants starting from various meeting points over the city and converging on Union Square. Similar events were observed in 60 cities across 25 countries.

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been 45 years since Happy Days first aired. The hit television show was first released on January 15, 1974, and ran until September 24, 1984.

Throughout the eleven seasons of Happy Days, fans followed Richie Cunningham and his friends and family as they lived their lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The show’s main characters included Richie (played by Ron Howard), Warren “Potsie” Weber (played by Anson Williams), Arthur “Fonz” Fonzarelli (played by Henry Winkler), Ralph Malph (played by Don Most), Marion Cunningham (played by Marion Ross), Howard Cunningham (played by Tom Bosley), Joanie Cunningham (played by Erin Moran), and Charles “Chachi” Cunningham (played by Scott Baio).

Happy Days had two hugely successful spinoff shows: Laverne & Shirley and Mork & Mindy.

In 2015, Henry Winkler sat down with Variety to talk about his time on the iconic television show. He remembers his time on the show fondly, but the thing that has stuck with him most through the years has been his relationship with Ron Howard.

Before Ron became a director, he asked Henry what he thought of the idea. “We chatted about it while we were waiting for a scene. He said, ‘Do you think I could be a good director?’” Henry told Variety. “I said, ‘Ron, you could probably be a great brain surgeon, if you put your mind to it.’ (He had) confidence and humanity and will and perception, because telling a story is knowing the human condition.”

Henry and Ron became great friends over the course of the show, and Henry even became the godfather of Ron’s daughter, Bryce Dallas Howard.

If there was ever a man that wanted to make you feel inadequate around your wife or girlfriend, it’s Jason Momoa. The dude’s a super successful actor. He’s built like a tank and is super-ripped. He’s got the perfect tan. He’s got long, flowing, luscious locks and can surf and throw axes and swim like no one’s business. He hosted Saturday Night Live.

On top of all that, he’s a big goofball at heart and has a carefree attitude people just fall in love with. He’s the guy your girlfriend leaves you for but you can’t seem to hate him because he’s just so damn cool.

There’s tons of photos on the internet of Momoa posing with guys and their girlfriends. Well, mostly posing with their girlfriends while playfully pushing the dude’s off the side or keeping them away in the photo. He gets a big laugh out of it and always seems to be having such a blast all the time. He truly is an enviable man.

And if you hate that Momoa’s got such a charmed existence and is the apple of everyone’s eye, well then whatever you do, don’t look at these photos he took with his grandma.

The Justice League star traveled back to Iowa to visit his grandma and spend some lovely family time with her. He posted the pics on his Instagram page with the following caption:

After a string of critically panned films that failed to have long-term box office, DC is enjoying consistently high-yield weekend grosses for Aquaman. To date, the film has earned over $1 Billion worldwide. Not a bad return for the film’s $160 million production budget. Many attribute the movie’s success to Momoa’s performance and star power, and talks for a sequel are already underway.

So Jason’s got a lot to smile about. But even before his success in the DCU, Khal Drogo was known for enthusiasm and huge personality.

On January 9th, 2019, Instagram user pinkmeth.v2 posted a similarly edited photograph of United States president Donald Trump with a reference to Gummo’s song “Drip or Drown” in the description. The post gained over 1,400 likes within five days; additionally, a repost by professorpumpp gained 13,500 likes within the same period.

The government shutdown is hitting Coast Guard and other military families hard, but thanks to generous volunteers at emergency pop-up food pantries, everyone is able to put dinner on the table for their loved ones.

It’s been 21 days since the government shutdown began, but those in the Coast Guard are still required to work — without pay. January 11 marked the first paycheck of the year for these men and women; however, none of them saw a dime of it. Amber Broadway’s husband is in the Coast Guard, and they have two teenage boys. She told reporters, “It’s scary.” And even though Amber and her family have been through multiple government shutdowns in the past 14 years, she never thought she’d have to rely on food pantries to get by.

“There’s a lot of talk of ‘Well, you’ll get paid.’ Or ‘It’ll come eventually,’” she continued. “And that’s OK. It will come eventually. And we will be very grateful when it does, but in the meantime, it’s scary, because my kids need to eat today. Not eventually.”

And thanks to the abundance of donations from volunteers in the Boston and Rhode Island areas, Amber, along with other Coast Guard spouses and families, are able to provide for their loved ones.

“It’ll be OK, it’ll be all right,” Amber said. “Because there’s no party lines when it gets to that. There’s no wrong side or right side of the aisle. It’s just encouraging one another to get through this day and the day after that and the day after that.”

On September 7th, 2016, Apple introduced the iPhone 7. Among the features unveiled were the “AirPods,” wireless earbuds that would pair with the new phone. AirPods differed from Apple’s standard earbuds by being 100% wireless. They charge through a portable charging case and allow users to tap the side of AirPod to control either their device via Apple’s virtual assistant Siri.

Reception

Headphone Jack Controversy

The AirPods were instantly met with backlash, as people figured the small size of the AirPods made them easy to lose, especially for having a price of $159. People on Twitter mocked the news using the hashtag “#courage”, a reference to Apple’s tendency to chalk up design decisions to their “courage.”

Users sarcastically mourned the death of the headphone jack, while Android users teased iPhone users by calling the headphone jack an Android exclusive feature. Reddit user BTKSD posted an image of the head of an electric toothbrush in his ear to mock the AirPod’s appearance in a comment that gained nearly 4,800 points in /r/funny. People also compared the AirPod’s appearance to a hairdryer or simply old Apple EarBuds with the wires cut off.

Critical Response

Over the following two years, since the AirPods release, the product has grown in popularity among the critical community. In 2018, The Verge published an “audiophile” review of the product, who called the AirPods “Apple’s best first-gen product in years.” They wrote:

On January 9th, 2019, Twitter user @arnoldcrndo tweeted about a feature called Live Listen, which allows users to use their iPhone as a microphone that feeds sound directly into the iPhone. They wrote, “If u have AirPods 🎧, u can press ‘Live Listen’ to “On” and leave your phone in the room with someone and u can hear what they saying, thank me later.” The tweet received more than 50,000 retweets and 152,000 likes in four days (shown below).

While AirPods could be used for this purpose, Apple designed the feature for people with hearing disabilities. They wrote:

Made for iPhone hearing aids, sound processors, and now AirPods can help you have better conversations in loud places. Just turn on the Live Listen feature and move your iPhone toward the people you’re talking with. Live Listen uses the microphone to pick up what they’re saying more clearly.

Things just keep getting worse for 90 Day Fiancé star Larissa Dos Santos. 

Larissa tied the knot with mama’s boy Colt Johnson on the TLC series, but the couple is no longer together following another domestic violence incident that resulted in another arrest for the Brazilian beauty. Not long after the altercation, Colt filed for divorce and called out his bride on social media. 

“I don’t understand my soon to be ex wife. She comes to America with literally nothing. The suitcases she used for travel I provided for her,” he wrote. “On her arrival I already had clothes waiting for her to wear and everything she needed to start a basic life in America. Over the course of months I continued to provide for her, gave her shelter, food, and supported her wants and dreams.”

Colt continued, “When she wanted a dress or makeup I bought it for her. When she wanted to take ESL classes I found a class for her and drove her. When she wanted to go to a gym I took her to every gym in town and eventually she joined two gyms simultaneously. When she needed a doctor, lawyer, therapist I would always do what I could for her.” 

Now, with her second arrest and divorce imminent, fans want to know what will happen to Larissa and whether she will be forced to return to Brazil. 

Did Larissa get deported? 

Shortly after part two of the 90 Day Fiancé reunion special, Larissa gave fans an update on her immigration status on Instagram Live. 

“The government has the services to help, but the person who is my sponsor is not my sponsor right now. So I need immigration attorney — I know they have it for free — but it take a long time,” she said between tears at a friend’s house. “It’s really complicated to go, and it’s hard because I depend on my friend for everything now. But there are good days.” 

She encouraged her followers to send donations, even after her GoFundMe page was reported. 

“Thank you again for help me to [leave] this abusive marriage,” she wrote on her GoFundMe page before it was shut down, claiming the funds will help her with a “new start.” 

Larissa also accused TLC of making her say and do things for the cameras, and hinted the reality show is scripted. 

“Yes, I’m not perfect but I did everything to follow my heart. People don’t know the show, they created characters,” she explained. “TLC not want to help me, they are aware of the situation. I am crying because I am a woman, I have my pride and my current situation is very sad. Really sad for me.”  

For his part, Colt did seemingly admit to cheating on Larissa while they were married. “I would like to say yes I am human and I have faults,” he said in a statement on social media. “I most definitely made mistakes but my relationship with Larissa is more than what you see on TV…We are like any couple in the world with its ups and downs. We also have the fortunate misfortune of also exposing our selves for millions of people to dissect, diagnose and discuss.”

He added that he doesn’t not know how to handle the attention from female fans, writing, “These things mixed with a relationship that has its problems makes for a dangerous scenario. I crossed the line between fan and fandom. The reality sometimes is lost and this is something I have to handle in private.” 

As expected, Colt’s mother, Debra Johnson, paid the $299 fee for his divorce filing.

Kate Mara and Jamie Bell are expecting a baby, according to Page Six. Kate is reportedly five months pregnant.

Kate, 35, is known for her roles in television shows like House of Cards, 24, American Horror Story: Murder House, and a number of movies. Her sister is actress Rooney Mara.

Jamie, 31, became a star in 2000 with his role in Billy Elliot, for which he won a BAFTA award. Since then, he’s starred in movies like King Kong, Jumper, and Fantastic Four.

Kate and Jamie met while filming Fantastic Four and started dating in 2015. They got married in 2017.

This baby will be Kate and Jamie’s first child together. Jamie has one other child, 5-year-old Jack, with his ex-wife Evan Rachel Wood. Kate has absolutely loved becoming Jack’s stepmom. In July 2018, she told Us Weekly, “I come from a really, really big family and I’ve had kids around me my entire life. Family is everything to me and I like being surrounded by lots of kids and family at all times.”

Given that statement, it’s no surprise that Kate and Jamie are expecting their first baby.

News of Kate’s pregnancy broke during the Golden Globe Awards, when Kate told Emily Blunt that she was expecting. From there, word spread like wildfire.

Kate and Jamie haven’t confirmed their pregnancy yet, but they probably will soon, since Kate’s baby bump is reportedly starting to show.
