In April 2017, Rob Maresca died unexpectedly after falling off a ladder at work. He had recently celebrated his 30th birthday when the tragedy occurred.

Rob’s devastated parents, Bob and Marla, decided to donate their son’s organs in order to help save the lives of 15 other people. One of these recipients was Elisabeth Kepley, a former portrait artist who had been experiencing heart failure. Elisabeth was on the transplant list for a year before she got the life-saving news.

While waiting for the procedure, Bob and Marla gifted Elisabeth with a set of Rob’s old paints and art supplies. He, too, was an artist.

As a way to show her immense gratitude for Rob and his family, Elisabeth vowed to paint Rob’s portrait as soon as she was ready to paint again.

The year passed and thanks to Rob’s heart, 58-year-old Elisabeth can now bike, hike, run and even participate in triathlons. Rob has given her her life back.

And so, it was finally time to present Rob’s parents with the portrait Elisabeth had promised herself she’d create.

In this clip, watch the tear-jerking moment Elisabeth lifts the sheet off the canvas — giving Bob and Marla the chance to one again look into the eyes of their son and see him smiling back.

“The message I hope that my story portrays is that organ donation is the most loving thing that a person can do once a person can no longer use their organs,” Elisabeth told Caters News. “The gift of healing begins for the donor’s family when they decide to give the gift of Life to another person.”

Copyright Dispute

On January 14th, Star Wars Theory tweeted a screenshot of an email from YouTube that Disney and Warner Chappell had claimed ownership of the music in the video, which sounded similar to composer John Williams’ theme for Darth Vader The Imperial March. The tweet received more than 730 retweets and 3,400 likes (shown below, left).

That day, the Star Wars Theory creator Toos uploaded a video of himself explaining the situation. In the video, he states that he received permission from LucasFilm, the creators and producers of Star Wars, to make the fan film so long as he did not monetize. He agreed. The video originally did not play with advertisements, costing him “$80,000.” Additionally, he claims that he hired a composer to compose original music for the film based on the music of Star Wars.

Online Reaction

On January 15th, Redditor YoutubeArchivist posted the video regarding the dispute in the /r/videos subreddit. Within two days, the post received more than 110,000 views (86% upvoted) and 3,900 comments.

That day, many on Twitter called for a boycott of Disney, particularly 2019’s Star Wars: Episode IX. Many argued that the advertisements that profit Disney should be removed and that the YouTuber should be given an apology (examples below).

LucasFilm Interference

On January 16th, Star Wars Theory posted a video entitled “LUCASFILM STEPS IN! ORDERS THEM TO REMOVE CLAIM! JUSTICE!!” In the video, he explains that Lucasfilm reached out to Disney and Warner Chappell to take the claim down. The video received more than 620,000 views in 24 hours.

If you’re a fan of looking at moons and eclipses and have an affinity for death metal band names and the color red, then boy does Mother Nature have a treat for you this weekend. This Sunday night going into Monday morning, we’re going to experience a trifecta of celestial goodness: a Super Blood Wolf Moon Eclipse. I know, I know it sounds amazing.

The first thought that’s probably running through your head right now is, “there’s no way that’s an actual, scientific name for a natural phenomena” and if I didn’t know any better, I’d agree with you. If my science teachers in school taught me that this kind of stuff was going on in the world, I probably would’ve been more interested in all STEM studies and not just recess and what unwanted snack cakes I could scavenge from kids during lunch time.

But the name is the real deal, and it comes from a set of really rare phenomena culminating in a singular, dazzling spectacle. First, we’ve got a super moon, then a wolf moon, and a “blood moon” lunar eclipse.

Let’s break down what each of these three separate moon variations are.

What is a Super Moon?

These occur when a new or full moon coincides with the time of the month where the moon is closest to our humble planet. Because the moon is physically closer, it appears much larger than usual, hence the term, “Super.” Definitely sounds a lot cooler than XXL Moon, which is most probably the name of some adult entertainment featuring dudes with big butts.

What is a Wolf Moon?

A wolf moon is just the name for the first full moon of the year. I don’t know why it gets such a cool name, but I guess it has to do with starting the year off on an awesome foot.

How about the Blood Moon?

It’s always trippy when the moon’s supposed to be one color and then it ends up becoming a completely different one. The red appearance during the eclipse can be attributed to earth’s shadow. The way light refracts off of it yields a reddish tinge to our lonely, night-time globe hanging in the sky.

When’s the best time to watch it?

The confluence of all three lunar events will occur right after midnight on Sunday and will last for about 4 hours and 20 minutes (4:20 brooooo). The moon won’t be visible all over the world, however, due to the nature of the world’s rotation. But if you’re in North and South America, then you’re in luck.

If you’re not, well, you can check other people’s Instagram feeds for photos of the moon. Just don’t expect Anna Kendrick to want to look at photos of it.

Hard to blame her. Unless you’re some dope professional photographer with a telescope camera, your cell phone pics probably won’t capture the event in any way that does it justice. Just saying.

Makhia and Makyla Vincent, 14-year-old twin sisters from Detroit, were walking to school when they noticed a wallet sitting in the snow.

The twins picked up the wallet, peeked inside and saw credit cards and hundreds of dollars in cash. But when they pulled out a military ID, they knew exactly what they needed to do.

Makhia and Makyla’s grandfather is also a veteran. “I would hate if that was my granddad and that happened to him, so I knew we had to return it,” Makyla told WJBK.

The wallet belonged to Mark Walsh, a disabled Marine Corps veteran who dropped it in the snow on his way home from the grocery store. By the time he realized his wallet was missing, it was already too late; he had no idea where it was. All he knew was that he was taking a huge financial hit by losing all that cash, as Mark has been struggling to find work.

Makhia and Makyla tracked down Mark’s address and held the wallet up to the home security camera before leaving it on his front step and disappearing. He wasn’t home at the time.

When Mark’s roommate alerted him to the fact his missing wallet was mysteriously now sitting on their front porch, he rushed to check his security footage. He was shocked to see that the kind people who returned it were so young.

Detroit TV station WJBK heard Mark’s story and arranged a meeting between him and the twin sisters. He was able to thank them in person and returned the favor in an incredible way — providing kindness comes back around.

Rene Lupian’s future was looking so bright. The 22-year-old literature student was on track to become an architect… when tragedy struck.

On Number 7, 2018, Rene was walking home from his shift at In-N-Out Burger in Pico Rivera, California. After stopping into a liquor store, Rene became the victim of a robbery gone horribly wrong.

Police believe Rene gave the armed robbers the backpack he was carrying — but the gold cross he wore around his neck was found on the ground where he was shot.

Rene’s sister, Christian, believes the gold necklace was the main target, and that the robber was most likely attracted to it and tried to rip it off his neck.  “I would tell him sometimes, ‘Dude, don’t wear that out,’ but he was so proud to wear it,” Christian told the Los Angeles Times. It really meant a lot to him.”

That’s because Rene’s beloved grandmother had handed the keepsake down to him just six months before she passed away.

It appeared as though Rene died while fighting to keep his grandma’s gold cross.

Since the robbers fled the scene before police arrived, there was a mad dash to try and find the person(s) responsible. Composite drawings were released to the public and a $20,000 reward was offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Nearly one month after Rene was killed, it was reported that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department tracked down and arrested two men in connection with Rene’s death.

It is unclear whether Kane52630 was the original creator of the image.

On December 21st, Twitter user @Toasty_Nerd posted a video remix of the scene. The post gained over 9,000 retweets in one month.

Lynn Houghtling caught the bouquet at a wedding in 1968. It must have been a sign of good luck, because just days later she ended up meeting the love of her life.

After meeting and courting Lynn for nine months, James Gauthier received his draft notice and became a reading teacher for the Air Force. He was allowed 10 days of leave in December 1968 to leave his post and go home to marry Lynn.

The following month, James and Lynn got married a second time. This one wasn’t so rushed.

The happy couple from Tonawanda, New York went on to have two daughters and three grandchildren.

Fast forward five decades. James, now 72, spent weeks planning a very special 50th wedding anniversary celebration for his beloved Lynn, now 71.

When 13-year-old Braydon Self and his stepfather entered a Family Dollar store in Oklahoma, they had no clue of the terrifying scene they were walking into.

The first thing Braydon saw upon entering was a man aiming a gun at his stepdad. The pair had unknowingly walked right into a robbery in progress.

But instead of shutting down and letting the fear overcome him, Braydon used his quick-thinking and survival instincts. With the gunman’s focus directed elsewhere, Braydon ran to the back of the store and huddled in the stock room.

The teen pulled out his cell phone and called 911. Just as police arrived, the gunman escaped.

Still locked in the stock room, Braydon heard his stepdad leaving the store to track down the suspect, but he also knew it could have been the suspect coming back to hurt or even kill him.

Authorities eventually identified the gunman and found him at his home — where they uncovered evidence of other crimes that had been committed by the same man.

Now, Braydon is being hailed a brave young hero whose actions potentially saved lives that fateful day at the dollar store.

Retired NBA star Shaquille O’Neal, known as “Shaq,” recently listed his lakeside Florida mansion for $22 million.

The 46-year-old basketball star bought the 35,000-square-foot house in 1993. The home is in a gated community in Isleworth, Florida, about 30 minutes from Orlando. It sits on the shores of Lake Butler.

Now, Shaq is selling the massive house for $21.9 million. So, what exactly would you get if you bought this home? A lot.

Upon entering, you’ll find yourself in the grand foyer, which is complete with marble floors and two grand staircases. The foyer leads directly to the great room, which is two stories and over 1,100 square feet.
