Woman Sells Cheating Husband’s ‘Yu-Gi-Oh!’ Card Collection For Nearly $200,000

Perhaps you’re familiar with “Screw the rules, I have money!,” a quote from LittleKuriboh’s famous Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Abridged Series. Apparently, a betrayed wife in Japan has taken that mantra to a new level, auctioning off her cheating husband’s massive collection of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards for an astounding 20,503,000 yen, or $188,220.

“This is my first listing on Yahoo! Auctions. As an act of revenge against my husband for cheating on me, I have decided to sell his collection,” the user, named “dnlay04438,” wrote. “The items are unopened, so I’d be happy if I can get a good price for these…The boxes have been on a shelf with a cover over them, so they aren’t even dusty. I don’t have much familiarity with collectible card games, but to my untrained eyes the items have no damage or tearing, so please accept their condition as-is. Thank you.”

The cards came from the early days of the Yu-Gi-Oh! card craze and featured the Magic Ruler, Pharoah’s Servant, Curse of Anubis, Thousand Eyes Bible, Mythological Age, and Spell of Mask booster sets.

Bidding started last Saturday at 1 yen, less than a cent, before skyrocketing to a nearly out-of-control level. The auction was suspended by Yahoo! Auctions earlier than planned after cracking the 20 million yen mark.

At the time of writing, there is no way to confirm more details about the seller’s personal life, such as if her husband actually cheated on her or if the pair are still together. Still, as an act of “Hit ’em up style,” this is certainly one way to achieve sweet, monetary revenge.
