That said, sometimes folks don’t adhere to street signs ranging from street cleaning rules to standing and parking violations. And if you prefer to live life on the edge while parking, you’ve probably had a few parking tickets to your name.
However, when one woman shared on TikTok that she owed $13,000 in parking tickets, folks were stunned.

Whew, chile! In a TikTok video posted during the week of Aug. 28, 2023, TikTok creator Sophia (@sophiarosekellly) revealed every driver’s nightmare — owning thousands of dollars in parking tickets.
“Pay your parking tickets,” the video caption reads.
As the video starts, Sophia explains how she got into this predicament.
“I wasn’t going to share this because I feel that it’s so bad, but I feel like it’s my duty to share. It’s almost like a PSA to not do what I did,” she says.
Sophia explained that she went to the DMV in Los Angeles to register her car and got a crazy surprise.

“She looks at me and goes, ‘You owe 74 parking tickets,’” Sophia said as she showed the parking tickets. “She hand-wrote out every single parking ticket that’s on my record.”
“And do you want to know how much 74 parking tickets are? $13,000. So I had to pay $13,000 to the city of Los Angeles to get my car re-registered. Actually, it was more like $14,000 because of all the late fees and things and to register it.”

Sophia also said that when folks “drive on a smooth road with no potholes,” think of her.
“Because that’s where my money went,” Sophia said. “They should name a freeway after me at this point. I didn’t even know I had them.”

Sophia also said that she doesn’t want to hear anything from anyone about it.
“Yes, I’m bats— crazy. But if this is a lesson to anyone, maybe this will show up on your algorithm — if you have a parking ticket, pay it. Don’t let it linger because you will get f—– and have to pay a lot of money.”
TikTok users are perplexed regarding how Sophia owed so much money in parking tickets.
Granted, some folks may take a little while to pay a parking ticket, but they eventually get the job done. So, when people learned that Sophia was in the red with the DMV for nearly $14,000 in parking tickets, everyone was stunned.
“That’s insane, girl are you OK?” one person asked.

“The way I would go into cardiac arrest, OMG,” another user said.
“I am in the same boat right now and I can’t afford to pay for it. Almost all of the tickets are from parking in front of my own home in Pasadena LOL,” another person shared.
Interestingly, some folks were also amazed that Sophia was able to cough up $14,000 to pay the DMV. In fact, the majority of the comment section is filled with questions about what she does for a living.
Folks, please pay your parking tickets. It’s not worth it.
