Then, David flew to Chile, chartered a boat, and visited the island where 145 castaways spent months marooned and fighting amongst one another on the brink of starvation. The reason for their wreck? The Wager was chasing a Spanish galleon dubbed “the prize of all the oceans.”

Currently, Killers of the Flower Moon, adapted by legendary director Martin Scorsese and starring Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio, and many others, is set for release in theaters in October 2023. In July 2022, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Sorsese and DiCaprio acquired the rights to David’s then-unreleased book The Wager.

The White Darkness is also being adapted for Apple TV Plus as a miniseries with Tom Hiddleston in the starring role.
