According to the Huffington Post, Donnelly’s body was removed from a steep gully Friday morning following an overnight search. She was transported back to the base of the North Shore Rescue, and medical staff pronounced her dead.  Authorities say Donnelly called her boyfriend to report she was lost on Thursday—about an hour after reportedly posting a picture of the summit to her Instagram. Her phone lost connection after the call.
Officials also say Donnelly was not fully equipped to spend the night on the mountain. She reportedly had a small backpack and black winter coat on.

Sascha Banks said in a statement, CTV News reports. “Please know this: if you are in the backcountry and need help, call 911 – ourselves and our very experienced search teams will do everything we can to find you.” Squamish RCMP are working with the BC Coroners Service to determine all the facts surrounding Donnelly’s death.
