Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia have been making us smile, laugh, and cry for the last four years on This Is Us.
In a recent episode called “Storybook Love,” which aired on Oct. 22, Milo took on directing behind the scenes as well. “It was one of the best of our entire series, and I think that was pretty universal,” said Mandy. “I feel like the entire Internet would agree with that sentiment.”
Milo was happy to do it. “My goal was to serve the actors, serve the story, serve the crew,” he said. “Everybody really knocked it out of the park. Everybody showed up really prepared and ready to go and excited to be there. It was fun, and we had a good time.”
The emotionally complex show can sometimes get a little heavy. When they need to lighten the moment, they both agree that the best way to do it is with a little sugar.
“Candy,” Milo said. “We do, we get candy. When we need it,” Mandy said in agreeance. “It’s like, Milo and I will look at each other and just go, snack time?’”
Even though the scenes can get emotional. the cast is good about keeping a good balance.
“There’s the work, and then there’s time with your friends, and your time with the crew,” Milo said. “You’re there to do a job and when action is called you’re able to snap into it and when cut is called, you’re able to get back into whatever else you’re doing.”
