THE VENERABLE SHIEIKH EDEBALI ( Imaduddin Mustafa bin Ibrahim bin inac al kilsehri. 1206 – 1326 ).
An Ottoman Sunni Muslim Sheikh of the AHI brotherhood , who helped shape and develop the policies of the growing OTTOMAN EMPIRE .
He became the first QADI of the OTTOMAN EMPIRE , and was the father of RABIA BALA HATUN wife of OSMAN GHAZI .
The sheikh often conversed with ERTUGRAL , the father of OSMAN, about Islam and the state of affairs in ANATOLIA.
OSMAN’s visit to his DERGAH and the famous dream , leading to his marriage with Bala Hatun is documented in all sources , what is even more important is that as a result of this marriage AHYAN SHEIKHS came under OTTOMAN control. This had a major impact on the establishment of the Ottomon Beylik .
Before bidding farewell to him, it is worth mentioning that in history his role in the foundation of the empire did not end here .
ERTUGRAL’s advice to OSMAN., preserved on marble in SOGUT.
“ Offend me but do not offend Sheikh Edebali ,
He is an unwavering light , his weights show full measure .
Oppose me but do not oppose Sheikh Edebali,
If you rebel against me I will be upset and hurt ,
If you oppose him I will not look on you .
My eyes will be blind to your presence .
I speak not on behalf of Sheikh Edebali , but for your own good .”
Mr. Bozdag integrated spirituality into the drama , through the Sheikh .
On a lighter note he used him to broker the marriage between Osman and Malhun , and added melodrama to the story by making a sacrificial victim out of Bala Hatun for the great cause . “ I can almost hear Osman saying, “ I didn’t choose Malhun , ask your father”. He ordered me , I had to obey him 😂♥️😂
