Surface Geology vs Radiation

I recently acquired a gamma ray scintillometer that has a really neat
mapping function. So as an exploration geologist, it has really added
new depth to enjoying and understanding the local geology when I am out
and about on hikes. In the particular image above, you can see that this
instrument measured more CPS in Tertiary tuffaceous sandstones than in
Precambrian basement rocks. This could have a number of applications for
trying to map complex surface geologic terranes, or perhaps trying to
tie surface outcrop data to subsurface logs.
