Song ‘Alone Together’ Celebrates Inclusion For People With Disabilities During Social Distancing

Rebecca Black may be best known for her viral hit “Friday,” but she’s working on a new project for a great cause. Rebecca has partnered with the team at Best Buddies International for a new music video celebrating inclusion while recognizing this time of physical distancing. The song is called “Alone Together.”

Best Buddies International is a nonprofit that works to create opportunities of inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental issues. Rebecca has been working with the organization for a few years. Along with four music-loving Best Buddies ambassadors, they penned the emotional tune via video chat.

“Everybody just put everything they had into it to make it the best that it could be. It was never a question of can this work, it was we are going to make this happen,” Rebecca said of the unique songwriting experience.

Bret Fleming was one of those ambassadors. He lives with a rare genetic disorder called Williams Syndrome. “We had to put together these signs and add certain parts of the words in the song. It really turned out, the video itself turned out to be quite amazing,” Bret said. “It made me feel, it made us all feel really good about the situation. Those signs really made a difference.”

Rebecca was able to get some celebrities and influencers to make an appearance in the video. They include Cindy Crawford, Billie Eilish, and Kevin McHale.

“One-hundred percent of the proceeds of this song go straight to Best Buddies. That was something really important to all of us. To make it something that no matter how people are viewing it that they could not only raise awareness to the message of Best Buddies but also giving them some help,” Rebecca said. “Everyone’s in a bit of a pinch and this is an organization that means so much to me.”

“Alone Together” is available on all music streaming platforms.
