Seljuk Bey was an Oghuz Turkic warlord, and the grandfather of Tugrul Bey and Cagri Bey.

He had great power and influence among the people of his tribe who lived within the territory of the Oghuz Yabgu State.

After accepting Islam, Seljuk Bey refused to pay tribute (Annual Tax) to Oghuz Yabgu State saying, “Muslims will not pay tribute to the unbelievers.”

Imam Al-Bayhaqi gives him the title of “al-Malik al-Ghazi Seljuk (meaning “Ruler and Religious Fighter Seljuk”).

Seljuk Bey had five sons: Arslan Yabgu, Mikail Bey, Musa Yabgu, Yusuf Bey and Yunus Bey.
