Sayyid Muḥammad ‘Abdullāh Ḥasan was a scholar, poet, warrior, and the ruler of the Dervish State in Somalia.

He was renowned for his 21-year war against British colonizers in the northern part of the country. Additionally, he led campaigns against the Christian Abyssinians, who planned to expand into Somalia, and the Italians, who colonized southern Somalia. Notably, he remained undefeated in battle. When the British were unable to counter his guerrilla warfare tactics, they resorted to ordering airstrikes on his fortress in the city of Taleḥ, Somalia, making it the first place in Africa to be attacked by an airstrike. The Shaykh passed away from malaria in 1921 and is celebrated as a hero in Somalia and the Muslim world.
