On April 7, 2019, the 54th Academy of Country Music Awards will air. For the 16th time, country music queen Reba McEntire will be hosting the show.
This morning, February 20, 2019, Reba went on “CBS This Morning” to reveal the nominees for this year’s biggest ACM Awards.
While the nominations are very exciting, Reba was a bit dismayed by the lack of female nominees in the “Entertainer of the Year” award category. Last year, the nominees for this award were also all male. And in each of the three years before that, there was just one female nominee in the category.
Reba said, “It doesn’t make me very happy because we’ve got some very talented women out there who are working their butts off.”
It only takes a quick glance at the “Female Artist of the Year” category to see how many incredible women there are in country music, including Carrie Underwood, Kacey Musgraves, and Miranda Lambert.
