‘Those belongings are gonna turn into trash’: Server says she throws away customers’ forgotten personal items if they don’t tip

A server sparked a viral TikTok debate about whether tipping is mandatory after stating she gets “revenge” against certain customers by tossing away any personal effects they may leave behind.

Sheena Mean (@sheenamean_is_late) wraps a dessert pie in the clip as she talks into the camera and says that this form of payback is reserved for diners who’ve received top-tier service and still decide to not leave a tip.

@sheenamean_is_late I might ruffle some feathers with this one but I stand on what I said. Tip your server and stay woke 😘 #server #serverlife #serverproblems #serviceindustry #customerservice #waitress #servertiktok #isaidwhatisaid #tipyourserver #DanceWithTurboTax #sheenamean_is_late ♬ original sound – Sheena Mean

“If you sit in my section and you get A1 service, and you don’t tip me but you leave behind some of your personal belongings, guess what? Those belongings are gonna turn into trash so quick, like magic,” she says. She adds a trash bin text emoji to the end of the video’s text overlay.

In a caption for the video, Sheena writes, “I might ruffle some feathers with this one but I stand on what I said. Tip your server and stay woke.”

The server’s remarks appear to have sparked a debate in the video’s comments section. Some people referenced other servers’ TikTok videos about not receiving gratuities and stated that they were tired of hearing individuals complain about their jobs.

Others remarked that if someone is going to get upset over not receiving tips, then they should look for a job with a pay structure that isn’t dependent on whether or not a customer gives them a gratuity to ensure that they make a living wage.

“This tipping rage is getting crazy,” one user said. Another wrote, “Here’s an idea get a job where you don’t rely on tips! Stop making people feel forced to tip. All you do is make drinks and bring food that’s all.” A third commenter chimed in, “Tipping is getting out of control.”

Sheena replied to the gratuity critics, stating, “Tipping servers has always been a thing, as well as anyone else that provides a service for you. You’re just mad about it lol.”

Other servers shared their own stories about how they get back at rude customers who left behind their personal belongings.

“I worked at a restaurant at 17 and this lady said a slur, she left her huge key ring behind and I threw it away. her car got towed too [because] no fob,” they shared.

One user said, “I had a table try to dine and dash and left their phone behind they came back and had to pay I was gonna sell that phone.”

User @hayleenickel wrote, “Last table I served at [Texas Roadhouse] ran up a huge tab and left without paying, they left their designer shades, so I pawned them for the tip I deserved.”

It wasn’t just servers who got revenge against non-tipping patrons, however. A delivery driver wrote in the comments, “Delivered a pizza to a house where the car lights were still on. Car was cold. No tip, so I said nothing.”

There were also a number of commenters who said they would never feel comfortable with the idea of not tipping their server. Some said if customers were so against the idea of tipping then they should actively seek out restaurants that don’t have a gratuity option for their servers or automatically include gratuity as part of the bill.

“I couldn’t imagine the embarrassment of not tipping especially if the service was on point,” one TikToker wrote. Another commented, “I waitressed in my small town 20 years ago and so many people felt it was fine not to tip, it was unbelievable.”

Understanding the History of Conversation Heart Candies

Source: Getty Images

Chris Barilla - Author

When one thinks of Valentine’s Day, it evokes images of roses, chocolates, shiny gifts, and tiny heart-shaped conversation candies. Indeed, the sugary confections emblazoned with messages of love and friendship have become as ubiquitously associated with the holiday as the colors red and pink. So, how exactly did they come to be? This Valentine’s Day, let’s take a deep dive into the history of conversation heart candies.

Article continues below advertisement

The history of conversation heart candies seems to extend back nearly two centuries.

It’s always remarkable when a product becomes such a hit that its basic recipe goes unchanged for nearly two centuries, and conversation heart candies are the perfect example of that. According to the book Sweet Tooth: The Bittersweet History of Candy, the candy company NECCO, which stands for New England Confectionery Company, was the entity behind the creation of conversation heart candies, often referred to as sweethearts.

In 1847, Boston pharmacist Oliver Chase was looking to get into the lozenge business. Realizing how difficult it was to produce them by hand at the time, he invented a machine that rolled and pressed dough into lozenges for him, thus automating the process. After a short while, Oliver decided that the pharmaceutical route was not for him and decided to found NECCO and produce the sweet wafers that his machine invention pumped out.

Daniel Chase, the brother of NECCO’s founder, decided that it would be a clever idea to print messages onto the company’s wafer candies. In the early days, each message was written on each piece of candy by hand. Oddly enough, the messages on the hand-written candies were often much longer than what appears on conversation heart candies today. Over time, however, David invented a method of utilizing a die-cut press and vegetable dyes to print the candies at scale.

By the early 1900s, NECCO decided to start cutting the wafer candies into the shape of hearts. The messages were shortened, production was ramped up, and they became a staple of Valentine’s Day celebrations. Over the 160-plus years that conversation candies have been made, the recipe has changed very little.

How to Catch Shiny Beasts in ‘Hogwarts Legacy’

But one of the more time-consuming activities is tracking down Shiny Beasts. Figuring out how to catch Shiny Beasts in Hogwarts Legacy isn’t easy – and you’ll need to dedicate a good chunk of your time to finding them.

Here’s what you need to know about finding Shiny Beasts in Hogwarts Legacy and how to catch them.

How to catch Shiny Beasts in ‘Hogwarts Legacy’.

Much like the Pokémon series, catching Shiny Beasts in Hogwarts Legacy is entirely random. That means you could spend hours hunting down your favorite creatures without setting eyes on a Shiny variant. Thankfully, many of the same tried-and-true Shiny hunting tactics from Pokémon also apply to Hogwarts Legacy. Here are a few tips to help you catch Shiny Beasts in Hogwarts Legacy.

  • Before attempting to catch any Shiny Beasts, you’ll first need to unlock the Vivarium. This is accomplished by following the main storyline, so keep slogging through the quests until you’ve unlocked the Room of Requirement and (eventually) the Vivarium by completing “The Elf, the Nab-Sack, and the Loom” quest.

Article continues below advertisement

  • Taming a Shiny Beast follows the same process as taming a standard Beast. However, the most challenging part of taming a Shiny Beast is simply finding them in the wild. These creatures sport a unique color and pattern compared to their non-Shiny siblings, but there’s nothing you can do to make them spawn more frequently than normal.

Article continues below advertisement

  • As of now, the best way to find Shiny Beasts is to locate a Den out in the wild. Once there, capture every Beast in sight – even if it’s not a Shiny Beast. Then, you’ll need to find a way to quickly get the area to reload and respawn its Beasts. An easy way to do this is by manipulating the day/night cycle, manually saving your game, then reloading your new save.
  • When your game loads, the area should once again be populated with a new batch of Beasts. There’s no guarantee that any of them will be Shiny, but this is a quick and easy way to encounter dozens of Beasts in a short amount of time. And since every Beast has a small chance of being a Shiny Beast, the best way to find one is to encounter Beasts as fast as humanly (or wizardly) possible.

She added: “2023 has already brought many exciting opportunities my way, including an emerging new business, new home, and new adventures, so for now, I’ll be moving my attention away from the show to allow myself the space to focus on new challenges.”

Nina joined RHODubai with her husband, Munaf Ali, and their children — Sophia, Nour, and Ayan. The Austin, Texas, native used her time on the show to discuss her family, moving to another country for love, and her online bakery business, Fruit Cake. Although she stated on social media that she’s making space for new adventures, some fans wondered if the RHODubai Season 1 reunion had anything to do with her departure.

Lesa Milan accused Nina Ali of having an unsuccessful business at the ‘RHODubai’ reunion.

During the show’s inaugural reunion in September 2022, Nina was stuck in the crossfire of Lesa’s feud with Caroline Stanbury. As Lesa and Caroline argued, Lesa claimed she was the only one among her cast members with a “viable and functioning, running business.” Nina caught Lesa’s shade and confronted her about it on the reunion stage.

“So my business isn’t running?” Nina asked Lesa before reminding the group her fruitcake business is open for customers. They continued arguing about Nina and Caroline Stanbury’s budding friendship. However, despite their tiff at the reunion, Nina seemingly doesn’t wish Lesa ill will.

“I wish my fellow Housewives all the best moving forward,” she said of Lesa, Caroline S., Caroline B., Sara, and Chanel. “I’ll be cheering you on!”

‘This is a health hazard and shouldn’t be served in a restaurant’: McDonald’s customer calls store after she says she received raw patties in burgers

A McDonald’s customer called the store she went to after she allegedly received raw burger patties and very salty fries.

TikTok user @landryvice was filmed while on a phone call with McDonald’s, complaining about her order.

“I got three McDoubles and all three of them, the burgers, are, like, literally raw,” the content creator told the McDonald’s worker over the phone. Then, the camera zoomed in on the half-eaten burger, revealing the meat. “Like, pink and mushy. My fries are, like, you guys completely took the container of salt and just, like, emptied it on it,” she continued.

On speakerphone, the McDonald’s worker’s solution was for the customer to return to the location to remake the food, leaving the TikToker shocked and confused.

@landryvice my horror story #mcdonalds @mcdonalds what is this!!! #fypシ #fypシ゚viral #fyp #DanceWithTurboTax #mcdonaldsnightmare #raw #wweraw #salty #saltyfries ♬ original sound – lv

The Daily Dot reached out to @landryvice via TikTok comment and McDonald’s regarding the video. The video racked up over 292,000 views as of Monday, with many viewers rallying behind the McDonald’s employee.

“How you going to get mad, what’s he supposed to do over the phone?” one viewer asked.

“Burgers can have pink in them, they’re beef, it’s just like a steak and idk what you expected him to do for you over the phone,” another echoed.

“Ummm were they supposed to teleport you new food? …. Yeah you have to go there,” a third wrote.

However, there were others who jumped to @landryvice’s defense.

“No how are y’all on the McDonald’s worker side? Because that is under cooked meet and she could sue,” one user said.

“Guys, she expected him to at least acknowledge & apologize like acted like her whole meal wasn’t disgusting. could neverrrr as a manager,” a second noted.

“All these people like what did you want them to do?! Customer service gets your # and email and gives you money for new meals. So you don’t drive back,” a third commented.

Others shared their experiences with allegedly receiving raw meat from McDonald’s.

“This happened to me once. It was so bloody it was running all over the wrapper when I opened it I was in the parking lot and brought it back,” one person shared.

“Bro all 3 of our nugget orders were completely raw yesterday I was so mad,” a second stated.

“I went to a McDonald’s an hour away from where I live and my 2 burgers were raw, red. Corporate sent me a coupon for 1 burger good at the location,” a third wrote.

Later that same day, @landryvice posted an update regarding the McDonald’s order. She first clarified that she didn’t “eat half of the burger,” rather she took one bite and passed it around to her friends for them to taste it so she had the reassurance that it wasn’t just her.

@landryvice burger #mcdonalds #mcdonaldsnightmare #fyp #fypシ #fypシ゚viral #raw #salty ♬ original sound – lv

She showed a photo of the burger and fries and zoomed in, describing the texture as “ground beef” you buy at the store, comparing it to simply “opening up a package of it and biting into it.” Then, she pointed to an unknown white piece she claimed had a “fabric consistency” when she removed it.

The creator addressed the comments chastising her for calling to complain when there’s nothing the worker “could’ve done” over the phone.

“It’s the fact that this is a health hazard and shouldn’t be served in a restaurant,” she said.

‘Globalists want US DEAD’: Conspiracy theorists believe Ohio trainwreck was part of a plot against the nation’s food supply

Earlier this month, a train carrying toxic chemicals derailed in East Palestine, Ohio. The crash and explosion released dangerous toxins that led officials to evacuate the area and take other precautions in case it contaminated the water supply. Chemicals from the crash spilled into the Ohio River.

The crash is being described as a wake-up call about the risks posed by trains carrying deadly freight and the lack of meaningful government oversight and regulation.

To conspiracy theorists, that’s all part of the plot. They’re convinced that the crash was planned to kill people, either by exposing them to toxins or reducing the nation’s supply of essentials, such as food or fuel. Many also believe that the Chinese spy balloon the government recently shot down was intended to distract people from the accident.

Conspiratorial Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) seems to share this thinking. On Sunday, Greene claimed that East Palestine is experiencing “an ecological disaster bc authorities blew up the train derailment cars carrying hazardous chemicals and press are being arrested for trying to tell the story. Oh but UFO’s! What is going on?”

Greene was referring to a NewsNation reporter who was arrested during a press conference. The right-wing outlet denies their reporter did anything wrong. Newsweek reports that there were numerous reporters at the press conference who were not arrested, so the notion that the arrest was part of a coverup is patently false.

Officials performed what they called a controlled burn to dispense the chemicals, including the highly flammable vinyl chloride, which reportedly was in danger of exploding. Footage shows a huge ball of fire spewing thick black smoke into the atmosphere.

Conspiracy theories about the crash are spreading like wildfire online.

“Was this intentional?” one person wondered. “…Pets and wildlife dying. Media pretty much silent. Is this one event from which the ‘Chinese balloon’ story is trying to distract[?]”

Media outlets all over the world have covered the trainwreck.

A Twitter user blamed Democrats for failing to effectively communicate about it, allowing Republicans to create “a narrative that invites conspiracy theory and shifts blame from Norfolk Southern to some nebulous state entity.” Norfolk Southern owned the train.

Telegram is rife with baseless allegations that the train was derailed to harm the nation’s food supply.

“Is there a chicken or beef manufacturing plant within 100 miles? That would give them another reason to kill off more food,” wrote one. Several specifically referenced chickens and eggs.

“Let me guess…. A train carrying eggs,” wrote another.

There are no credible reports that the train was transporting eggs.

Far-right conspiracy theorists are convinced the crash was part of a nefarious plot to kill people.

“Your ‘government’ is killing you,” far-right conspiracy theorist Stew Peters claimed.

Another Telegram user commented, “Globalism has been at war with American citizens for years. We are the targets. The globalists want US DEAD.”

Although there’s no reason to believe that the crash was intentional, there is some cause to blame the government and the rail industry.

A former freight engineer for Norfolk Southern told the Guardian that the nation’s railway system suffers from ineffective oversight and essentially monitors itself.

“The Palestine wreck is the tip of the iceberg and a red flag,” Ron Kaminkow, the secretary for Railroad Workers United, a non-profit labor group that coordinates with the rail unions, reportedly said.

“If something is not done, then it’s going to get worse, and the next derailment could be cataclysmic.”

Cardi B Ran (As Well As She Could In Heels) To Make It To Rihanna’s Super Bowl Halftime Show In A Hilarious Video

The Super Bowl is the biggest sporting event of the year in the United States. Pair that with the fact that Rihanna performed the halftime show this year, and it must have been a real challenge to actually get to the stadium for those lucky/rich enough to have tickets. It seems like that was the case for Cardi B and Offset, as the two ended up running in an effort to not miss Rihanna’s performance.

In a video shared on Cardi’s Instagram Story last night (February 12), Cardi and Offset are seen running to get into the stadium. It wasn’t a particularly fast run, though, as Cardi was wearing high heels that made speedy travel a challenge.

It appears their effort paid off, though, as it was apparently a really close call for them: In another Instagram Story video, Cardi films the start of the performance and exclaims, “We just made it on time.” She also offered some general excitement and cheering in other clips.

That wasn’t Cardi and Offset’s only Super Bowl presence this year. The pair just launched their own meal at McDonald’s and had a commercial for it during the game. The menu item is named after them and includes a cheeseburger, Quarter Pounder with cheese, barbecue sauce, large fries, an apple pie, a large Hi-C, and a large Coke.

Honestly, The Ben Affleck Dunkin Outtakes Are Even Better Than The Super Bowl Commercial

Due in large part to the thing where it’s hard to hide something like Hollywood movie star Ben Affleck randomly working a Dunkin’ drive-thru in Medford, Massachusetts, The Accountant star’s Super Bowl spot for his beloved coffee and donut chain wasn’t a total surprise. (It also didn’t help that Jennifer Lopez was on hand, which really gave away the game.)

However, the gag was a surprise to the unsuspecting Dunkin’ customers who pulled around to the window to see the on-again/off-again Batman handling their order. While the Super Bowl spot captured some of that fun, commercial time during the big game is crazy expensive, so a lot of the interactions were left on the cutting room floor. Until now.

Following the spot, Dunkin’ uploaded outtakes from Affleck’s time behind the register, and it’s even better than the actual commercial. The actor clearly had a ball messing with customers and, unlike on a Kevin Smith movie, he was given free rein to improv as he pretended to be out of both coffee and donuts or frantically repeated orders back to customers.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the whole concept was Affleck’s idea because, of course, the man is constantly looking for ways to get inside a Dunkin’ for hours on end. Affleck also knew how the locals would react to the hidden camera idea.

Some used invective-flecked outbursts to describe his “inept” service, he said.

“It’s Boston, after all, so we had some rather coarse and agitated people who were willing to voice their displeasure in a colorful way, and I’m still lobbying to include the most interesting of those in some of the edgiest social spots,” said Mr. Affleck.

As for how much money Dunkin’ lost by letting Affleck have full access to the coffee urns and crullers, well, we do not know as of this writing, but presumably millions. Maybe even billions.
