Is This Woman Wrong For Calling Her Fiance an Embarrassment?

There are way too many stories on Reddit that begin with “this is the first time my partner has acted this way,” but through info and clarification requests, we learn that things have seem to have been headed in a not-so-great direction for quite some time.

In this case, OP is engaged to a man who, until now, seems to have been pretty chill and relaxed.

I’ve been seeing my fiance for 4 years now and I came in to the relationship with 2 boys. My boys are now 12 and 9. Once a year me and the boys go to my families vacation home with the entire family and up until this year, my fiance did not attend.

But now that we are engaged and merging families, the family asked that he come too (they all get along great with him anyways).

Still, when he decided to accompany her and her children on an annual vacation with her side of the family, she felt the need to warn him ahead of time that things would not be as they were at home.

Mostly, it was that the children would not have a bedtime while on vacation. OP is their mother and feels that it’s only once a year and not a big deal.

I explained to him prior to us coming to our family retreat that during our week stay with the family, my kids do not have a bedtime. We do a lot of night activities, such as night swimming in the pool, karaoke, fires, nightly strolls through the neighborhood, etc etc. So during this week, my kids absolutely do not have a bedtime and this is how it has always been.

I made it clear that bedtime was not to be enforced like it was at home because this is vacation and time with family and I’m not making my kids miss out on the nightly activities.

I also explained that due to this, some nights they are up until easily 11-midnight. It’s once a year, it’s no big deal.

So he was fully aware and please note that this is the only time I’ve seen this side of him that I will mention below.

Things blew up on the vacation, though, when the fiancee could not or would not keep his mouth shut about the kids and their bedtime – even after OP pulled him aside more than once and told him to knock it off.

We get here the first night and you can tell he is already uncomfortable with the boys staying up past their bedtime. He was stressing out because the boys were still in the pool at 10pm and he felt they should be in bed already.

I reminded him at least twice that we were not enforcing a bedtime here and he let it go the first night.

The second night 9pm rolls around and the boys were still up and my fiance was dropping comments like “you’re lucky you’re even still awake right now, you should be in bed”. Saying it right in front of my mom, who looked mortified that he had such an attitude.

I told him to cut the f**king s*%t, in private. He tells me he thinks it’s f**ked up and that it’s going to be terrible trying to get them back on their schedule (never been an issue in the years prior).

I stood firm and told him to knock it off and let it go.

Eventually she lost it on him completely, calling him an embarrassment.

But then last night my fiance starts angry sighing every single time he looks at my kids still awake and I finally pulled him aside and told him he was a f**king embarrassment because he keeps saying these comments in front of my family, which leads to awkward silences and judgemental glances my way.

I warned him prior to coming here and if he had an issue that he can’t control for a week than he needs to leave because he’s ruining our trip with his passive aggressive BS surrounding a bedtime.

He told me I’m an AH for making him feel like garbage over wanting to keep the kids on a schedule because it’s “best for them”. AITA?

Did she go too far? Should he get a say since he’s going to be the stepfather?

You know Reddit is going to weigh in!

The top comment urges OP to take this incident seriously, as things will likely not improve.

‘Don’t send any of it’: WFH job gives ex-worker 48 hours to return MacBook and monitor. It won’t fit in package supplied by employer

Work from home jobs have become increasingly popular due to benefits such as increased flexibility and less time spent commuting. However, as one TikToker’s recent video shows, working from home also comes with its own set of problems.

The video was posted by Leslie (@lesssbessst) on March 9 and has since racked up over 1.5 million views. In the video, she talks about her struggle with returning a company MacBook and monitor after quitting her job.

She explains that her former employer sent her a package with a 48-hour deadline to return the equipment, but the box provided did not fit the monitor.

“I tried all these different ways to get the stupid monitor in here but the box is a square and that monitor is a rectangle,” she says in the video.

Leslie adds, “I reached out… saying ‘Hey, sent me the wrong sized box for this monitor’ and yet no one’s gotten back to me.” She then ends the video by jokingly threatening to “throw hands” if she gets in trouble for not returning the equipment on time.

The video quickly became viral, with many viewers going to the comment section to offer their advice on how to ship the monitor back to the company.

“Look up square box into rectangle,” one commenter said.

“Nothing they can do. Zilch. You do owe it back, but if you quit, they can’t hold your check hostage or anything. Send it when they send the right box,” a second commenter remarked.

“They didn’t say in working condition,” a third jokingly said.

Many other commenters suggested Leslie should put the monitor diagonally into the box, with one saying, “Diagonal?” which triggered a response from Leslie. On March 13, she posted a follow-up TikTok, explaining that she’s already tried all of the recommendations and proceeded to demonstrate that the monitor simply doesn’t fit into the box.

“Why would I break down the box and go out of my way to send this back to them when they made me miserable to begin with?” Leslie questioned in the video. “I literally quit this job for a reason, and I’m not going to go out of my way to make sure this freakin’ box and monitor go together.”

Despite the frustration, Leslie did confirm that her ex-employer would be sending her a new box. “I’m not going to talk about this anymore,” she concluded.

The Daily Dot reached out to Leslie for comment via email.

‘They do this frequently’: Customer says Popeyes workers always close store 7 hours early

A local Popeyes is getting roasted on TikTok for constantly being closed up to 7 hours before its listed closing time. Surprise, surprise, it’s located in Florida.

At the beginning of the viral video, a man wanting to go into Popeyes is seemingly stopped at the door by an employee explaining that they were closed. Content creator @marthreenez_, who recorded the interaction from afar, said that when he pulled up to this local Popeyes they “were just not letting people in the door.”

Wondering why the location was closed, and people weren’t being allowed inside, @marthreenez_ confirmed the location’s hours on Yelp. According to the review site, the Popeyes was meant to be open for both dine-in and drive-through service from 10:30am to 11pm.

Yet, they were closed at 4pm—a whole 7 hours early.

The location’s Yelp reviews indicated that this was an ongoing issue. One reviewer said the fast food joint was always closed. “What a waste of a trip,” the person added. And despite having a total of 68 reviews, the location’s rating adds up to the minimum one star.

When @marthreenez_ finally pulls up to the window, a woman tells him that they’re closed at the moment.

@marthreenez_ decided to try ordering through the drive-thru since he clearly saw there were workers at the store. When he pulls up to the drive through there is a sign on the speaker instructing him to pull up to the window. He does and waits 5 minutes behind another car that ended up driving off without ever getting food handed to them.

“Popeyes is awful,” the TikToker said.

“They do this frequently. That’s why Popeyes is not better than Chik-fil-a,” @marthreenez_ concludes.

The video has more than 232,000 views and nearly 200 comments.

Some commenters joked that once the content creator mentioned Florida, “it was all over,” referring to the stereotype that Florida is a wild and wacky place.

Others offered their speculation for why the fast food chain may be closed. It’s likely tied to labor shortages in the industry. One person said it might be a money laundering scheme, while another questioned whether workers were striking in @marthreenez_’s city.

A Floridian chimed in, saying that it’s not just Popeyes that closes early. “Random chains or mom/pop are closed throughout the day.”

“Whataburger lowkey does the same thing,” @marthreenez_ replied in agreement.

The Daily Dot reached out to @marthreenez_ via Instagram DM. This was his response:

“They’ve just been closing at random times for years,” he said. “… Sometimes they ignore you until you go away lol you’re lucky if they let you know they’re closed. Sometimes you waste your time waiting for 20 minutes just to find out they don’t want to work.”

Drake Brought Out 21 Savage, GloRilla, Lil Uzi Vert, And Lil Wayne During His Dreamville Festival Set

Drake and J. Cole may have been billed as co-headliners of Dreamville Festival Sunday night but Drake’s portion of the set turned into a mini-festival of its own as he brought out a plethora of special guests to round out the show. Amid a hit-strewn set that saw Drake bring out fan favorites spanning all the way back to his debut album, the Canadian superstar still found space to surprise fans with some familiar faces.

First, he introduced the crowd to breakout Memphis star GloRilla, who performed her viral hit “FNF (Let’s Go).” Then, without warning, Lil Uzi Vert appeared, sporting a relatively low-key look (for Lil Uzi Vert), prompting performances of “XO Tour Llif3” and “Just Wanna Rock.” As Drake performed his 2011 party cut “The Motto,” his Young Money boss Lil Wayne popped out to contribute not just his verse from the song but also performances of “Uproar” and “A Milli.”

Then, before wrapping things up, Drake invited his Her Loss collaborator 21 Savage to the stage to perform a pair of their joint tracks, “Knife Talk” and “Rich Flex.”

As his set came to a close, Drake was joined by J. Cole, and the pair spent the last few minutes of the festival showing their appreciation for each other (again) before J. Cole closed things out with his fan-favorite hit “No Role Modelz.”

‘Looks like that scene from The Bear’: DoorDash’s Biggie Bag promotion allegedly overruns Wendy’s with mobile orders

A TikTok video showing the chaos at a Wendy’s location has gone viral, with users expressing outrage over the high-stress working conditions in the fast-food industry.

The video, posted by TikToker @vinnnadee this weekend, shows a counter covered in mobile order receipts, with the employee commenting on the high number of orders for Wendy’s compared to other fast-food chains. She says, “Look at all these f*cking mobile orders. Why?”

The worker then shows a long piece of unattended mobile orders coming out of the machine and reaching all the way to the floor as she says, “This sh*t is ridiculous. This sh*t still coming out, bro, why?”

This video appears to show the lead-up to another viral video that shows a mass of completed orders that have yet to be picked up. Viewers argued about the cause of the backlog and it appears that the large pile-up was due to a Biggie Bag promotion offered by the chain and DoorDash.

The video has accumulated more than 7.1 million views with many going to the comment section to express their outrage.

“there needs to be a queue system. ain’t no reason why 100 orders should be able to come in at the same time for pickup in 15 minutes,” one commenter said.

“I would’ve took a long bathroom break,” a second added.

“Overworked and underpaid,” a third remarked.

Another TikTok user commented on the situation, alleging that the DoorDash app also couldn’t handle the high volume of orders. They said, “Doordash app crashed with the Wendy’s $30 off promotion.”

One commenter joked about the situation, saying: “Sorry. But also can you put extra sweet and sour in my bag plz.”

19 TV Side Characters Who Stole The Spotlight

“The original central character was Michaela, but over time, Ben — and by extension, his wife and kids — became the central character.

The writers didn’t think it through. Michaela’s love interest had to cheat on his wife, who was Michaela’s ex-best friend, to show persistent love to her. Mick’s own side distraction in the show, Zeke, was a fan favorite because he’s cute, and like many side characters, was too perfectly good. Then, it’s suddenly revealed that Ben’s son is the Holy Grail, and the rest of the family are good actors.

The show was doomed from the start.”

‘They last so much longer’: Grocery store shopper shares freshness hack for buying strawberries, blueberries

Strawberries and blueberries are regularly touted as consensus health foods. But when a woman shared her hack for determining fresh strawberries and blueberries at a grocery store, every chimed in with opinions for making the fruits last.

TikTok user Meredith Alston (@naptown_thrifts) posts a variety of content for her 34,000 followers, from skincare routines to clothing pointers. This time, she revealed a hack for buying fresh strawberries and blueberries at the grocery store. Alston provided some context, stating that whenever her husband buys berries, “they last so much longer” and “taste so much better” than the ones she purchases. The secret? “He flips them over” and “buys whichever ones don’t stick to the bottom of the carton.”

@naptown_thrifts I just buy the ones that dont look moldy and gross but apparently, he has a whole system!! #sustainableshopping #sustainableliving #reducefoodwasteathome #shopsmartshopsustainable ♬ Lucky Girl – Carlina

The Daily Dot reached out to Alston via email, TikTok comment, and direct message. The video amassed 1.4 million views this weekend, with viewers stating how already knew this trick.

“Been doing this for years. I’ll stand and check them all till I get the right one,” one viewer wrote.

“I always do this, especially with tomatoes,” a second agreed.

“lmfao yup this is the trick!!! I be analyzing each box of berries like a scientist,” a third concurred.

Some revealed tactics on how they discover fresh berries.

“Anything moldy, overripe, or smashed gets put back. You can also smell them. They should smell slightly sweet, no off smells or sickly sweet odors,” one user said.

‘I eat one of them out of the pack and if it tastes good I keep them lol,” a second commented.

“Grab the ones in the back. More than likely those are the ones that were recently pulled out,” a third recommended.

Others shared different methods of keeping berries fresh.

“great tip! my best tip is soak them in water with grapefruit seed extract powder, they’ll last for weeks!” one person shared.

“Wash them in vinegar & water at home, dry and store airtight they last a long time,” a second advised.

“Store them in mason jars once they’re cleaned and stems removed. Literally will last ages,” a third stated.

So, how can you tell if you’ve chosen a bad batch of fruit? The answer is simple: weight, smell, color, and firmness are the biggest indicators of rotten fruit. The fruit becomes heavier, soft, and squishy as they ripen. In addition, their colors are bright with a juicy and sweet scent, per HueTrition.

And remember: One bad fruit contaminates the entire batch.

Nick Fury, Sans Eye Patch, Returns For ‘One Last Fight’ In Disney+’s ‘Secret Invasion’ Trailer

The “one last job” trope his hit Marvel Studios with Disney+’s Secret Invasion trailer in the form of “one last fight” for Nick Fury. In the process, not only is Sam Jackson’s character returning to the MCU but also his Skrull friend, Talos (Ben Mendelsohn). As well, this series brings both Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman into the fold, which I believe means that all working actors other than Gerard Butler have now entered either the MCU or the DCEU DCU at some point. That’s an exaggeration, but we do live in unusual Hollywood times.

Make no mistake, though, both of these comic-book-movie universes sit at a crossroad of sorts. The DCU is now undergoing a massive transformation under incoming chief James Gunn with a giant Shazam! blunder to bury, and the MCU just had its first middling box-office performance with the latest Ant-Man movie. Can Secret Invasion get things back on track? Whatever is going on with the Skrulls could do the trick.

It’s worth remembering that Captain Marvel actually changed up the comic book lore and made Skrulls the good guys. In the above trailer, however, it seems that the pendulum is swinging backward, and we’re witnessing a world where these shapeshifters have infiltrated Earth for quite some time, and they might be up to no good. Disney is officially calling this a “crossover event series,” and it sure looks like we’re gonna get some Rhodey in the mix. Hopefully, we’ll see him for longer than we did in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but it’s always nice to see Maria Hill propping up the joint.

One question I do have and which remains unanswered: will this crossover bring us more Goose? I’m holding out hope, since we’re seeing an eye-patch-less Fury and getting a better look at what that kitty/flerkin did to make him trust no one. Meow.

Secret Invasion premieres on June 21.
