‘I’m WARNING y’all now’: ‘Forever chemicals’ in Johnson & Johnson Band-Aids found to cause cancer through open wounds

The well-known Johnson and Johnson brand, Band-Aid, as well as other bandage brands were recently found to contain chemicals linked to cancer if exposed through direct contact with open wounds. Creators online are freaking out.

The Daily Mail reported this week that the chemical fluorine was found “in over two dozen different bandages that can be found in millions of medicine cabinets across the country.”

Fluorine is a type of chemical called a PFAS. PFAS are chemicals that can be used to make adhesives and “resist grease, oil, water, and heat.”

“Investigators believe they (PFAS) are products of the normal manufacturing process,” the Daily Mail states.

“Fluorine … can lead to skin burns and eye damage, but it is most dangerous when inhaled.”

Dr. Linda Birnbaum, former head of the National Toxicology Program, told the Daily Mail: “Once in the bloodstream, PFAS can lodge themselves within healthy tissue where it can begin to damage the immune system, the liver, the kidneys, and other organs.”

The National Cancer Institute states, “There has been concern over possible health effects from exposures to PFAS, including elevated risks of cancers.”

Dr. Birnbaum and other experts conducted a study to look for “PFAS chemicals in the absorbent pads and adhesive flaps of bandages sold at major retailers, including CVS, Walmart, Rite Aid, Target, and Amazon.”

Their studies found that, “The bandages that contain high levels of fluorine above 100 parts per million include brands Band-Aid, Care Science, Curad, CVS Health, Equate, First Honey, Rite Aid brand, Solimo (Amazon brand), and Up & Up, Target’s brand.”

Dr. Birnbaum expressed her concerns about PFAS being present in these bandages, too. “It’s obvious from the data that PFAS are not needed for wound care, so it’s important that the industry remove their presence to protect the public from PFAS and opt instead for PFAS-free materials,” Dr. Birnbaum said. “Because bandages are placed upon open wounds, it’s troubling to learn that they may be also exposing children and adults to PFAS.”

“PFAS substances contain bonds between carbon and fluorine atoms, creating one very resilient chemical that can remain in the environment for years or even decades,” the Daily Mail added.

The Guardian, People, and Time have likewise reported about these “forever chemicals” found in Band-Aids.

Per the Guardian: “The findings are a ‘wake-up call’ for companies that have the chemicals in their products, said Linda Birnbaum, a former senior Environmental Protection Agency official who analyzed the findings of bandage testing commissioned by the Mamavation blog.”

Over on social media, creators are posting PSAs left and right, up and down.

TikTok creator @sugarcherry88 posted a video against Johnson and Johnson’s “OurTone” Band-Aid line.

In the 15-second clip, @sugarcherry88 address the new OurTone Band-Aids and writes an on-screen caption that says, “Y’all better not be using them, specially not on no open wound.”

“Idk ’bout y’all, but I don’t [expletive] trust it,” she added.

“My people don’t like to LISTEN,” she adds, “I’m WARNING y’all now … Something is WRONG with those bandaids.”

Jason Kelce And Lane Johnson Showed Up To Help Rey Mysterio And Andrade Pick Up A Win At WrestleMania 40

WWE

Jason Kelce may be retired, but he’s still a fan of picking up wins at Lincoln Financial Field. During Night 1 of WrestleMania 40 on Saturday, the legendary Philadelphia Eagles center and one of his longtime teammates along the offensive line, Lane Johnson, threw on luchador masks and helped Rey Mysterio and Andrade pick up a win over Dominik Mysterio and Santos Escobar.

Late in the match, things started to descend into chaos outside of the ring. With the referee distracted, two absolute units in Eagles-style masks grabbed Dominik, threw him into the ring post, and slid him back into the ring. It set up the end of the match, and in the ensuing celebrations, the pair of All-Pro offensive linemen removed their masks and received the monster pop you might expect.

It was reported earlier this week that WWE reached out to Kelce about appearing at the event in some capacity, and while Johnson wasn’t rumored to make an appearance, he did team up with Seth Rollins and go through a workout at the Eagles facility in the lead-up to WrestleMania 40.

Earlier this offseason, Kelce, a six-time first-team All-Pro selection, retired after spending his entire, 13-year NFL career as a member of the Eagles.

Woman Flies Home As A Surprise For Mom’s Birthday, But Her Father’s Childish Behavior Turns Mom’s Special Night Into A Shouting Match

Source: Reddit/AITA/Pexels

Some family members will unfortunately never see eye to eye, it’s just a sad fact of life.

They’re like oil and water, if you have them in the same place for too long you just know there’s gonna be a problem.

Nothing is safe from their feud. Not birthdays, funerals, weddings, or any other significant life event, they jus’t can’t help themselves but fight each other!

Well that was like this user and her Dad after she flew down for her Mom’s birthday, only to end up in a shouting match with her Dad because of his rudeness to her Mother!

When her Mom sided with Dad, she went to Reddit to see if she was in the wrong. Check it out!

I (32f) live out of state and flew home for my mom’s birthday to surprise her.

She was away on a holiday with a friend and was arriving home on her birthday so I arranged to take a day off. I came home a day early to organize cooking dinner and her cake.

Dad goes off to the airport and they both come home and I surprise her with the dinner cake and a present.

Dad has done nothing for her birthday, no present, nothing.

But when OP’s Mom got back home, things didn’t exactly go as planned.

When mom arrives she’s happy I am there to surprise her, and we sit down and have dinner and wine and hear about her trip away. She even has gifts for us from her holiday.

As we are still catching up and having a wine, dad stands up, turns off the dinner jazz playing through the TV and put the game on.

Anxiety runs through me and tell him this is not acceptable and to turn it off and come back to the table.

He sulks and says ‘no one cares about what I want it’s all about you’.

We continue to sit and chat before dessert (cake) and a few minutes later he leaves the table and does it again removing himself to sit at the couch and put the game on full volume.

But OP was not going to let her Dad disrespect his wife on her special day!

This angered me and I began swearing and asking him how he can treat his wife like this on her birthday.

I asked why he had done absolutely nothing for her special day and pointed out that he would never watch TV during a celebration with his extended family.

He argued back saying that picking her up from the airport (15 minutes away) was enough that that ‘no one cares about me or what I want, It’s always your way!’.

Mom is so down trodden at this point in the marriage she even began to agree with him saying ‘he did do something, he picked me up from the airport’.

AITA? Should I have compromised and accepted him watching the game during a dinner I arranged and flew home for?

Regardless of whether driving 15 minutes and back is an adequate birthday present, couldn’t he have waited to turn the TV on if his daughter flew all the way home to see them?

Reddit said while her Dad was clearly out of line, she didn’t need to turn it into such a big deal on her Mom’s birthday.

Source: Reddit/AITASource: Reddit/AITA

But this user thought that letting her Dad’s behavior side would only teach him that it is okay.

Source: Reddit/AITASource: Reddit/AITA

And this commenter said the only thing OP really gave their Mom on her birthday was a fight!

Source: Reddit/AITASource: Reddit/AITA

This person defended OP, saying her Father’s actions were inexcusable.

Source: Reddit/AITASource: Reddit/AITA

And finally, this user said both of them were in the wrong, and despite how rude the Father was being, it was his house.

Source: Reddit/AITASource: Reddit/AITA

I understand trying not to make Mom’s birthday miserable, but if he was being that ridiculous I think I would have to say something too!

If you liked that story, check out this post about a group of employees who got together and why working from home was a good financial decision.

Zach Edey And Purdue Will Play For The National Title After Defeating NC State In The Final Four

Getty Image

GLENDALE — Saturday’s Men’s Final Four doubleheader began with considerable buzz, as four fan bases filed into State Farm Stadium before tip-off between the Purdue Boilermakers and the NC State Wolfpack. For more than 30 minutes, the No. 11 seed Wolfpack were up to the challenge, making life difficult for the Boilermakers and trailing by only seven points at the under-8 timeout of the second half. However, Zach Edey and Purdue withstood that charge and eventually pulled away, picking up a 63-50 victory that brought the Boilermakers within one win of their first national championship.

The evening began in encouraging fashion for Purdue, with size and physicality leading the way. The Boilermakers opened the game on a 12-4 run and, while they made only four of their first ten shots, they secured five offensive rebounds in fewer than five minutes of action.

As usual, Edey was the centerpiece of Purdue’s early attack. In the first 11 minutes, Edey generated 10 points and five rebounds while consistently altering shots on the defensive end.

Soon after, NC State was able to string together its best stretch of the second half, just as Purdue seemed to be asserting control. The Wolfpack used a 9-2 run to cut the margin to 30-25 with 3:54 remaining before halftime, buckling down defensively in the process.

With a late three-pointer by Fletcher Loyer, Purdue took a six-point halftime lead. In some ways, it was encouraging for NC State in that the team slashed what was once at 12-point deficit. On the other hand, the Boilermakers led despite a nightmare half from Braden Smith (0-of-6 shooting with five turnovers) and a 13-point half from standout NC State guard DJ Horne.

The start of the second half was not exactly filled with fireworks. After more than six minutes of game time, the six-point margin was unchanged from halftime, with each team managing only four points. Purdue was unable to take care of the ball on offense, committing a turnover on more than 30 percent of possessions in the first 26 minutes of the game, while NC State opened the second half by missing eight of its first nine shots.

However, it was the Boilermakers that broke out first when Mason Gillis and Lance Jones buried back-to-back triples to stretch Purdue’s advantage to 45-33 with 12:40 on the clock.

Prior to the mini-eruption, Purdue failed to score for almost five minutes, and it was a missed opportunity for NC State to make a run during that time. The Wolfpack were undeterred, though, as they hung in the game and cut the margin down to seven by the under-8 timeout.

Then, the Boilermakers turned on the gas. Coming out of the stoppage, Purdue essentially put the game away with a 12-1 run. The dagger came from Smith, who had struggled mightily throughout the game, but when the sophomore guard connected on a three-pointer with 3:24 to go, it was all but over.

For NC State, it was a tremendous and unexpected run to Glendale. The Wolfpack needed a stunningly unlikely win over Virginia in the ACC Tournament semifinal, followed by an upset win over North Carolina in the final, to even reach the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Led by the majesty of DJ Burns, NC State won four games in the tournament, including three as an underdog, and didn’t look out of place on the biggest stage. Ultimately, NC State’s offense was unable to produce at the requisite level to pull the upset, scoring fewer than 0.9 points per possession and shooting just 36.8 percent from the field. Burns was held to eight points and, while Horne was fantastic, it wasn’t quite enough.

“I don’t know that I could be more prouder of a group of men that I’ve ever coached in my life,” NC State head coach Kevin Keatts said. “Adversity, you name it, situations, you name it, hard times, you name it. They found a way to win the ACC. They found a way to make it to the Final Four. We’re going to leave out of here because Purdue won the game, but we’ll walk out of here with our heads up as champions because of what we’ve been able to provide. The memories that these guys have created for NC State basketball, but more importantly for theirselves, for the rest of their lives. These guys are champions, ACC champions. So I’m proud of them.”

Purdue did not perform flawlessly by any means, including ball security issues throughout the game. The Boilermakers have yet to lose a game this season when they commit a turnover on fewer than 20 percent of possessions, but Purdue gave the ball away on 25.4 percent of trips in this matchup, making things more difficult than they needed to be. The Boilermakers also withstood a well below-average performance from Smith, but Jones and Loyer combined to shoot 7-of-14 from long distance to boost the offense.

And, of course, Edey was Edey. He finished with a “ho-hum” effort of 20 points and 12 rebounds, notching at least 20 points and 10 rebounds for the fifth straight NCAA Tournament game and the eighth consecutive game overall. The two-time National Player of the Year added four assists and two blocks and, even on a night where he perhaps did not have his A-plus fastball, the entire game revolved around him.

“The reason I came back (to school for final season) is playing games like this,” Edey said. “The reason I’m playing college basketball for four years. To finally get this game, big-time. We obviously got to keep going and keep playing. But, yeah, these are the games you can come back, these are the games you work and practice every day for.”

NC State certainly pushed Edey but, as has been the case in virtually every game this season, his dominance came to the forefront.

“I thought they did a good job tonight,” said Purdue coach Matt Painter of NC State’s defense on Edey. “I thought they battled him, pushed him out some, made it difficult on him, forced him into five turnovers.”

“He still got to his spots,” Painter continued. “If he can get to his spot for his jump hook, get it to the rim. He didn’t have a lot of dunks, easy ones tonight. He had to earn almost everything, whether he was going to his left hook or right hook, just continue to play and continue to compete. It’s really about running things and getting in that position. If he can get there, he’s had a lot of success.”

Purdue will face the winner of UConn and Alabama for the national title on Monday evening, with the Boilermakers aiming to replicate the feat of Virginia in 2019, going from a stunning first round loss to a No. 16 seed to a national title just 12 months later. For now, the Boilermakers are simply taking care of business, and Matt Painter’s team will participate in a 40-minute game for the title.

R-Truth Had His WrestleMania Moment In The Tag Team Ladder Match At WrestleMania 40

WWE

Awesome Truth claimed the Raw tag team championship and Grayson Waller and Austin Theory took the Smackdown tag team titles in the 6-pack tag team ladder match against DIY, New Catch Republic, New Day, and the Judgement Day at WrestleMania 40 Night 1.

The match started with everyone going after the Judgement Day. Damian Priest and Finn Balor were able to fight them off and tossed the New Day off a ladder. Priest threw a giant ladder onto Pete Dunne, then Tyler Bate stopped Balor from climbing, lifted him and the ladder onto his shoulders, and spun him around. On the outside, they both did backflips onto the competition.

Priest powerbombed Dunne into a ladder that Bate was climbing and both fell. R-Truth did the splits as Priest flew over the top rope then hit John Cena’s signature comeback on Balor, hit him with an Attitude Adjustment onto a ladder, then pinned Balor and counted to three — which, of course, did not matter in this match.

He then asked Johnny Gargano to hit Sweet Chin Music on Priest and set Tommaso Ciampa hit an inverted pedigree. R-Truth, Miz, Gargano, and Ciampa climbed up separate ladders to grab the belts but were knocked off by Waller and Theory, who then climbed up to claim the Smackdown tag titles.

Bate and Dunne then powerbombed Waller over the top rope and through a ladder. New Day set Ciampa on a ladder and Xavier Woods dove from the rope with an elbow drop on the ladder. Kofi Kingston climbed up the ladder and did a backwards, no look dive outside of the ring. Gargano then did a float over the top rope DDT on Dunne through table on the outside.

Ciampa slammed Bate off the top of the ladder, then JD McDonough hit R-Truth off the ladder and lifted Balor to climb.

The New Day made the save, hit Balor with a chair, and flung McDonough over the top rope and through two tables. Priest then took out the New Day and started to climb the ladder. Miz tried to fight Priest off, but was chokeslammed from the ladder. R-Truth pulled Priest off the ladder, hit the Attitude Adjustment over the top rope, climbed the ladder, and grabbed the Raw tag team titles.

7 Signs You’ve Raised A Spoiled Child

“Children do what we train them to do, what we lead them to expect,” Markham, founder of the site Aha! Parenting, said. “If we have parented permissively and have never set limits, the child will not be used to accommodating appropriate limits.”

When parents spoil their children, their intentions are often good, albeit misguided. They indulge their kids because they want to provide them with the best life possible, giving them everything Mom and/or Dad didn’t have growing up. Some parents may worry that giving their kid a firm “no” will hurt the child’s feelings or damage their confidence. Other times, parents are just too exhausted to enforce the rules — or set any in the first place.

“It’s plain easier to give in when you’re tired,” Borba said. “We hate to say ‘no’ when we’ve been gone [at work] all day.”

Rhea Ripley Pinned Becky Lynch To Retain The WWE Women’s World Championship

WWE

Rhea Ripley pinned Becky Lynch to retain the WWE Women’s World Championship in the opening match of WrestleMania 40 Night 1.

Lynch and Ripley both arrived to WrestleMania-worthy entrances, with the former following excerpts from her book and the champion being played out to a live performance of her theme song, Demon in Your Dreams by Motionless In White.

The pair traded blows to open the bout, with Lynch looking for any opportunity to gain an advantage. Early on, Lynch rolled up Ripley, but the champ rolled through and lifted her into a suplex. Ripley then climbed to the top rope and shimmed like Eddie Guerrero before Lynch arm dragged her off the top rope.

As the match continued on, Lynch began to get the upper hand as the crowd cheered Ripley on. Lynch hit a leg drop across the ropes on Ripley, then a leg drop from the top rope back inside the ring for a two-count. She then tried to attack Ripley’s hand, which had a cast on it earlier in the week. Ripley shrugged her off, lifted her into a press, threw her, then landed a knee to the face for a two-count.

Ripley went for the Riptide, but Lynch reversed it and swooped over into the Disarmher. Ripley powered out and lifted, powerbombing her three times before getting the two-count. Lynch and Ripley exchanged chest slaps before Ripley ran shoulder first into the ring post. Ripley tried for the Riptide again, but Lynch reversed into the Manhandle Slam for two. Ripley then hit Riptide for two.

Ripley went to the top rope, but Lynch knocked her feet and then suplexed here. Lynch rolled into the Disarmher, but Ripley lifted her off the ground, rolled over the top rope, and dropped her on her back. Ripley hit a frog splash for two. Back on their feet, Ripley hit the Riptide onto the turnbuckle, then hit the Riptide again for the three count.

After winning the Elimination Chamber, Lynch challenged Ripley and her more than a year reign atop the Raw Women’s division.

Woman Only Eats Spaghetti With Sauce Washed Off Her Noodles, But When Boyfriend Reveals He Hasn’t Put Sauce On Her Pasta For 3 Years She Freaks Out

Source: Reddit/AITA/Pexels

People can be very particular about their food. I know people who won’t even touch beef with a little red in it, and I know others who practically want it mooing on their plate!

And after working in a restaurant, you see just about every weird eating habit in the book, including putting a whole shaker of parmesan cheese on pasta.

But this user enjoyed her pasta in an even stranger way, and it ended up causing a huge fight between her and her boyfriend!

While she thought he had been making her spaghetti just the way she liked it, with the sauce WASHED OFF the noodles, he actually revealed he was never putting any sauce on in the first place!

Check it out!

Okay this sounds dumb, but hear me out. I have always been a picky eater especially when it comes to tomatoes.

Ever since I was a kid my dad would make my spaghetti different from the rest of the house.

I like having an essence of the sauce flavor on the noodles but not the overpowering flavor having noodles bathed in sauce creates.

So, here’s where it gets a bit odd, my dad would separate my spaghetti from the families after putting the sauce on and then would rinse the sauce off with the sink and strainer.

Record Scratch. Not even just plain buttered noodles? A hint of an essence of a wisp of a tomato taste? But according to OP, her boyfriend originally thought this was “cute”.

I love noodles like this as it is a nice subtle tomato vibe given to the mild spaghetti.

He always told me my food habits were cute.

We have been dating for almost three years now and moved in together at the beginning of the pandemic so we could be in lock down together.

Ever since we moved in together he insisted on taking charge of cooking and all cooking related tasks (dishes, grocery shopping, etc).

He assigned me the role of cleaning the bulk of the apartment. We split other tasks pretty much 50-50 too.

And all that time, OP thought he had been making her spaghetti just the way she liked it. Keyword: thought.

Everything was perfect and he always SEEMED so be making noodles the way I liked them when we had them.

This was until last week when we last had spaghetti. We ate and everything was good but afterwards he started teasing me.

“You really like your pasta with an ‘essence’ of tomato” and “How was your tomato ‘essence’ babe?” Always using finger quotes around the word essence.

OP started to think he had done something to her beloved tomato noodles. And she was right.

After a few comments I felt something was off and asked him if he had done anything differently with tonight’s noodles than he usually does and he started laughing.

When he finally stopped laughing he told me the whole truth while smirking.

He said “I didn’t do anything different than I USUALLY do. I have never been making it the way you have requested”.

It turns out he had been tricking OP’s “sensitive palate” the entire time they had been dating, and she was furious!

Apparently the entire time we’ve been living together he’s just been skipping the pasta sauce on my noodles entirely!

He claimed that if I didn’t notice for this long then it shouldn’t matter that he is making dinner in a way that is easier for him. I disagree entirely.

I think the lying was a huge breach of trust and so was the refusal to make dinner how I wanted.

I have admittedly been acting passive aggressively to him since, but he thinks he did nothing wrong, that I’m overreacting, and that I need to let it go.

AITA?

This is absolutely ridiculous. You want the sauce washed off your spaghetti in the sink, and then you get mad when your boyfriend doesn’t put any sauce on at all?

How is that any different than washing off the sauce?

Reddit was gobsmacked on this one, and many people said both of them sounded absolutely awful.

Source: Reddit/AITASource: Reddit/AITA

And this user was reminded of a similar trick her family played on her younger sister.

Source: Reddit/AITASource: Reddit/AITA

This user recalled the line used on every young kid at least once in their life: “It’s chicken!”

Source: Reddit/AITASource: Reddit/AITA

This user told OP to ask her Dad if he actually washed the sauce off every time he made her “special pasta.”

Source: Reddit/AITASource: Reddit/AITA

And finally this user agreed, saying unless OP’s Dad literally cooked the pasta in the sauce, it wasn’t soaking up anything!

Source: Reddit/AITASource: Reddit/AITA

Sounds like these two deserve each other. Enjoy your noodles you psychos!

24 Shoes So Comfy, You’ll Be Tempted To Buy Multiple Pairs Of Them

BTW, this is included in Prime Try Before You Buy, meaning you can test this out for a trial run if you’re a Prime member.

Promising review:These shoes are a very cool closet staple to have and reasonable price! There is not a ton of stretch to the strappy part which I like so my foot isn’t sliding too far forward when I walk.

If you have wider feet, I would recommend going a size up? Although it’s listed to be memory foam, it’s not that cushion-y, but does mold to the shape of your sole/heel the more you wear them.

The only con is that the bottom of the shoe can be slippery on bare floors or tile so tread carefully. I went outside and shuffled the sandals a few times on the sidewalk to help these shoes have more grip. Alternative is to spray the bottom or buy grip stickers for the bottoms.” –N. Paul
