Today Is Earth Day! Here Are A Few Great Ways To Celebrate While Hanging Out At Home

Happy Earth Day! While you may be spending a little bit of time outside today, it’s likely not in the same capacity as years prior. Usually, Earth Day means outdoor concerts and increased park cleanup efforts. While Arbor Day is its own thing, some other people like to celebrate Earth Day by planting trees and beautifying their gardens. In short, Earth Day is the perfect day to celebrate our beautiful planet.

However, with stay-at-home orders, fewer people are out and about. And while the healthiest thing to do is keep a distance and continue to listen to the Center for Disease Control’s recommendations on how to stay safe, it’s still a bit of a bummer. With the world in the state that it’s in, it’s pretty hard to get into the celebrating spirit.

That said, there are plenty of ways to acknowledge Earth Day while staying at home. It could be a promise to recycle more often. Or it could be a pledge to start picking up public litter when given the go-ahead.

Chicago is participating in a digital advocacy day to help celebrate. That means that when things return to more of a normal state, you can volunteer to help clean up and beautify the planet then. They’re also encouraging people to celebrate by drawing pictures or creating artwork. Since art is a wonderful way to beautify our indoor spaces, it’ll be beneficial for many people.

New COVID-19 Tracking App May Find ‘Hotspots’

Signing up involves providing some basic health information and takes about three to four minutes, Chan said. After that, users are asked to spend about a minute per day registering updates, whether or not they have symptoms.

The app team hopes to eventually enlist a few hundred thousand participants. “The more data we collect, the more useful it will be,” explained Chan, though he acknowledged some challenges. One is ensuring that older Americans — who may feel less comfortable with the technology — participate. And then there’s the recognition that some Americans may have concerns over privacy.

To the later point, Chan noted that his team has “very clear guidelines around privacy that are outlined in the consent process in the app. We have our consent procedures reviewed by our hospitals institutional review board, and we abide by the strictest guidelines in terms of privacy of health information.”

But privacy concerns could very well be a deal breaker for many Americans, cautioned Chunhuei Chi, director of the Center for Global Health at Oregon State University.

The difficulty, he said, is trying to strike “a delicate balance between societal needs to control the epidemic versus protecting individual privacy and freedom.”

Other app efforts, such as one launched by Google, gathers location data to track the social impact of COVID-19, Chi pointed out. But in those cases, data collection has not focused on detailed information directly from individuals.

So it could be that “a substantial proportion of the American population may be uncomfortable with sharing such intimate health and behavior information via an app,” Chi noted.

That concern was not shared by Maura Iversen, a behavioral scientist and clinical epidemiologist and dean of Sacred Heart University’s College of Health Professions in Fairfield, Conn.

“I do think Americans will feel comfortable and be willing to share this information as we are pulling together to try to tackle this pandemic,” she said. And “as economics and health are so closely intertwined,” Iversen believes that widespread participation could ease the process of reopening the country.

“The sooner that we can get a grasp on who has the disease, how it spreads, and among which groups symptoms were mild then resolved, the easier it will be to make resource decisions and determine where and when to open businesses,” Iversen said.

Cardi B Condemns Georgia For Reopening Gyms, Nail Salons, And Other Non-Essential Businesses

Cardi B has emerged as an unexpected outspoken voice in politics. Early on in the election cycle, Cardi B endorsed Bernie Sanders and interviewed him about his policies on several occasions. She even recently gave him advice on the state of his nails while in quarantine. The rapper has also been vocal about the current pandemic. Following a viral remix of her social media coronavirus speech, Cardi has been offering her two cents about staying healthy during the pandemic, and the singer isn’t happy about Georgia lifting their temporary ban on non-essential businesses.

Georgia’s governor Brian Kemp announced Monday that he plans to reopen the state with some restrictions. While the state currently has over 18,000 confirmed cases, Governor Kemp said he plans to allow non-essential businesses like gyms, nail salons, barbershops, some restaurants, bowling alleys, and even movie theaters to resume operations as soon as Friday. Many criticized the governor’s decision, including Cardi B.

Commenting on an Instagram post about the state’s new policy, Cardi B issued a stern warning. “Don’t go around your parents or grandparents!” she wrote. “Once there sick and in the hospital wit covid you won’t be able to see how and what they are treating them with.” Cardi ended her cautionary message with a reminder of her priorities: “Health over capitalism.”

Is Charli D’Amelio Leaving Hype House After Breakup With Chase Hudson?

When Charli D’Amelio and Chase Hudson aka lilhuddy were dating, it was the biggest relationship on TikTok. They are among two of the biggest names on the app (Charli has the most followers), and they collaborated on content and teased their romance to fans.

Charli and Chase are also both members of Hype House, a residence collective of some of TikTok’s biggest stars — including Thomas Petrou, Addison Rae, and Patrick Huston.

While Hype House has gotten negative press recently as a result of founding member Daisy Keech’s dramatic exit, for the most part, it has boosted the careers of its members.

With the April 2020 announcement that Charli and Chase had broken up (but were choosing to remain friends), many wondered if Charli and sister Dixie D’Amelio would soon exit the collective.

After all, Charli is TikTok’s No. 1 star, and Chase’s father is the one whose name is on the Hype House deed.

Is Charli D’Amelio leaving Hype House? Find out whether there is any truth to the rumors that she is leaving the group because of her breakup.

Is Charli D’Amelio leaving Hype House?

While being in the Hype House has boosted the fame of most of its members, it was clear from its inception that Charli did not need to be part of it to get followers. When she joined the group in early 2020, she was already on the list of the top 10 most followed TikTok accounts.

After Chase was accused of cheating on Charli by sliding into the DMs of Nessa Barrett (who is dating TikTok star Josh Richards), the couple announced their split on April 13 via their Instagram stories.

“Since you guys have watched mine and Chase’s relationship from the start, I decided I needed to tell you all that we are no longer together,” Charli wrote on her Instagram account. “It hurts me to say this, but we’ve decided that this is what’s best for both of us. We are still close friends, and I would not change that for anything! I truly have so much love for Chase, and wish nothing but the best for him!”

“It makes me so happy to see all of the great things he has going for him. I’m sorry I waited so long to tell you all,” she continued. “I wanted to take the time to process it for myself. Breakups are tough for anyone, so I’d really rather not talk about it anymore.”

On the same day, Chase also confirmed the breakup on his Instagram stories. He reiterated that he and Charli would remain friends, and that he also wanted fans to respect his privacy.

Since revealing that they broke up, rumors have been rampant that Charli and Dixie would soon announce that they parted ways with Hype House. Chase is a founding member of the collective, plus he fronted much of the cash for the deposit on the house, and his dad’s name is the only one on the deed, so it would make sense that Charli would be the one to leave the group (though she has the most star power).

While Charli has yet to say anything about her status in the group, there is some evidence that her exit is inevitable.

Per the Instagram account TikTokRoom, the Hype House’s group Instagram page generally reposts its members’ social media activity. But, in recent weeks, neither Charli nor Dixie’s content has been featured on the page’s Instagram stories.

However, the Hype House’s official Instagram account does still follow Charli and Dixie. The account only follows the active members.

Another sign that Dixie and Charli will be leaving Hype House soon is that their family has been considering doing a reality show. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Charli explained that her family, which also includes parents Heidi and Marc D’Amelio — would definitely be interested in showing their home life on TV.

“I mean, definitely something that would be super fun [would be] for people to kind of see what goes on when we’re not just posting TikToks,” Charli said. “I feel like no one really gets to see, but, people are always talking about how they think our family dynamic is pretty cool.”

Marc confirmed that something was already in the works.

“We’re figuring out all that stuff right now. This has all kinda happened all really quickly. But we think if we’re gonna do it, we’ll go all in with it,” he said. “And like Charli said, let everyone get to know us a little bit more closely. So, we’re in the process of working it out right now.”

Considering the fact that the D’Amelio family resides in Connecticut, if they get a show, it seems as if Charli and Dixie will inevitably announce their departures from L.A.’s Hype House.

TikTok stars Bryce Hall and Josh Richards said Chase treated Charli terribly.

Though Chari and Chase both said that they are staying friends following their big breakup, several TikTok stars are claiming that Chase let fame affect the way that he treated Charli. Josh Richards and Bryce Hall are both members of Sway House, which is a collective similar to Hype House.

After Chase allegedly got flirty with Josh’s girlfriend, Nessa Barrett, Josh and Bryce released a diss track targeted at Chase. In “Still Softish,” the two said that Chase was nothing without Charli, and they confirmed that Chase reached out to Nessa while he was still with Charli.

Shortly after the song and music video were released, the Instagram account TikTokRoom obtained a screen recording of a Skype interview with Bryce and Josh.

In this interview, the two said that Chase treated Charli like “complete s–t.”

“Charli is so nice, and we thought the way that he was treating her was complete sh-t,” Bryce said in the interview. “And she’s so young, so she doesn’t know what complete sh-t really feels like. And I’m not trying to talk too much s–t on Chase, but he was being a d–k. He was not a good boy for her.”

Josh said that Chase has changed because of the high level of fame he’s gotten from TikTok.

“He’s just sadly a kid that used to have a really great heart and used to be a really outstanding kid. He was one of my best friends, but I think what happened over time is that the numbers sadly got to him,” Josh said. “And then, I think that he realized it at a point too, but it was just almost too late…”

Whether Charli saw this interview or listened to the song is unknown at this time.

You can listen to Josh and Bryce’s diss track below and see the music video that directly shades Chase. Warning: the language is NSFW.

‘Blinding Lights’ Challenge Sweeps TikTok—Thanks to Nichole Scherzinger, Jenny McCarthy

The “Blinding Lights” challenge, centered around a song by the Weeknd of the same name, is bringing TikTok together through glorious dance.

It’s unclear where the new trend started. TikTok credits user @macdaddyz as the originator. A video from the account shows three men bouncing along with the upbeat tune. They then break into a simple choreographed dance.

Though TikTok gives credit for originating the dance on @macdaddyz, users have been participating in the “Blinding Lights” challenge for weeks. Even Jenny McCarthy and her husband Donny Wahlberg participated, back at the start of April.

The award for best entry into the “Blinding Lights” challenge, however, may well go to the Pussycat Dolls’ Nichole Scherzinger. She uploaded her version of the TikTok challenge to Instagram, where it immediately blew her followers away. In Scherzinger’s version of the dance, she replaces any backup dancers with an effect that provides copies of herself to either side. Her brightly colored scrunchies, headband, and neon gear certainly keep the ’80s vibe strong.

Scherzinger’s dance involves plenty of hair-swirling and big, workout video grins. Her caption really drove the point home. “Alright #MondayMotivation,” the 41-year-old star wrote. “Who’s ready to jazzercise with me??”

Scherzinger’s excellent entry will have to spar with an upload with perhaps the best participation. One of the challenge’s best videos features an entire classroom of students taking part. Their poor, baffled teacher can only watch as all of her students drop what they are doing and begin dancing. Their timing is honestly pretty incredible.

A few healthcare workers even took part. Their entry, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, brings a little extra charm to the challenge.

Iconic Venice Beach Skate Park Filled With Sand to Deter Skateboarders

The famous skate park in Venice Beach has been filled with sand to deter skateboarders and people congregating nearby amid the worsening global pandemic. From an empty Times Square to an empty Las Vegas strip, this is yet another eerie image that Covid-19 has produced.

Aerial photos and video captured by Hunter Weiss have sparked a conversation about the tactic, as dozens of homeless people within sight of the legendary skate park continue to sleep and congregate in the area.

Some LA residents think the cost and resources used to fill the skate park with sand could have been better used to help some of the homeless people in the area.

11 Items Under $20 That’ll Spruce Up A Bathroom In Need

Have you ever stopped and realized how significant your bathroom is? Obviously it’s a very important room in the house, but for many, the bathroom is the first place they go after getting out of bed. Your shower, makeup routine, and even your hair might be set in there. For parents, it’s also a great place to go and hide if you need just five minutes of privacy from your kids.

However, bathroom decor is often a little predictable. Usually, it’s filled with watercolor paintings or framed drawings that wouldn’t fit anywhere else in your house. It’s not necessarily a fun place to be. But, it should be. Especially since right now, there’s a good chance that your living quarters are feeling a little cramped. A small redecorating project might lift your spirits. If you can get everything you need without having to step foot outside, even better.

Redecorating your bathroom doesn’t even have to cost you an arm and a leg. You can find a bunch of useful items for $20 or less. If you’re looking for a little bit of inspiration on where to start, here are 11 items that’ll help you spruce up your bathroom.
