New Song, Challenges, Skins, and More

Rapper Travis Scott is bringing the realm of his best-selling album “Astroworld” to the confines of Fortnite with a new collaboration with Epic Games. The game developer officially revealed today that its next in-game Fortnite concert will be headlined by none other than the “Sicko World” rapper, and it’ll be live within Fortnite on several dates throughout the rest of the week. Forget stargazing, you’re going to want to look at your screen to see what all Travis is bringing with his event.

Travis will be coming to Fortnite with his own miniature in-game “Astronomical” event, which has been described by Epic Games as “an other-worldly experience inspired by Cactus Jack’s creations, built from the ground up in Fortnite.” Basically, if you love Travis and want to hear new music from him, you’re going to want to park it in-game for one of his “tour dates” coming up very soon for this virtual tour. When can you check it out? We’ve got everything you need to know right here.

When can you see Travis Scott’s “Astronomical” event in ‘Fortnite’?

Unlike most of Fortnite’s previous one-time-only shows (like the first Marshmello concert), Travis Scott’s “Astronomical” will get a special virtual concert tour. It will take place across several days beginning on April 23. Here’s the full schedule.

  • April 23rd; The Americas, 7 p.m. ET
  • April 24th: EU & ME, 10 a.m. ET
  • April 25th: Asia & Oceania, 12 a.m. ET
  • April 25th: EU & ME, 11 a.m. ET
  • April 25th: The Americas, 6 p.m. ET

If you head in-game and check out one of the showtimes, you’ll get a new Travis Scott skin as part of the festivities, along with a variety of new emotes and other in-game items. An exclusive glider as well as additional loading screens will be up for grabs for attendees, too. Starting on April 21 (Tuesday), a new series of “Astronomical” challenges will be loaded in for even more goodies.

As far as when you’ll hear Travis’s new song during the event, that isn’t clear just yet. It will likely premiere during one of the slots, likely toward the end, giving players a chance to see what the rapper has put together before visitors potentially log off. It’s been since 2018 that Scott released his critically-acclaimed album “Astroworld”, so it’s about time for a few new tracks from him. Having them debut in Fortnite is a pretty big deal, too.

If you’re a music fan or just like to see how creative developers can be when it comes to fun in-game events, you’ll definitely want to pop online and see what “Astronomical” looks like. Judging by the brief glimpses we’ve seen thus far, it looks like we’re in for some surreal skins and items as well as some very unique visuals. Travis has been known for the psychedelic influences on his music, so we’ll probably see it reflected in his art as well. It’s definitely going to be a one-of-a-kind show.

This Viral TikTok has People Backseat Parenting a Baby

A viral video of a baby wearing a diaper has provoked unsolicited parenting advice from thousands of TikTok users.

The child in the video is bouncing on the back of an adult man. While some commenters find the boy to be adorable, others have chosen to shame the parents for their choices, saying that the boy is too large for his age or too old to be wearing diapers.

“He’s very healthy,” the boy’s mother, TikTok user @kat.027, wrote in response to criticism. “He’s a healthy happy 3 year old nothing wrong with him. My husband and I have really tall boys in the family.”

More criticism focuses on the boy’s health, with speculation as to wether he has an underlying health condition. The baby’s mother said on TikTok that he is perfectly healthy and that doctors expect him to be at least 6 feet 3 inches tall. Still, commenters are supplying more unnecessary advice.

“You guys need to be setting a better example for him,” TikTok user @friendswiththecoolkids wrote in response to a video featuring the boy eating a cookie.

Not everyone in the comment section is out to condemn the family’s parenting methods.

“He’s just a big kid,” TikTok user @Sagebe.e wrote. “There’s nothing wrong he’s happy and healthy and has very loving parents.”

We’ve reached out to the family’s TikTok account and will update with a response.

What Happens When You Leave in the Middle of a ‘Valorant’ Game?

Little by little, Riot Games’ Valorant is becoming one of the most popular games in the world right now, eclipsing mammoths like League of Legends and even Fortnite as players flock to stream it. The new first-person shooter from Riot Games is a colorful, tactical multiplayer game that has hundreds of thousands of viewers watching its every move, and even more still hoping to get their hands on a closed beta key to start playing.

But with that in mind, new players have plenty of questions about how some of the game’s rules will work. For instance, given that it’s a title from Riot Games’ cadre, how will it treat anyone who doesn’t play by the rules and leaves games early, or anyone who has connectivity problems and exits a match? Those are both very good questions, because they’re two equally legitimate realities in the world of online multiplayer gaming. Don’t worry, though. We’ve gotten to the bottom of things for you.

What happens if you leave a ‘Valorant’ game?

If you’re worried about some sort of punishment for leaving a Valorant match, don’t get too worked up. The penalties are very lenient, it seems, after testing things out. So if you leave a Valorant game early, you don’t have to worry about being banned or treated like a troll for the time being. In fact, Valorant’s system is very similar to the same one Riot Games uses for its MOBA title League of Legends.

If you leave early, you can’t queue another game unless you wait for the game to finish or join it once more. The same thing will happen if you don’t choose an Agent, or playable character to jump in as. You’ll be hit with what’s called a “soft match cool down,” which means you’re either going to be waiting for the match to end or forced to join once more.

Source: Riot Games

There are no ranked matches right now in the closed beta, so you don’t have to worry about rank or skill penalties being applied at the moment if you leave early. Put simply, you can’t just leave the game you’re playing to go jump into another one if you get mad you’re on the losing side. You can leave, but it doesn’t behoove you to do so, since you’ll be left waiting either way to get back into the game or the one you just left. Now, this may change as the beta changes shape going forward.

It’s unclear how many different modes Valorant will end up having by the time it’s out of beta. It’s highly possible there may be harsher penalties when that time comes, but for right now this is what you’re dealing with. With this information in mind, it’s better to just stick out a game that you’re not doing well in, because you’re going to be left waiting twiddling your thumbs or rejoining anyway. Might as well finish it up.

What Happened to Big Time Rush? We Just Got a (Sort Of) Reunion

It appears that many celebrities are doing their best to lighten their fans’ spirits in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic and Big Time Rush is no exception. Despite the fact that they haven’t been performing together since their show ended in 2013, the four bandmates reunited on Zoom to give fans a message of love and support, even dropping in a little hint that sounds to a lot of Rushers like they might be getting back together.

What happened to Big Time Rush?

Much like with One Direction saying that they were on a break, not breaking up, Big Time Rush kind of did the same thing. Though the show ended in 2013, the band didn’t exactly end at the same time. In an interview with the HuffPost, Carlos PenaVega (nee Pena), Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, and Logan Henderson said that the show was indeed over and band was likely not putting out music for a while. And they were pretty blunt about it.

“We’ve all known for five years that we’re ready for our individual careers,” Carlos said. But he clarified his thought, saying that didn’t mean that the band would not ever make new music together again. “I think it’ll just help the band if we give people time to miss us — it’s kind of like a relationship. […] I think that we’ve been around for five years is great. Now, we’re leaving for a little bit.”

Kendall did jump in to say, “Or won’t come back at all.” While that sounds like he was saying that Big Time Rush was over, he also explained his thoughts a little further. “It’s sort of like a thin line to walk on, because we have a lot of fans who love Big Time Rush and we don’t want to ever disappoint them. We want them to be fans of individuals whenever we go and do our own things.”

“In terms of new content, it might be a while, but might not be ever,” James added. “We don’t know at this point and we’ve all kind of been saying, ‘We’re all really excited and really antsy to be our own individual artists outside the band — and support each other.'”

What Happened to Big Time Rush? They’re Officially Back

Much like with One Direction saying that they were on a break but not breaking up, Big Time Rush kind of did the same thing. Though their Nickelodeon comedy show of the same name ended in 2013, the band didn’t exactly end at the same time.

In an interview with HuffPost, Carlos PenaVega (neé Peña), Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, and Logan Henderson said that the show was indeed over and band was likely not putting out music for a while. And they were pretty blunt about it.

Casey Neistat’s Car Accident Leads to a Heartwarming Exchange

It’s easy to feel like everyone is out for themselves and only themselves, especially the way things have been going lately. Some days it seems like every news story is just yet another indication that there are too many people in the world who don’t seem to care if anyone else lives or dies.

Fortunately, there are still plenty of stories to remind us that those jerks, as loud as they may be, are in the minority, and there’s still plenty of faith to be had in the whole of humanity.

YouTuber Casey Neistat, who was known for his popular daily vlogs, shared a small moment following a car accident that helped remind him of that very fact, and it’s resonating with people across the internet, as we all search for some positivity to brighten up our day.

This morning, Neistat accidentally hit somebody’s car while he was parking. He left a note on the windshield offering to pay for the damages.

“Hello. I scratched the hood of your car while parking mine,” he wrote. “Please call/text so I can pay for the repair. My sincerest apologies for the trouble.”

To start with, if you’ve spent a lot of time parking your car in public spaces in big cities like Los Angeles, you know there’s maybe a 50/50 chance that somebody will leave you a note if they scratch your car when you aren’t around. So Neistat not slinking away and shirking responsibility is, sadly, in and of itself a pretty good deed.

But things got way more awesome when the driver of the truck got back in touch with him.

“Hey thank you so much for the note,” they texted. “Please don’t worry about the scratch. Any money you had to put towards my car feel free to please donate to a local Venice food bank. Have a great week!”

Neistat shared on Twitter the whole text exchange between them, which ultimately resulted in him sending a receipt for a $250 donation to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank in honor of “Mr. Scratched Car” and offering yet again to Venmo the mystery driver, but they declined.

This series of fully positive interactions really struck a chord with folks on Twitter, many of whom are just so rung out by the state of the world right now.

Stories of people being kind always come as a welcome respite from what often seems like a constant barrage of bad news, but to see people prioritizing the needs of their neighbors who are struggling through the coronavirus outbreak is pretty great.

And hey, it certainly isn’t every day that a story that begins with a minor car accident eventually turns into a heartwarming tale about people being good.

Why Is ‘God Friended Me’ Ending? The Cast Is as Surprised as We Are

According to TVLine, the series’ ratings were down more than 20 percent from Season 1 and it had the smallest gain via DVR playback of any scripted CBS program.

In a joint statement, the network and Warner Bros. Television didn’t elaborate on their decision to pull the plug, instead writing, “We’re extremely proud of the unique concept and uplifting stories God Friended Me has told over the past two seasons.”

They thanked “the brilliant cast, writers, production team, and crew” who worked on the series, which followed techie Miles Finer, an atheist tasked with helping people sent to him through a mysterious Facebook page run by “God.”

“The creative team behind the show has one last ‘friend suggestion’ in mind,” the statement reads, “as well as an ending we hope brings a satisfying conclusion to Miles’ journey in search of the God Account.”
