Cardi B Responds To Accusations Of Supporting Terrorism After Posting About Armenia

Cardi B has found herself on the wrong end of some internet ire after posting about Armenia, and she has offered a response to her critics.

Some background: Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Armenia and Azerbaijan have been embroiled in border disputes. The countries are currently feuding over Nagorno-Karabakh, a disputed territory to which both nations lay claim. Internationally, the territory is recognized as part of Azerbaijan. Tensions have been particularly high over the past week, as fights between the countries have resulted in dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries. There are concerns that the situation could escalate.

Meanwhile, on her Instagram Story, Cardi posted a flyer for a televised virtual fundraiser supporting Armenia, which rubbed some people the wrong way. Using the hashtag #cardibsupportsterrorism, Twitter users laid into Cardi, accusing her of succumbing to misinformation and encouraging her to do some research before posting.

In response to one user, Cardi wrote, “Stfu I don’t support terrorism.I literally posted it for my friend with out doing no research on what’s going on .Im sorry about that .I don’t like war .I don’t like conflicts between two countries period cause I hate innocent people being affected by it.”

Before that post, she shared a two-part audio tweet in which she explained her situation, which she captioned, “I’m so sorry .We did not do our research.” She talked about how she’s trying to sell a property in Atlanta, and how a consultant helping her in the process is Armenian. The consultant asked her to post something positive about Armenia, which Cardi did before waking up to backlash. She then said she didn’t know about the international dispute, praised both countries, and wished for Armenia and Azerbaijan to find peace and a resolution to their disputes.

Tyra Banks Awkwardly Announces The Wrong Couple In The Bottom 2 During Chaotic ‘DWTS’ Moment

At the very end of last night’s “Dancing With the Stars”, which was being taped live, new host Tyra Banks was supposed to reveal which duo was safe, and which two pairs were in the bottom.

First, Tyra told Monica Aldama (the cheerleading coach from Netflix’s “Cheer”) along with Monica’s partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, that they were in the clear.

Then, she told NFL star Vernon Davis and Peta Murgatroyd that they were in the bottom. She did the same with Anne Heche and her professional dancing partner, Keo Motsepe.

However, Tyra quickly noticed a horrible mistake had been made; Monica and Val were in the bottom two, not Peta and Vernon!

Tyra awkwardly had to ask Monica to come back to the stage and face the possibility of being eliminated.

“There has been an error in our control room,” Tyra told the judges and audience. “This is live TV. This is the craziness of live TV. I’m so sorry.”

Tyra claimed that whatever was written on the cards was incorrect.

Despite the mix-up, Anne Heche and Keo were ultimately eliminated from the competition.

The model, actress, and host went home and reminded everyone that people make mistakes, and that crazy things can happen on live television.

“Wowzers. Live TV. Wrong name on cards. So challenging to deal with moments like these. But we power through.”

See the awkward TV moment in the clip below.

Rihanna Remixes Hadith for Savage X Fenty Show, Backlash Ensues

Rihanna released her second fashion show for Savage X Fenty on Amazon Prime Video Friday. When watching the show, her Muslim fans noticed that one of the songs used in the show included a chopped and remixed Hadith, which is an Islamic scripture.

Tumblr account Sunbrujo summarized why the use of the scripture in this way is considered Islamophobic in a viral post. “The hadith used is of prophet [Muhammad] explaining signs of the day of [judgment], which is also called [doomsday] and you know what the song is called? Doom,” the account wrote. “[Hadiths] are very important in our religion and to make a song out of one of them and dance to it is just pure mockery of our religion.”

Others on different social media platforms likewise criticized Rihanna’s use of the song.

“[Y’all] don’t realize how disrespectful it was what Rihanna did. [She] didn’t use music [that’s] in Arabic or anything. [She] used a hadith, hadith and [Arabic] songs are two different things, and she used the words of our prophet, that are meant to guide [Muslims], for her lingerie show,” One person tweeted.

Another called out a hypothetical double standard. “[This] is very disrespectful and should be [apologized] for. [If] this was a bible verse the world would have erupted,” they tweeted.

In an Instagram Story, Rihanna apologized, calling the use of the prayer a “huge oversight that was unintentionally offensive,” and thanked the Muslim community for bringing it to her attention. “I would, more importantly, like to apologize for this honest, yet careless mistake. We understand that we hurt many of our Muslim brothers and sisters and I’m incredibly disheartened by this,” she wrote.

“I do not play with any kind of disrespect towards God or any religion and therefore the use of the song in our project was completely irresponsible! Moving forward, we will make sure nothing like this ever happens again,” she continued.

An alleged Instagram DM from the star to a fan has also been circulating online. “I just hope people don’t think I did this on purpose or to be offensive or anything like that! Cause you know I would NEVER!! So I’m editing it out now, but of course you can’t take it back, you know?!” part of the alleged DM reads.

The message, however, has yet to be verified, and some are speculating that it’s fake.

Wearing a Mask Doesn’t Cause CO2 Poisoning

By Robert Preidt
HealthDay Reporter

TUESDAY, Oct. 6, 2020 (HealthDay News) — Wearing a face mask cannot lead to carbon dioxide poisoning, even in people with lung disease, researchers report.

The findings counter claims that wearing face masks to prevent spread of the new coronavirus may put some people’s health at risk.

The authors of the new study assessed changes in oxygen or carbon dioxide levels in healthy people as well as in those with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), before and while using surgical masks.

In general, people with COPD must “work harder to breathe,” which can lead to shortness of breath and/or a tired feeling, according to the American Thoracic Society.

The study — published online Oct. 2 in the Annals of the American Thoracic Society — found “that the effects [of wearing masks] are minimal at most even in people with very severe lung impairment,” said lead author Dr. Michael Campos. He’s an associate professor in the University of Miami’s division of pulmonary, allergy, critical care and sleep medicine.

Campos also addressed the feeling of breathlessness that some healthy people may experience when wearing a mask.

“Dyspnea, the feeling of shortness of breath, felt with masks by some is not synonymous of alterations in gas exchange. It likely occurs from restriction of air flow with the mask in particular when higher ventilation is needed (on exertion),” he said in a society news release.

For example, if you’re walking briskly up a hill, you may experience breathlessness, and a mask that is too tight may increase that feeling. The solution: Slow down or remove the mask if you’re at a safe distance from other people, Campos advised.

“It is important to inform the public that the discomfort associated with mask use should not lead to unsubstantiated safety concerns as this may attenuate the application of a practice proven to improve public health,” the researchers concluded.

“The public should not believe that masks kill,” Campos emphasized.

Trump’s Claim He’s Feeling Really Good Becomes A Meme

On Monday, Trump tweeted that he was going to be leaving the Walter Reed Medical Center and that he was “feeling really good.” Better than he did 20 years ago, in fact!

I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M. Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!

Twitter was pretty dubious about this claim and decided to express its cynicism through the time-honored tradition of pop culture references. Primarily with pictures of unsuspecting fictional characters about to have a very bad time.

Bam Adebayo Reportedly Plans To Play In Game 4 Against The Lakers

The Miami Heat will be getting closer to full strength in Game 4 of the NBA Finals after an improbable Game 3 win that saw Jimmy Butler explode for a 40-point triple-double to make the Lakers advantage in the series just 2-1. That the Heat picked up a win in one of the two games they didn’t have Bam Adebayo or Goran Dragic was critical for their chances, and while it seems unlikely they’ll get their starting point guard back soon, it appears their All-Star center will be returning to the lineup on Tuesday night.

https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

Adebayo has been a critical part of the Heat’s run to the Finals, owning the biggest on/off court net rating difference of anyone on the Miami roster. He exited Game 1 with an apparent shoulder injury, with an MRI revealing a neck strain that has kept him off the court for the past two games, but he was upgraded to questionable on Monday and it appears he’s been able to continue improving to the point that he’ll be cleared to play.

One would assume he will be making his return to the starting five, which likely means the Meyers Leonard minutes in Game 4 will be limited to erased completely, as Kelly Olynyk emerged as a weapon for Miami in Game 3 and figures to get ample time again to spell Adebayo. In any case, Adebayo’s presence is a welcome addition to this series as Miami looks to even things up and make this Finals suddenly far more interesting than most anticipated we’d get going into Sunday.

Deep Sea Fishing in Miami (Dolphin, Wahoo, Amberjacks, and Tripletail)

Deep Sea Fishing in Miami (Dolphin, Wahoo, Amberjacks, and Tripletail)
In this episode of BlacktipH, I go fishing for dolphin (mahi-mahi), tripletail, wahoo, and amberjacks in Miami with the LandH Sport Fishing boat. The day started with us trolling planers and searching for floating debris. After catching a few bonito and mahi, we finally found some good floating debris. There was a bunch of tripletail on the debris. Both Laurel and I had a blast catching them. After catching the tripletail, we trolled planers around the debris and caught several wahoo. On our search for more floating debris, we found a huge school of mahi and boated over 20 fish. Towards the end of the day, Laurel caught the largest dolphin, a 20lb bull! On the way back into Miami, we stopped at a deep wreck and dropped down live baits for amberjack. Immediately I was hooked up to a giant! After an intense fight, I landed the 50+lb amberjack. Laurel finished the day with anther big amberjack!

Getting A Therapist Was The Best Gift I Could Have Given Myself As A Grieving Mom With Anxiety

I have many memories from back in elementary school — and while most are great, some have proven to me that my issues with mental health started very young.

For example, many times in class, I felt sick. It wasn’t a fever or anything that was visible from the outside. Instead, I felt nervous and scared. It could have stemmed from a classmate saying something I interpreted as being negative, or perhaps we were in the midst of learning something that felt over my head. The school nurse knew me very well.

The school nurse, may I add, puzzled me greatly. At the time, I had no clue that I suffered from anxiety. But she always called my dad to send me home, whether or not I had a fever. And typically, I didn’t. She may have known I was suffering from something else, but “anxiety” was never thrown out there.

My dad was also puzzled. He assumed that I was faking it all of those times, especially as I quickly nuzzled on the couch back home to turn on the television and relax. By the time I made it home, I was feeling better. It was because I managed to flee from the scene — the math problems I didn’t understand, and the social pressures at the time. I was afraid of being wrong in front of my classmates. I was so terrified of ever looking foolish. “Everyone must feel this way,” I told myself up until I graduated college. I honestly felt everyone else worried as much as I did. I thought I was “normal.”

Talking about mental health with my dad was a struggle. Obviously, he always wanted me to be well. But since mental health holds such a stigma, he felt as if the cure for depression was simply “thinking about how much you’re blessed.” In reality, mental health is so much more than that. It’s one of the most important things to focus on, especially this year when the world has been so shaken up. Especially mine. My father passed away at the beginning of summer. After months of being unstable and depressed (with no happy thoughts to take me out of it) I decided to try therapy online. And here’s why you should, too.
