On this day in Karbalā’, Sayyidunā Imām Ḥusayn ibn ‘Alī was cruelly martyred by Yazīd and his troops.

When Sayyidunā Ḥusayn was martyred, the world stood still, and the stars collided with each other. He was martyred on the day of ‘Āshūrā’, and there was a lunar eclipse that day, and the sky remained *-red for the following six months, which had never been seen before. It is also reported that fresh * was found under every stone in Jerusalem that day. [Tārīkh al-Khulafā’]

Sayyidunā Ḥusayn embodied what it means to stand against injustice, tyranny, and despotism. He watered the dry garden of freedom with his flowing * and managed to awaken the slumbering Muslim nation.

Rasūlullāh ‎ﷺ went from Makkah to Madīnah to spread Islām. Sayyidunā Imām Ḥusayn went from Madīnah to Karbalā’ to uphold the religion of Islām. May Allāh continue to honor, elevate, bless, and shower His grace and peace upon Sayyidunā Imām Ḥusayn and his pure family, who sacrificed their lives.
