Nonprofit Donates 200,000 Pairs Of Socks To Make Sure People In Need Can Protect Their Feet

Socks are a clothing necessity that we take for granted. In family and homeless shelters across the country, socks are in short supply. Kansas City, Missouri, nonprofit Community Services League is helping to fill that need by making sure everyone in the area has access to this often overlooked piece of clothing.

Volunteers at Community Services League have packed hundreds of boxes with socks from the popular sock company Bombas. According to their website, Bombas was founded on the philosophy of donating socks to those in need but has evolved to go deeper into the community. The company recognizes that new clothing is in high demand in homeless shelters, and this guides even how they engineer their items. Bombas socks are designed to specifically meet the needs of people who live in shelters, such as anti-microbial finishes for people without regular access to clean launder and reinforced seams.

The company gifted 200,000 pairs of socks to Community Services League. With the help of community partners, Community Services League has already donated most of that large supply to people in need in the Kansas City area.

“A new pair of socks can mean the difference between losing toes and keeping your toes. How critical that is for our neighbors on the streets to be able to give them a new pair of socks,” said Community Services League CEO and President Doug Cowan.
