Nervous Veteran Waits To Reunite With K-9, Calls Her Name On Live TV To See If She Remembers

Matthew Kropp spent years in Iraq working to protect the United States embassy. For three years, his military dog Tina was by his side. Together, they prevented explosives from entering the embassy.

Matthew credits the beloved German shepherd for keeping him alive during his deployment, both physically and emotionally.

“Without her I wouldn’t be able to live,” he says. But in December 2017, the inseparable pair were split apart; Tina had grown too old to work, and she was retired from service.

Matthew eventually returned to the States and to his wife and children. But there was a hole in his heart — in the shape of his dearest canine companion.

That’s where K9 Hero Haven stepped in. This amazing organization has adopted and found forever homes for more than 200 retired military dogs. Anne Gibbs, who runs K9 Hero Haven, was able to connect Matthew and Tina and arrange for a very special reunion, over one year in the making.

As you’re about to see, Matthew was so incredibly nervous as he waited for Tina. He hoped and prayed that she’d remember him and be just as excited for their reunion.
