When children dream of what they want to be when they grow up, some will say a professional basketball player; others will say a teacher, or doctor, or even an influencer. But for one man, he always wanted to be an animal.
This is Toco, a Japanese man who recently took his first steps outdoors in a custom-made Collie dog costume that cost him 2 million yen, which converts to about $14,000.
In a video documenting his journey outside — which has amassed over 5.6 million views in just over a week — Toco explains via closed captions that he’s “fulfilling a dream I had since I was a little child to be an animal!”
In the 5-minute clip, Toco poses for cameras and completes beloved dog tricks like giving a high five…
…and socializing with other dogs.
People in the comments were shocked by how incredibly lifelike the suit looks. “Have to admit,” one person wrote. “The face features are amazing.”
“Toco’s dedication to realize and willingness to spend the money has done him right,” another added. “Plus, [having] a very wonderful, understanding, ‘traditionally normal looking’ human [walking him] makes him very approachable.”
And while many certainly classified the situation as odd, they also had to give props to Toco’s commitment. “Their parents said they could be anything when they grew up,” a YouTube commenter wrote. “They wanted to be a dog and made it happen. As bizarre as it is, I’ll give them props for fulfilling their dream.”
Though Toco’s walking video is his most popular, it’s most certainly not the only one. Through his YouTube channel titled “I Want To Be an Animal,” Toco has been documenting his dog life for the past year.
There are videos of him obeying commands, like sitting and waiting for food.
And then enjoying a hearty bowl of pup chow.
He also hangs out in his kennel…
…and enjoys time with his toys.
So yeah! You can be anything you wanna be, I guess.
