Lonely Grandpa At Nursing Home Looks Out Window To See Grandkids Surprising Him In Cap And Gowns

Vana Ebrahimi recently graduated from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles and her brother graduated from medical school. Their incredible achievements are even more special since both siblings are first generation college students.

Despite the fact their commencement ceremonies were canceled due to the pandemic, Vana and her brother wanted to get their beloved grandpa Hayrik involved in their graduation day.

Hayrik has lived at a nursing home since January. The home has been under a lockdown since March, and Vana hadn’t seen him in months.

Decades ago, Hayrik escaped war torn Iran and made it to America with no money and no knowledge of the English language. Now he gets to see his grandchildren accomplish the American dream.

“For us to be able to not just go to college, but also get a graduate degree… It was like the struggle of coming here and escaping war and doing all that was worth it,” Vana told KTLA.

In the tear-jerking clip below, Vana and her brother surprise their grandpa through the glass door of the nursing home, standing there in their cap and gowns.

While sitting in his wheelchair, thinking it was just another quiet day, Hayrik realized what was happening and broke down in tears.
