Kurt Cobain’s Daughter Opens Up About Her ‘Guilt’ Over Inheriting His Fortune

Frances Bean Cobain earns a lot of money from her late father Kurt Cobain’s legacy, and she has complicated feelings about it.

The 26-year-old chatted with RuPaul on a recent episode of the RuPaul: What’s the Tee? podcast. She got extremely real about her finances, her parents, her music career, and other personal topics.

Frances’s father Kurt, the frontman of the band Nirvana, died by suicide in 1994. Frances reportedly earns $95,000 a month from Kurt’s publicity rights.

“My relationship to money is different because I didn’t earn it,” she admitted on the podcast. “And so it’s almost like this big, giant loan that I’ll never get rid of.”

She went on to explain that she feels “guilt” over the money because she didn’t earn it herself and didn’t get to know her father.

As a musician herself, Frances has followed in her late father’s footsteps. Last year, she said she hoped that her father “would be proud of the human being I am.”
