John Legend and Chrissy Teigen‘s family is all things adorable and fun. The Stephens kids are hilarious, happy children that show a refreshing sense of normalcy despite their parents’ celebrity. They’re also a beautiful example of what it is to grow up in a multiracial household.
For those who don’t know, Chrissy is half-Thai, half-white. John is black. Although his 23andMe results have discovered some European in his ancestry, he has very much lived the experience of a black man in America. The different experiences that Chrissy and John’s wider families have had a topic of conversation in their household. They’re a family that believes in celebrating and embracing their differences. John says this will continue as 3½-year-old Luna and 1½-year-old Miles grow.
John discussed what it’s like for his kids growing up multiracial and what he hopes they’ll get from it in a conversation with People. The conversation was in celebration of the fourth annual National Day of Racial Healing, established by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
