John Cena Makes A One Million Dollar Donation To Support The Black Lives Matter Movement

John Cena’s recent Twitter announcement took many fans of the WWE star by surprise. John announced that he would match a $1 million donation made by BTS Army to Black Lives Matter.

The fan group is the loyal followers of internationally acclaimed K-Pop group BTS. The group encouraged fans to come together and match their $1 million donation as part of the #MatchAMillion initiative.

John opened up about being a BTS fan on an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden. “I became interested in the fact that they are a Korean pop band and they were the first Korean pop band to actually connect everybody throughout the world,” he said.

“They have fans throughout the world, so being in live entertainment, I was like, ‘Wow! That’s interesting. How do they do this?’”

“Then I began listening to their music and listen to the message they send to their fans, and it’s one of self-love and self-reflection and being confident in yourself even though you may be different.”

It’s not the first time that John’s generosity has been noted. He was widely believed to have made an anonymous $40,000 to the family of Shad Gaspard. The former WWE star died after being caught in a rip current while at Venice Beach with his son. John and Shad were part of the Cryme Tyme Cenation together. The donation was accompanied by the message “CTC RIP.”
