In 1298, when Sultan Alaadin Kayqubad III ascended the throne, the next year, he received great news that the Uch Bey, Osman Bey, has conquered an important Byzantine fort Karajahisar.
Upon hearing this news, Sultan Aladdin Kayqubad became very happy. He gave Osman Bey the title of “Osman Ghazi” and “Osman Pasha.”
