You’d think porch pirates only strike at night under the cover of darkness… certainly not in broad daylight. But front porch thievery continues to happen in towns all across the country, no matter the time of day.

Recently, a woman with an armful of bags approached Shirah Bookers’s home in Long Beach, California. She looked around to make sure no one was watching her, but little did she know her every move was being recorded by Shirah’s doorbell security camera.

As you’re about to see, the suspect definitely picked the wrong day, and the wrong envelope, to take.

Shirah — a mother-of-three with self-defense training — had already had enough of thieves swiping packages off other people’s porches. She was ready to take action and defend her property should it happen to her and her family.

Just as the thief began rifling through Shirah’s mail and opening her sealed envelopes, Shirah quietly opened the door. She wanted to catch her in the act.

“Sometimes you just have to get Rice Krispie and snap, crackle and pop. And that’s what needed to happen. People need to know you’re not the one to mess with.”

Shirah suddenly burst out the door, catching the porch pirate completely off-guard — and the dramatic encounter was captured on camera.
