Family Friend Says Despite Rumors, Prince Harry ‘Didn’t Leave On Good Terms’ With Prince William

Despite previous reports to the contrary, a family friend of the royals is now telling sources that Prince Harry and William “did not leave on good terms” prior to Harry and Meghan Markle’s move to Canada.

The two royals have reportedly been arguing since 2017, when Prince William reportedly cautioned Harry to slow down his relationship with Meghan. William famously dated Kate Middleton for several years before the two got married, and William allegedly wanted Harry to follow his lead.

The move reportedly hurt Harry, who was said to have been surprised and upset with William. After Harry and Meghan moved, people assumed that he and William were on their way to mending their relationship, but that might not be true.

A family friend has told People magazine, “They didn’t leave on good terms by any means, but they are both relieved that it’s over.” The friend also added, “Perhaps [Meghan and Harry] didn’t think things through exactly as they could have, but they wanted to be happy. Who can blame them for that?”

The ongoing royal drama has made its way into just about every part of public life in the UK, and Prince William and Kate Middleton sat through several jokes about Prince Harry while attending the BAFTAs this week.

The royal family has also pulled together to address the situation. In her statement, Queen Elizabeth said: “My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family. Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.”
