Everything The “Bama Rush” Documentary Did And Didn’t Talk About

Holliday, one of the young women followed by the documentary, drops a very casual bomb a little over halfway through the film: “We got roofied at a bar,” she says, and laughs nervously.

“The last thing I remember is looking at Makayla, and I was gone. And my friend found me in the woods. We took Makayla to the hospital, and she had drugs in her system.”

“Do you think he’ll get, like, criminal charges?” asks Rachel gently.

“If we- if anybody pressed any, but I’m not,” says Makayla. She cringes. “I’ve already been through that court case, I don’t want to go through it again.”

“Have you been roofied before?” asks Rachel with surprise.

Makayla furrows her eyebrows and replies like it’s obvious. “Mm-hmm! Like, three times before.”
