Episode 132: Some Thoughts (1/5)

Brilliant episode, totally worth the hype, & for those interested, I’ll be sharing my thoughts in a series of posts in the next few days. While we wait for the next episode 🤍🤍

Yunus Emre, Osman Gazi & the Ants…

I loved this scene. It was thought provoking, it was heartwarming and it gently underscored why I love this series the way I do & what sets it apart from the rest.

The way they utilized two historical characters – Osman Gazi & Yunus Emre – and their exchange of words to bring to our mind, Surah Naml – to read, to research, to ponder upon its meaning, its exegesis.

The placement in the narrative was simply brilliant.

Osman Gazi and his soldiers on their way to more conquests, fame & power – and Yunus Emre meets him on the way with the timely reminder about the sanctity of the life of innocents, however insignificant we may deem them to be.

And no matter how lofty one’s goals, nothing justifies, intentionally or unintentionally, shedding the * of innocents.

Even if it means that one has to reroute oneself….

I couldn’t help but think about certain heartless terms, ideas, found in the pages of history – Manifest Destiny, Collateral Damage etc etc and contrast them with this idea…
