During the time of the Islamic Khilāfah, Muslims diligently searched for several days to find the deserving recipients of their yearly Zakāt. However, in the rare event they couldn’t locate someone, they would place the money in a bag and hang it around a tree, accompanied by a note that read, “My fellow Muslim, despite my efforts, I couldn’t find you. If you are in need, please don’t hesitate to take this.” The bag would remain on the tree for three months or even longer. This practice epitomizes the essence of the Islamic system.
