Distribution of the Karen people.
The Karen people are descendants of the Mongols who migrated southward
about 2000 years ago. ‘Kayin’ as they call themselves, means ‘flowing
sands’ acknowledging their trek across the Gobi Desert along the Chinese
Mongolian border.
