Dear parents, take a minute and read the following:
⚠️ Tarzan lives half-naked.
⚠️ Cinderella comes home at midnight.
⚠️ Pinocchio lies all the time.
⚠️ Aladdin is the king of thieves.
⚠️ Batman drives at 200 km per hour.
⚠️ Romeo and Juliet commit su*cide due to love.
⚠️ Harry Potter uses witchcraft.
⚠️ Mickey and Minnie are more than just friends.
⚠️ Sleeping Beauty is lazy.
⚠️ Dumbo gets drunk and hallucinates.
⚠️ Snow White lives with 7 men.
It is no wonder that children may adopt improper behavior when exposed to such narratives in the books and cartoons they are reading and watching.
Instead, we should teach them about:
✅ Sayyidunā Abū Bakr’s loyalty and immortal service to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ.
✅ Sayyidunā ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb’s love for justice and tolerance.
✅ Sayyidunā ‘Uthmān ibn ‘Affān’s level of modesty, decency, and humility.
✅ Mawlā ‘Alī ibn Abī Tālib’s courage and bravery.
✅ Sayyidah Fātimah al-Zahrā’s love and respect for her father.
✅ Sayyidah ‘Ā’isha’s purity, intellect, piety, knowledge, and insight.
✅ Sayyidunā Khālid ibn Walīd’s desire to combat evil.
✅ Sayyidunā Ḥusayn’s struggle for truth and justice.
✅ Sultān Salāḥ ud-Dīn al-Ayyūbī’s liberation of Islamic lands and sanctuaries.
And these noble names are just to name a few…
It is important for us to be mindful of the stories and narratives we expose our children to. Instead of solely focusing on fictional characters with questionable behaviors, let us educate our children about the remarkable individuals from Islamic history.
By teaching them about the loyalty, justice, courage, and other virtues exhibited by these figures, we can inspire our children to emulate their noble qualities. Let us prioritize instilling in them a love for Allāh, a deep understanding of the Qur’ān, and a commitment to following the teachings of Rasūlullāh ﷺ. By doing so, we can guide our children toward a path of righteousness and foster a strong connection to their faith.
