Curious Little Boy Walks Right Up To Police Officer During Protest To Share Special Moment

Hundreds of protesters took a knee for 8 minutes and 46 seconds in downtown Winston-Salem, North Carolina, marking the length of time that former police officer Derek Chauvin forced his knee onto George Floyd’s neck.

Yullanda Williams Dickey was driving by the protest as the crowd returned to their feet and took to the streets.

The local mom decided to go home, grab her kids and husband, and head back to the protest so they could all experience it for themselves.

After they returned, Yullanda’s young son Kamari watched as protesters marched past them, chanting in unison.

However, it wasn’t the protesters who caught Kamari’s attention the most … it was the line of police officers on the sidelines.

Yullanda says Kamari has always wanted to be a police officer, but she fears the current events will now change his perspective on his achieving his dream.

So when her son quietly approached Sgt. Dan Battjes, who was sitting on his motorcycle during the protests, she didn’t know what to expect.

Fox8 cameras were filming as Kamari walked right up to the officer, capturing a very special moment that reminds us of the innocence of children.
