Central Asia in the 19th century
Masters of the steppes in the 18th century, the Russians embarked on the conquest of Central Asia in the middle of the 19th century. They then clashed with the British along an arc from the Caucasus to Xinjiang. This “Great Game” of the two imperialisms will be a source of tension.
