Anne obviously has decades of acting work under her belt. She appeared on the Fox TV dramedy Get Real when she was a teenager.

Anne was at the Sundance Film Festival this weekend to promote her new film Eileen, an adaptation of a very dark book by Ottessa Moshfegh that I honestly cannot recommend enough.

Well, during a Q&A that followed the film’s screening (via Variety), Anne revealed that she was once asked a very creepy question by a journalist when she was just 16 years old.

“I just remembered one of the very first questions I ever got asked when I started acting and had to do press was: Are you a good girl or a bad girl?” she said.

“I was 16. And my 16-year-old self wanted to respond with this film.”

This isn’t the first time Anne has spoken about the treatment she’s received from the media and in public. Last year, she reflected on the “Hathahate” trend of the early 2010s.

“Ten years ago, I was given an opportunity to look at the language of hatred from a new perspective,” she said during a speech at Elle’s Women in Hollywood event.

“This was a language I had employed with myself since I was 7. And when your self-inflicted pain is suddenly somehow amplified back at you at, say, the full volume of the internet…it’s a thing.”
