Angelina Jolie’s Oldest Son Maddox Just Turned 18 And He’s Headed To College In South Korea

In 2002, Angelina Jolie became a mom for the first time. In 2002, she adopted seven-month-old Maddox Chivan from an orphanage in Battambang, Cambodia.

Angelina absolutely loved being a mom — so much so that she went on to have five other children! In 2003, she adopted Pax Thien from Vietnam, and in 2005 she adopted Zahara Marley from Ethiopia.

When Angelina got together with Brad Pitt in 2005, they knew they wanted to become a family. In 2006, Angelina announced she was pregnant with Brad’s child — they welcomed Shiloh Nouvel in May, 2006. Later that year, Brad adopted Maddox and Zahara. He officially adopted Pax two years later, in 2008, the same year he and Angelina welcomed twins Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline.

Angelina and Brad split up in 2016 and officially got divorced in 2019. They both adore their six children, which led to a bit of a custody battle, but everything was resolved in 2019.

Now, their oldest child, Maddox, is hitting a huge milestone! He turned 18 on August 5, 2019, and now he’s getting ready to go off to university. Later this month, Maddox will start studying biochemistry at Yonsei University in South Korea.

“He got accepted to other universities but choose Yonsei,” a source told People. “He has been studying Korean language. He has lessons multiple times a week to prepare.”

Angelina is planning to travel to South Korea with her oldest son to drop him off and help him get settled in. “Mom is dropping him off in August,” the source said. “She is very proud. She will miss seeing him as much, but he’s ready.”
