Abdurrahman Ghazi was a warrior of Ertugrul Ghazi. He also had a military career with Osman Ghazi and with his son Orhan Ghazi.

He was one of the earliest commanders of the Ottoman Empire, along with Turgut Alp and Konur Alp.

He is famous for his conquest of Aydos castle which was a gateway to Istanbul (Constantinople) and is considered the start of the conquest of Istanbul.

Aydos Castle was constructed between the 11th and 12th centuries during the reign of the Eastern Roman Empire.

With the orders of Sultan Orhan Ghazi, Abdurrahman Alp laid siege to Aydos Castle and made history by its conquest.

Until Bursa was conquered, he served as a fighter in the Ottoman-Byzantine border area.

Abdurrahman Alp has been reported to die in 1329 CE during the reign of Sultan Orhan Ghazi and buried in a village in Erzurum.
