Well, if this isn’t the purest thing you’ve seen all year, then your 2019 has probably been pretty dull.

A 5-year-old little girl was recorded on video sobbing her eyes out after her aunt compared the appearance of a cute puppy to…a potato. 22-year-old Emily Kern was at her home in New Jersey with her niece, Mattigan, when the incident took place. Emily told Caters News, “I saw a video on Facebook of this tiny puppy that was a fluffball and kind of looked like a potato, and so I started laughing, saying it looked like a potato and my niece heard me and got very upset.”

In the video, you can hear Mattigan telling Emily she “hurt my feelings” and when Emily asked why, the little girl responded with, “Because you called the doggy a potato.”

Aww! Poor Mattigan didn’t want that innocent puppy to be body-shamed!

“I don’t know if she was overtired or just attached to that specific puppy,” Emily continued. “I’m not sure what kind of dog it was, maybe a Pomeranian. It was a tiny puppy and it was very fluffy.”

Sounds like Mattigan has a heart of gold, to be honest.

Emily said, “My niece is always cracking me up with all of the things she does and says, and I had no idea that me calling a random dog on the internet a potato would offend her.”
