“I once went to a wedding where not all the wedding guests were invited to the reception. Those that were invited to the reception received an additional card with reception details in their wedding invitation. I was best friends with one of the bride’s younger sisters who had clued me in on this beforehand. My family didn’t get the reception invite. The ceremony ended, and as people were leaving the church, my friend asked if my family and I were coming to the reception. I said we weren’t invited.”

“She looked confused and then asked her sister, the bride, if we could come. While I did ultimately get to go to the reception and have fun with my friends, I’ve never forgotten the snub. My family always thought we were close family friends with the bride and her family. This was also the age of uploading your entire camera roll to Facebook, so I’m sure there were other snubs who did not get to go who were hurt to open Facebook in the following days to find out there actually had been a reception, they just weren’t invited.”
